Chapter 2

Trevor's P.O.V.

I sat  on the waiting room chairs. Waiting for my dear Stella to get better. It's been, so far, two days since she lost consciousness on that fateful night. Just thinking about the moment made my eyes blurry with tears.

"She shouldn't have gone through this. She didn't deserve this. How could I've let her get hurt like this?"  I began to mutter as the panic in my blood as well as the sadness in the air got to me and slowly I began to loose myself.

It was early noon and my man pride was battling my sissy and crying self. I sniffed one last time then looked up and closed my eyes trying to calm my nerves and repeating the same words.

Everything will be okay.

Everything will be okay.

Everything will be okay.

"Mr. Arling, you may see Stella now. " A chubby nurse said while reading from the clipboard and holding open the door.

I nodded in recognition of her there as I walked quickly to Stella's little corner in the hospital.

The nurse followed and began explaining what was happening.

"Understand that she was in a coma so please don't bombard her with hugs or emotions or certain information. After this she should be fine. "

I stopped on my tracks when i saw her laying down on the bed and the background noise of the beeping machine that represented her heart.

I pulled up a chair and sat by the bed. Minutes later her face crinkled up and she was waking up from her frozen state.

Hope, relief and happiness flowed through my veins as my tense muscles relaxed.

Her eyes fluttered open and I was dying to hug her and take her home so that everything could go back to the way it was.  "Stella,  Stella. How are you feeling? " I asked as I stood up from the chair.

A confused expression crossed her face and she looked at me for the longest.

" You-You know who I am...right Stella? " I said as my throat began to clench and my heart began to pain as i thought of the unthinkable.

"Oh, yeah yeah." She tried swallow but her throat was dry letting her only make a smack noise. "You're my doctor, right." She said it more as a statement than a question but at that moment my heart broke.

" Stella, "  I paused and sat down pulling the chair closer to her. " I'm your husband. "  I reached for her hand but to my surprise she snatched it away from me.

I swallowed hard at the rejection she gave me. She looked at me like a stranger, then looked down at the ring in her hand.

I stood up and walked away from her and towards the doctor.

" You said she would be fine. " I said trying my best to not let my emotions get to me. " In some cases the patient might not immediately  recover their memory."

I was getting tired of this bullshit.

"What do you mean might not! " I paced around with my hand on top my face as I listened to her babble on.

" I'll have to schedule some appointments with her to have her brain scanned, then I'll speak to her to what she's dealing with. "

I couldn't listen anymore to all of this.I walked away from her and Stella and towards the waiting room. As I walked away, in the background, I could hear the nurse say once more. " It's normal! "

°~•~°~•~°~•

After a moment of cooling down and realizing that this is real and is happening, I saw Stella walk towards me. She was wearing the blue gown and a long blue sweater. She stopped once she was right in front of me then left the air still , no words from her or me.

"So you're my husband." She broke the still air and looked down letting her black hair cascade down.

"Yeah, I am." She seemed to not know what to say but then abruptly she looked up and spoke "Can you tell me how my life was? Before this."

She asked me and a glimmer of hope touched my heart.  "You,  you're an architect. You actually were working on a building that was going to be built downtown."

She stared at me dumbfounded and I pray she remembers.

"An architect?  But what about my Law degree? I did finished law school,  didn't I? "  She asked me.

" Actually you got out of law school. You said you wanted to be an architect so you chose that life instead of the one that consisted of the law enforcement." I told her.

"Oh..." She stated.

"And, and what do you do for a living?" She asked me taking a seat by the table. I followed and did the same. " I own a record store. I know, yeah, it's old compared to now days but I guess it's just...me." I shrugged as I told her.

"Oh...that's nice." She simply said.

"Stella it's time for you to come back to your room honey." A nurse said waving Stella over. She nodded, looked at me and nodded once again. I told her bye and she smiled then walked away hugging her sweater.

Once she was gone I let out a sigh and stretched out in my chair. I layed there in that position for a while, then got up and walked towards the exit.

I'll come back tomorrow , The doctor said she'll be ready to come home. That way it might help her remember. Remember me.
