Drawing Failure

Time-lapsed, time flew by

A boomerang across the sky

I photographed a perfect night

Confessed my love at eventide

Sketched our future onto the canvas

Coffee-painted, oil coated, took my chances

Expecting a fine line, not a curve

You looked at me confused, even worse perturbed

Was it astonishment or fascination?

You looked at me with those hazels in dilation

I began numbering my days right there and then

Prayed that my ears need not hear that 'N'

I swear it's not the first time

You're the girl that intruded my paradigm

Been rejected, repudiated, and spurned in the past

Standards that have had me fed up

I bid you the rose, angel you keep it

No longer had to see, knew I'm drawing failures
