Chapter :-55 The Beginning of the Sengoku Period (Part-1)

After curbing out the Hosokawa family and driving away the Yamana family from the capital. Kiyohime and the rest of the Gerard family returned to the [Shogunate compound].

After their triumph return, their exploits we're spread throughout Japan by the Yamana clan and a few of Gerard family members. Sasaki planned to make a statement; he wanted others to clearly understand that within [Kyoto], the Gerard family were the sole rulers.

Their decisiveness sends shivers down the spines of those who had their eyes on the wealthy and prosperous [Kyoto].

Along with promoting Gerard family forces, the mysteriously robed figure which had single-handedly exterminated the strongest mage squad within Japan struck fear in the hearts of the other clans.

The symbol ᒥ M ᒧ had left the others speechless; it was known that the Gerard family was only a branch family of the Mikaelson clan, it was known that the family consisted of ancient sorcerers and mages, it was known that they were a mysterious bunch.

But they had no idea that this seemingly inactive clan had such strong forces.

The damage dealt by the conflict between the two clans had been fixed after rooting the Hosokawa compound and extorting money from the Yamana clan.

After a few years of reparation, all the destroyed properties were quickly restored while the various clans within [Kyoto] offered to form a [Police force].

The police were a constituted body of persons empowered by the state to enforce the law, to ensure the safety, health and possessions of citizens, and to prevent crime and civil disorder.

Their lawful powers include arrest and the legitimized use of force. The term is most commonly associated with the police forces of [Kyoto] that are authorised to exercise the police power of that state within a defined legal or territorial area of responsibility.

Police forces were separate from the military and other organisations involved in defense of the [Kyoto] against foreign aggressors; however, the gendarmerie is military units charged with civil policing.

Police forces were public sector services, funded through taxes. Freya became the head of the [Police department], while the police force were made up of men from all clans, no one dared to look down upon Freya because she was a woman.

The glaring symbol on her cloak acted as a deterrent. At the same time, she also convinced the other clans into sending females within the police force, as men weren't allowed to deal with women aggressors, in case their action created unrest within the clans.

No men tolerated their women to be touched by other men; this was especially true for the Japanese men; thus, Freya's suggestion was accepted by the various clan heads.

Henrik also created a [Voting system government] consisting of men and woman alike, from different clans. The power they held depended upon their contribution to the advancement of the city as a whole.

Of course, it was still too early for these battle-hardened fools to adapt; thus, the upper-echelons of the clans had many benefits and were exempted from paying taxes to the government.

The Gerard family and the Mikaelson family had the highest authority and benefits in the system they created, and police forces couldn't trouble any of their members and their position within the system was fixed.

What it Looks Like!?…

The members were not chosen by a ruler or by birth. The peoples select the members in an election. In other words, the system got its power from the people.

How It Works!?...

The people choose the members. There are many people in the system. That group then gets together to choose one person to be their leader. The leader is often part of the members.

The name for this job was [Prime Minister]. The Prime Minister is the head of the system and was helped by the [Shogunate government] to function, in this case by Gerard family. This person leads the system and together make decisions under the [Mikaelson family Rule].

Meaning that it provided a chance to everyone, but the most power was always within the hands of the Mikaelson family. At the same time, it's branch family handled the [Shogunate government] and [Royal court].

Henrik was the representative of the Mikaelson family within the system he created and approved of the decision taken by the various members, he also held power to veto any bill(decision) and also pass his bill whenever he wanted.

Being immortal was very useful, especially when the system was extremely well kept and centred. This allowed smooth functioning within [Kyoto] and zeroed conflicts within clans.

Also this way, the people became the power behind the system. They choose the units that made [Kyoto] advance.

Time flew by as the conflicts all around the country grew more and more, clan fought against clan, many people were slaughtered while Japan was soon engulfed in full blown war.

1493, Japan, Izu province…

Traditionally Soun held a reputation of a rōnin who rose to power almost overnight in Kantō; however, he belonged to a prestigious family in the direct employment of the Ashikaga shōgun and enjoyed essential family connections.

His sister was married to Imagawa Yoshitada, a major daimyō from a prestigious cadet branch of the Ashikaga family.

Ahinkuro became a retainer in the Imagawa clan. When Yoshitada died in battle in 1476, Shinkurō mediated the succession dispute between supporters of Yoshitada's son Imagawa Ujichika and Yoshitada's cousin, Oshika Norimitsu.

This proved a temporary peace. When Norimitsu again attempted to gain control of the Imagawa clan, Sōun came to Ujichika's defence, killing Norimitsu.

Ujichika rewarded sōun with Kokukuji castle. He gained control of Izu Province in 1493, avenging a wrong committed by a member of the Ashikaga family which held the shogunate. With Sōun's successful invasion in Izu province, he was credited to become the first "Sengoku daimyō".
