Unwanted memories

Slap! Slap!

"How many more times do I have to slap you before it gets in your mind?"

The little girl looked up at her father defiantly. Her tiny form shaking on the floor yet her violet eyes shone with determination.

"I'm sorry daddy-"

"Who gave you permission to call me that? I would never have a daughter as stupid and incapable as you."

That was the critical hit. The little girl shut her eyes as tears leaked down her swollen, red cheeks. The tall man in front of her swept back his red hair and looked down at the little girl with pure hatred.

"Just like your mother. Defiant as first but when things go out of your control you start crying. Pathetic."

The man then turned on his heel and walked in the opposite direction. Suddenly he stopped and whispered menacingly,

"If you don't have that ancient text memorized by dinner time forget about eating for the next three days."

The little girl forcibly stood up and used her last amount of strength to run after the man.

"Daddy, please wait! I'm sorry I promise that I will get it right his time! Daddy please don't leave me!"

The man stopped and turned to look at the pitiful child. He smirked evilly and looked at her with menace in his violet eyes.

"How could an unmarked child such as yourself be related to me? This time I will be merciful but the next time you call me your father, I will cut off that tongue of yours. Do you understand?"

The little girl nodded and stepped back from the man. She hid her trembling hands behind her back and bowed to the man.

"I apologize your grace, please be merciful."

"That's more like it you stupid child. Now stop bothering me and go finish memorizing the text."

The large black door slammed shut. The room where the little girl resided was dirty and unkept. The only objects were a blanket and bushels o straw in the corner of the room. No windows, no toys, no books. The little girl's hand trembled as she held the papyrus paper in her hand.

She quickly wiped away her tears on the cuff of her holed dress and sat on the floor. The room was filled with the sound of her light voice reciting the text. As she recited her violet eyes were filled with determination. She will become a girl worthy of being the daughter of the leader of the fox clan. Despite not having a mark she will prove them all wrong!

The little girl flinched as the black door opened. The sound of laughter reached her ears.

"Could you believe that the emperor's daughter is this incapable? Look at her ugly face and frail body. We are mere servants yet we have the mark. How shameful!"

The door closed as the sound of silverware clattering on the cement floor vibrated across the whole room. The little girl walked over to see the plate sloppily thrown on the floor. The food inside was scattered across the ground. The little girl's stomach rumbled as she picked up the dry month old bread and brought it to her mouth. Her teeth cried out in pain as she crunched the stale, dusty bread. Suddenly she spit out the bread. Ants crawled out of the holes of the bread. She felt her appetite disappear.

After eating the little girl set the plate near the door and walked back to the blanket and straw. Her small bruised hands pulled out a dusty picture from under the straw. On the back of the picture was the word, "Cherura", written. A beautiful woman with gray eyes and long flowing black hair like the little girl's smiled back at her. Tears leaked out of the little girl's eyes. An epidemic which struck the fox clan three years ago took the lives of her mother and half of the population. The little girl wished that she had died in the epidemic. She might have been able to be with her mother that way.

The sounds of rats scurrying filled the little girl's ears. An hour later, the room was silent as the little girl slept with the picture of her mother by her side. As she slept a blue light shined from inside of her hand, showing the scars which marred her young face.

Suddenly the black door was slammed open. The little girl groggily sat up and rubbed her eyes to look at the source. She cried out as she felt her hair be pulled.

"Who gave you permission to sleep? Did you finish memorizing the ancient text yet? I gave you an extra hour in hopes of giving you more time to practice but you use it to sleep?!"

The little girl started sobbing as the man from earlier started to drag her small body across the floor. He looked at the photo of the little girl and started laughing maniacally. He threw the little girl on the door and tore the photo to pieces.

The little girl screamed as she watched the last pieces of her mother drift to the ground. Suddenly her violet eyes emptied of all emotions. The man walked up to her and whispered.

"She's dead why do you still look at her photo? Are you hoping that she would come back and save you?"

The little girl looked up at her father with a look that he had never seen. He stepped back from her. His years of experience in the battlefield had taught him to be wary of possible threats. For some reason the little being in front of him scared him more than the clan leader of the vultures.

The man fell back to the ground in fear as the little girl suddenly stood up. She started advancing towards her father with surprising speed. Her small hands wrapped around his throat. The man started choking as he struggled to breathe. His eyes widened as he watched the girl's hair color change in front of him to the color of white. Her violet eyes turned into a dark crimson like that of blood. Her small mouth twisted into that of a smirk.

It was the first time in his twenty five years of living that the emperor of the fox clan truly felt afraid. The door opened once more as the guards came rushing in. Their expressions turned into that of fear as they saw the little girl choke the emperor which they feared to death.

"Why did you do that?"

The man scratched at the girl's hands so that she can release him. Her voice sent a chill down his back.

"Why is a son of a bitch as yourself worthy of ripping my mother's photo to shreds?"

The guards managed to pry the little girl's hands off the man's throat. He exhaled and inhaled deeply. This was the first time that he was speechless. He was afraid to look at his daughter's face now.

"Hey, are you deaf or something? I'm speaking to you. Why aren't you answering me?"

The emperor looked at the pure hatred and bloodlust which leaked from the little girl's body. Her crimson eyes shone with reverence as her white hair shone. The emperor backed up to the wall as terror in its purest forms filled him. He started screaming and shaking in fear. His screams stopped as he heard the sound of slashing.

All of the guards which held the girl back from the emperor were heaped on the ground in blood. The emperor clawed at the wall as he struggled to stand. His hand trembled as he unsheathed his blade. The little girl liked her hands which dipped with blood like a kitten that was cleaning herself. She laughed as she watched her father tremble. For some reason it brought her satisfaction seeing him tremble as she had always done in his presence.

She knelt down and grabbed a silver gun from one of the guards. She then slowly walked towards her father.

"Ssstay away from me. Yo-uuu monssster!"

The little girl squealed in pleasure as she heard her father's stuttering voice.

"Why should I stay away daddy? I'm just returning the favors of all the things you have done to me ever since mom died. Aren't you an emperor? It is only fair. The Animaliari Kingdom code says so. A life for a life."

In his fear the emperor dropped his sword. The little girl stopped a short distance away from her father and pointed the gun at his forehead.

"I have a good idea daddy! Why don't I take your life as payment for the all the suffrage I have gone through? It is only fair, don't you think f-a-t-h-e-r dearest?"

"Cherura, sweetie please have mercy on your father. I'm sorry for how I have treated you, please be merciful."

The little girl roared in laughter.

"Who gave you the right to call me by my name daddy? I don't need your piss-poor apology and bullshit."

The man screamed as the little girl clicked the safety.

"Bye, bye daddy."

"Cherura!"
