CHAPTER 10
Onimi was sitting outside on a long chair made with wood with his wife which was sitting one the mat and wanted to discuss about Akinwuji and their child Oyima.
"I want to discuss something important to you, my wife" Onimi said and she sat properly on the mat and face him.
"what is it?" She asked.
"About Akinwuj, it is more than twenty years now, he doesn't marry to any woman"
"Yes is true!" shook her head.
"So he said yesterday that he like our daughter Oyima that he will be happy if he marry her"
"My daughter to be his wife?"
"Yes, he will be happy if it can possible" thinking of what she would said and looking at her.
"No problem then, but we most tell Oyima first"
"Yes now, i just want to tell you first before telling her, she is the one that can decide on that"
"Tell her, Akinwuji is a very nice person and hard working man that all the people in these kingdom loves"
"That is why me too agree with him, he is not from our creature but he have been living with us it's more than twenty years now"
"Oyima! Oyima!! Oyima!!!" Her mother shouted her name. "Yes mama, am coming" answered from her room, door opened and standing at the front of them.
"What are you doing inside?" her mother asked.
"Am cleaning my room"
"Sit down me and your mother want to talk to you"
"Okay papa, i hope no problem?" Sat beside her father.
"You are my daughter and i will want the best for you, i can't mislead you" her father said.
"I known that papa!" Said with low voice.
"My friend Akinwuji want to marry you"
"Akinwuji want to marry me?"
"Yes and we want you to marry him" her mother said and looking at her husband, him too looked at her.
"But he is not from our creatures"
"It doesn't mean anything ny daughter"
"May be we should give you some days to think about it and come back to give us a reply"
"There is nothing to think about" her mother said.
"I heard you, am ready to marry him"
"You agree to marry him?"
"Yes mama" said with smile face.
"Went inside and pack your loads" Onimi said
"The day you said yes that is when you are going to your husband's house, that is our culture and tradition of this land" her mother said.
Okay, thank you papa and mama"
"You are welcome my daughter" Onimi said.
She went to her room packed all her belongings inside a tote bad and closed the door, her parents has changed their cloth and waiting for her outside.
"Papa, am here" Her mother had been sleeping before she would came out, Onimi woke her up.
"My wife stand up let go"
She stood up took her baby on the floor and Oyima help her to roll the mat gave it to their last born and left.
Akinwuji was doing cleaning of his house, dusting everywhere after doing that put the broom inside and washing his hand using calabash to take water inside a clay pot washing them when they arrived.
Dropped the calabash and collected the load from Onimi's wife put it in a corner of his house and got chair for them to sit, he sat on floor.
"Welcome my wife" he said talking to Onimi's wife.
"My friend, how are you?" Onimi asked.
"Am good, just cleaning up the house"
"Well done Akinwuji" Oyima said
"Let me get you water" going inside with a rag in his hand, he just took a step when his friend called him back.
"Akinwuji come and sit down we are because of you, come and have your seat" Onimi said.
"I hope no problem?" Sat down beside his friend's wife.
"No problem, just sit down like that" he said looking at him. "Akinwuji everything is fine" his wife said.
"It is about what we discussed yesterday"
"Oh! oh!! I remember" Akinwuji said
"I told my wife about it and Oyima too, she said no problem and agreed"
"Yes Akinwuji, my father told me about it and i am ready to be your wife" she said
"Yes, she is now your wife" his wife said.
"Okay!, thank you my friend" very glad.
"You are welcome" both said parents said in chorused.
"What it is the thing that you use to take?"
"As my friend anything you have just bring it" looked at his wife waiting for her comment.
"Yes anything that you have, it acceptable"
"Okay then, give me some minute" he went inside.
"Thank you papa and Mama" knelt down at the front of them, taking their blessing.
"This is it and take this fish too" putting it on the floor.
"This is too much my friend" Onimi said.
"Thank you Akinwuji" his wife said.
"you are welcome" he replied.
"We are living, take care of your wife"
"So my friend, see you again" Onimi said.
"Okay bye, papa and Mama" Both said.
They left; took all what he packed for them.
Akinwuji and Oyima was standing looking at each Others.
"welcome to your house" Akinwuji broke the silent..
"Thank you" she said looking round the house.
"Let me show you around" looking at her.
"Okay, no problem" put her belongs at the door and followed him, he showed her around the house told her what to know and other things.
"All this your pot can not contain of to two people" continue looking around.
"Yes, we have to get the big one"
"except from pot, there is many things to change"
"Now that you are here as my wife, you will be able to get them" he stood at the door.
"okay then, what will you eat" she asked.
"Anything that you cook" he answered.
"Okay my husband" she said took her bag inside and before she would came out Akinwuji had helped her to get fire wood set fire on it, when she came out she saw him washing the pot and walked closed to him with happy face, thanks him and collected the pot from his hand. Akinwuji went to sit down on the chair and looking at her cooking.
