Chapter 13: Elite Level Wilderness Cave

Chu You accepted Lin Luor's friend request.

It is now past 11 pm, and she still hasn't gone to sleep. Chu You glanced at the real time, which showed that it was already very late.

With a thought, Chu You opened the system settings.

"I want to enter Sleep Mode."

"Sleep Mode activated, activating deep sympathetic neural connections..."

Truth be told, even the best gaming pods can't regularly use Sleep Mode. Since the drawbacks of this technology are still unknown, it is strongly suggested to players that they should rest naturally as much as possible.

"Alright, you guys continue to chat, I'm going to log off and sleep now." A female classmate said.

"Okay, go ahead, I'm already sleeping."

Female classmate: ...

Chu You continued to slay monsters and level up. He had almost covered the entire 5-level area, and what surprised him was that there were no elite bosses here.

He must be doing something wrong.

"Chu You?" A message came over the communication network, and Chu You stopped in the woods.

He opened the channel and a voice came through.

Listening to this voice which was both unfamiliar and slightly familiar, Chu You fell silent. He was mourning for Lin Luor of his previous life.

After a moment, Chu You came back to his senses.

"I'm here, long time no see," Chu You said, eyeing his surroundings. He decided to head toward the hilltop to explore a 5-level area that he had not yet uncovered.

"We have yet to meet, haven't we?"

Chu You listened to Lin Luor's words while scanning the terrain.

Chu You thought for a moment, then asked, "How have you been?"

"Just like that." Lin Luor, sitting by a lake, was a beginner priest with only one skill - healing. Levelling up was extremely tough at this stage as most of the work had to be done with a staff, and priests who weren't part of a team had to rely on quests to gradually level up.

Lin Luor looked at Chu You's status, noticing that he was already at level 4, while she was still at level 0. Sitting on the grass, staring at the calm lake before her, she slipped into a trance.

Back in her sophomore year, there was a moment when she considered calling Chu You for help. But the thought of his personality and the enormity of her troubles caused her to hesitate. She would need a large sum of money that, although Chu You could easily afford as a wealthy heir, she believed his parents must have strict control over his finances.

Lin Luor, and perhaps all her high school classmates, were unaware that Chu You's parents had gotten into some trouble right when he started his freshman year in college.

So, unsure of their relationship and remembering all the cold stares she had given him in high school, Lin Luor slowly put down her phone.

Shortly thereafter, a plant she could harvest appeared beside Lin Luor, so she stood to pick it. Harvesting would only yield a bit of experience, and depending on it for leveling up was wishful thinking. However, having a bit of experience was better than none. Perhaps she might even end up on a life career path, Lin Luor thought.

There is hope!

Chu You spotted a cave within the dense forest at the top of the hill, and quickly began to sprint toward it.

"You're such a low level, why don't you come here? I'll help you level up," Chu You suggested to Lin Luor over the comm system while running.

In no time, Chu You arrived at a cave entrance slightly covered by weeds. He brushed aside the weeds to reveal a dark, pitch-black cave. A cold wind blew out from the entrance, which was so small that one would have to bend down to enter.

Just by the looks of this cave, not to mention female players, even male players would hesitate and dare not go in.

Chu You's eyes lit up. As he suspected, this was a cave. There must be elite creatures inside, and possibly even a 5-level field boss.

Field bosses aren't like dungeon bosses. They're typically more powerful and horrendous, dropping far better equipment at the same level, and granting plentiful experience.

Chu You glanced around and then slowly entered the black hole, bending down.

Lin Luor was somewhat excited. After playing the new game for several hours, she found that the leveling system of "Celestial World" was nothing like PC games. This was more realistic, more brutal. Priests at the beginning stage found it hard to level up without companionship.

"Where are you?"

Soon the reply came, "I'm in Liuying Village, Wangshan City." There was an echo in Chu You's voice; was he in some kind of cave?

Lin Luor searched on the map for the place that Chu You mentioned, only to find that it was quite far from her. Fortunately, they were both part of the Great Yan Kingdom and hadn't crossed any national borders.

She picked her destination and found out that she would have to run for 7 hours to get there.

Lin Luor couldn't help but frown.

A bat swiftly flew past Chu You and exited the cave.

In the pitch darkness where nothing could be seen, Chu You sensed that the terrain was sloping downwards. He opened his spatial bag and pulled out a candle.

The candle lit up automatically once it was taken out. Chu You held the candle in one hand and his training sword in the other, carefully descending the slope.

He didn't have to worry about the candle going out. It was a sacred flame that could not be extinguished by the natural conditions in the cave.

Soon, the light of the candle illuminated a figure ahead. It was a massive snake, slowly crawling at that moment.

Chu You came to a halt and immediately locked onto it.

Net-patterned python, level 5, one star elite, category: boss level.

Damn! The very first creature encountered here is of boss level.

Looking at the narrow compact terrain here, it was somewhat challenging to move around, as the cave was not only low but also narrow.

At this moment, Chu You noticed that the python was slowly crawling towards him.

It seemed to have caught the scent of a stranger...

A snake can't see objects; it senses them.

"Shall I come over?" Lin Luo's voice came through the communication.

Chu You lowered his body even more, squatting down with his legs bent, "Come quick, I'm waiting for you." Chu You stared intently at the python in front, while saying this.

The sensing range of a boss-level creature was evidently broader than that of an ordinary elite. When the net-patterned python genuinely sensed Chu You, it instantly froze. Then its body moved violently, speeding towards Chu You.

Watching its imposing momentum, Chu You subconsciously started to back away.

The net-patterned python opened its terrifyingly large mouth and quickly reached Chu You's face.

Chu You immediately swung his sword, causing a damage of -32.

The enormous snake body remained undeterred by the attack, instantly coiling around Chu You with its strong muscles fiercely contracting.

Death wrap!

-20, -20. Damage of -20 appeared every two seconds.

A strong fishy smell rushed over, and Chu You, constricted by the giant python, couldn't move at all. The game was realistic to the extreme, creating a chilling tension on the scene.

"Chu You, I'm genuinely coming over, and you better not be fooling me," Lin Luo's voice was incredibly serious.

Chu You, constricted by the python, turned red in the face. With his health constantly decreasing by -20, he struggled to speak.

"I... I'm... not... not fooling you!"

-20, -20.

"What's wrong with you?"

-20.

"Nothing, just come over quickly, be my personal nurse." After experiencing immobility due to damage five times in a row, the python finally released Chu You. However, just as it let go, the snake opened its stinky mouth wide and tried to bite Chu You.

Chu You hastily moved aside, and after slashing the snake with his sword, he quickly retreated.

The python behind him was hot on his heels with a chilling roar. Chu You shifted to run mode, however, he intentionally controlled his speed. When he was within the python's attack range, if the snake head suddenly bit him, Chu You would either speed up or subtly dodge to avoid the attack.

As this happened, Chu You would retaliate.

With a leap, Chu You fled the cave and quickly glanced back to find that the snake didn't lose its hostility. The giant snake body was rushing towards him.

What a big worm! He quickly put the candle in his hand back into the spatial backpack.

The terrain instantly expanded, and Chu You's combat experience immediately came into play.

When this boss-level python was left with half of its health, it launched another death wrap. The giant mouth attacked abruptly, and the snake body quickly wound around Chu You.

Here it comes again! Chu You was furious and dodged the attack urgently.

At this time, the snake tail swept towards Chu You's legs. If hit, Chu You would stumble and fall. He may then face another death wrap, since he had managed to dodge the attack of the python.

Chu You jumped and landed on the snake body, immediately cutting it with his sword.

-48, a critical hit.

At this point, the python's mouth was filled with blood, obviously in a near-death state. Chu You once again slashed his sword.

Before long, the boss-level python tilted its head and fell to the ground, completely killed by Chu You.

A piece of equipment sprung from snake's body, landing on the ground, emitting waves of aqua rays. Chu You found it was a pair of gloves, he immediately walked over and picked it up.

Graceful snake skin gloves, Viscount level, attack power +5, defense +3, health +50, critical fatal injury +6%, attack speed +2. It can be equipped when the character reaches level 5.

Good stuff! Chu You was joyful, the equipment dropped by the wild elite was indeed high-quality.

After tucking away his loot and using a bandage, Chu You sat on the ground to recover his health and stamina.

Before long, Chu You stood up and entered the cave again.

Soon, Chu You arrived at the previous location where he had encountered the boss-level creature. He noticed that the terrain inside was gradually expanding, and the height of the space was much higher. He could finally stand upright.
