The shock had overtaken all my senses as I stared helplessly at the oncoming fireball. It was hot, so hot that even from only a few more feet away from my face it was already starting to make me sweat profusely.
Poof! The fireball dispersed into the air mid-flight. Taking along the blistering heat away with its disappearance.
"The next repeat, I shall not be so lenient..." The white-haired old man clad in wizard cosplay turned back to the blackboard and started writing away with his chalk. Despite his back facing us, he kept on talking.
"Turn to page 364 of Magic Introduction... As you can see..."
The harmful heat from the ball of flame had disappeared but there was still that sense of fear present in me. But then again, I became confused...
Wasn't... Wasn't I supposed to be dead?
I can clearly remember me falling to the ground after struggling to breathe. No I did suffocate to death while the blood of someone's neck that I snapped drenched my hands and my clothes.
My mind became blank and I focused on what I remembered.
My hands were supposed to be drenched. Wet due to blood.
Hurriedly raising my hands before me, I scrutinized every detail I found out from these hands.
Where did all the blood go? Weren't they supposed to be a shade of red right now?
One more detail made me freeze up. I could raise my right arm.
"Haha..." I laughed a little in disbelief witnessing my right arm rise and fall to my will.
My right arm... The right arm that was constantly drowned in a sea of numbness while refusing to conceede to my will. I was able to control it as I wished now...
I reached up to touch my face with my right hand.. My fingers went up to my right eye and they obstructed my vision.
I can see with my right eye again... It's not drooping down constantly anymore...
Thud! I lost the will to use my hand and it fell down to the desk. Making a noise after it collided with the wooden plank surface.
A tear ran down my right eye as I slumped back on my seat.
I'm normal... Normal now...
Click! Something fell out of my pocket and it caught my attention. A clear steel card with a picture and some details on it.
=====
Name: William Maxwell
Status: Low-Class Noble
Profession: Student (Linea's Institute of Magic)
=====
It had a picture in it. It was a picture of me. But one taken when I was just twelve years old.
Gray hair with matching Gray eyes. A somewhat spiky yet short cut hair. In the picture, I was smiling. Smiling so joyfully and my skin wasn't pale as paper.
I was stunned... I looked back to my hands and saw that they were smaller and much softer compared to what I remember of them. I looked back to the card and I bent down to grab it.
Although someone else's hand had beat me to it.
"Here... Don't go off dropping your identity card again. If you lose it you would be in trouble."
"T-T-Thank you..." Stuttering aa reply, I received the card with two hands while looking at the features of the one who gave it to me.
A twelve year old boy who had dark royal blue hair and sharp hazel eyes. His eyebrows were sharp like swords, giving off a serious air to him.
His gaze seemed to be apathetic. Complemented by the dark circles under his eyes. He focused on what the old man cosplaying as a wizard was saying after handing me my card.
The boy had this somewhat lonely vibe to him...
Thinking it was rude to stare, I returned my gaze to my table and looked at the card. I flipped it over and the clear steel back had reflected my eyes in it.
Kind looking gray eyes with matching gray hair. I looked at my reflection and saw a young boy staring back at me with a frozen expression.
This...
I looked around the class in panick and saw that everyone was young. Seeming to be the same age group as me.
But they were all unfamiliar... I've never met nor seen them all before up until now.
Wait...
I froze in my thoughts.
I died pathetically. Suffocating after killing someone.
My appearance is of a young boy and my metal card mentioned of me being a noble. And the man on the black board wearing a wizard outfit.
He materialized a ball of flame and sent it at me earlier before making it disappear once more.
Died... Unfamiliar surroundings...A fireball?
All the pieces seem to fall together into one big picture.
"No way!" I shouted in disbelief.
I transmigrated! I transmigrated into a parallel world filled with magic!
This is... Impossible!
Yet as I stare at everything and everyone foreign around me, that thought grew to be more logical.
"Get out!" The grumpy wizard shouted and two balls of fire materialized from his two out stretched palms after a pair of small red magic circles flashed briefly.
He waved his hands and sent the fireballs at me.
Shit!
Panicking, my body moved on its own and I rolled out off the seat and kept rolling until my back hit a wall.
Boom! My chair practically went up in flames as a mini explosion of pyromancy engulfed it.
The burning chair painted a vivid image inside my head. That could've been me if I didn't dodge! I would have died!
"Leave!" The old man shouted at me and pointed to the door. My heart still pounding in fear. I stood up and ran off but not before looking at the faces of my classmates.
Some laughed and giggled in my misery while the boy from earlier shook his head at me.
Looks like I really screwed up this time...
But everything should still be fine I guess by tommorrow.
"Go home! You're suspended for today Maxwell!" Called by my last name with a shout, I shivered before nodding.
"Yes! I'm sorry!" I apologized before running off and out of the room.
And before me came a wide corridor of grand designs. The floors and walls were made out of pure white marble with the occassional brown granite mixing into the fray.
Chandeliers lit up the ceiling with a brilliant golden glow and I turned to the direction where I came from.
The door to my class was there and at the top was a steel plate.
3-B
It was my class section.
I started walking down the wide corridor while looking at the steel plates atop each door's archway.
The left and right side of the corridoors had rooms built into them and the classess were segragated into five numbers and letters, from one to five and from A, B, C, D and F.
The scenery was mesmerizing...
Click! The sound of gears clicking and clacking sounded out from a nearby wall. I turned swiftly to the right and lo and behold.
The wall parted into two vertically.
Dang! A thick stone pole came out of it and what was strange was the pole's lower end was encased in a huge iron boot. Wait... The stone pole actually looks like a leg.
A stone armored hand then came out and gripped the right side of the newly formed corridor. Something glowed red inside the dark space...
"DELINQUENT... DETECTED!"
The arm flexed and as if trying to get itself unstuck, the giant stone thingy majig inside the dark space came bursting forth.
Shit did I awaken a hidden boss or something???
Anxiously stepping back, the stone giant who towered over me at a height of probably three meters stepped forth. It's every step causing the very ground to vibrate.
That thing is heavy! And I am doomed if it gets me!
Run run run!
Frantically turning around, I dashed forth to the exit. The giant slowly turned its featureless face at me and tilted its head.
Shouldn't it be chasing me right now?
"WHY ARE YOU RUNNING?" A robotic deep voice made me grow more panicky and the golem raised an arm. Clenching as if reaching for me and I looked away.
Almost there! Only a few more steps and I'll be out!
Finding some relief in the nearing exit, everything soon crumbled away. My hope had been taken from me and was replaced by utter despair.
Slick!
A wall of white stone rose from the ground and blocked the exit.
And I was running too fast to stop.
"Sh-"
Thud!
