"You like her that much, do you?"
Yun froze as soon as she heard Bada spoke beside her.
"W-what?" She stuttered.
Bada smirked. "I know you like her. I can see it in your eyes, the way you looked at her and your smiles earlier..." she pointed at Yun's lips before she continued. "You're being too obvious."
Yun's mouth dropped open at Bada's remark. She never thought that she was being that obvious that even Bada can point it out. If her friend knew, then Won Dal might have noticed it too.
The thought of the woman knowing about it worried Yun. But recalling how the woman did look at her earlier, it doesn't seem like she had any clue though.
Her gaze found Bada and she caught her grinning widely as if the latter had found a victim to prey on. Then, she realized that the latter was just teasing her.
She glared at her but instead of backing off, Bada laughed hysterically that annoyed Yun.
"It's not funny," she stressed every word.
Bada did not stop laughing though. "Come on, Yun? You like her! You can't make me think otherwise 'cause your expressions are a give away."
"Shut up! Someone might hear you!" Yun said looking around.
Yun knows she cannot stop Bada now that the latter had figured it out. But of course, she cannot let anyone know about it. Not that she was embarrassed or anything, but kind of. Not for her, but for the woman whom she admires.
Yun can't stand Bada laughing at her so she left her and stomped her way back to their place. She quickly helped in making their dinner just so she could get away from Bada who followed her right away.
In the middle of their meal, Yun fought every urge to throw her bowl to her friend. It was because Bada kept on looking at her with an annoying grin plastered on her face and she sure hated it. She signalled her to stop, afraid that someone might ask why she was looking at her like that.
And she was thankful enough that her friend did stop. Well, that was she thought. As they were preparing to sleep, Bada sat beside Yun. The latter, though she did not glance over her, she knew it was her friend.
Yun tried to ignore her so Bada elbowed her on the side and when she still isn't looking at her, the latter, using her point finger, poked her on the side of her stomach which made Yun yelp and glared at her friend.
"What do you want?" Yun groaned in irritation.
"Nothing," Bada replied. Yun saw her smile slowly fading and turned serious all of a sudden. "But if ever you need someone to talk to, don't hesitate to come to me, okay?"
Yun seemed confused with what she said but still sighed. "This is not one of your tricks, is it?" she doubts her friend's action.
Bada chuckled and shook her head. "No. I'm really serious right now. I don't judge you, just so you know. In fact, I'm very fine with it. But also, I know it will be hard for you and her. As your friend, I want to support you and know that I'm always here for you."
Her words were sincere and Yun felt it. Honestly, it helped her feel better about herself. Knowing that there is someone who supports her with her preference and decisions, who accepts her for being true to herself.
She had known long ago what she really wanted and who she really is. But never in her life did she ever let it show, especially to her parents. She wanted to conceal it as long as she can but when she joined the army, she somehow let herself go but not to such extent like what is happening now.
She had secretly admired women before but this time, it was kind of different. And now that everything seemed to be fine between her and the woman, she's afraid she might actually fall deeper for her.
She smiled. "Don't worry about me. I know how to set a boundary between my feelings and the reality. I do admit that I like her but I'm not crazy enough to think that I have a chance on her."
Yun only wanted to be friends. That's it, actually. She had no intentions to go beyond that, knowing clearly that it's the only thing Won Dal could offer. She just wanted to be a part of the woman's life. Even if it's just as a friend.
The next day, Yun went to the lake in the woods with plans of fixing the boat she found on its shore. She checked it yesterday in attempt to sail in the middle of the lake but saw that there was a hole in it and is not really in a good condition. It needs a thorough repair and it is what she plans to do for the day.
It was time for lunch when she finished. She did not even care if she needed to head back or just stay a little while. She wanted to try it and besides she is not feeling hungry at all.
She did what she wanted. She went inside the boat and rowed to the middle of the lake. Her smiles reached her ears as she slowly took off from the shore and reached the heart of the lake.
Because of the clear waters, Yun can see the bottom of the lake. The skies were reflecting on the waters and the sun made it look like it was twinkling. There were few fishes swimming under her boat which made her smile even more.
She was happy, alright. She even tried talking to the fish as of it can really understand her. She counted every fish she could see but eventually gave up since they were moving so fast and couldn't keep up with them.
Yun did not know how much time has passed when she decided to go back. To be honest, she didn't want to go back, if only it wasn't for her grumbling stomach reminding her she hasn't had any meal yet.
She spent the next few hours talking to Junsu. The latter was being kind of emotional again about his mother. She didn't mind though because talking to him somehow made her realize some things.
"Time–what?" Her brows furrowed when Junsu told her something she had never heard of before.
"A time capsule," Junsu beamed. "It could be a letter or probably just anything that you would want the future generation to find in the future. We bury a box that has things from today, the present, and we'll just leave it there until someone finds it."
"Like what? A treasure for treasure hunting in the future?" Yun still seemed a little confused even with his explanation.
Junsu nodded. "Yes."
"Isn't that too childish?" Yun remarked.
"No, it's not. My sister and I had done it. And I want to do it again. I don't know if this war would ever end and if it does, I'm not sure if I'm still alive if that happens. I want to leave a memory of me and let the people know that I had lived and fought for the country." He said and it warmth Yun's heart.
She knows his sentiment. Everyone who fought during the war does not really make it to history. Just like their colleagues who died not too long ago, they didn't even had the chance to take their bodies and give them a decent burial. They will be regarded generally, and only certain people of high rankings and bravery will be known.
So, she did not stop him. And whilst he made a box on his own, Yun wrote a letter. No one knows what will happen in the future. But someone knows what happened in the past. And if the future doesn't include her, she wants the future to know about her at least.
They went out on the woods that afternoon. They found a spot, under a huge tree that sits almost in the middle of the woods. Yun recognized the area and thought it was near the lake.
"Did you put everything in there already?" Yun asked. Junsu opened the box to let her see but was surprised when Yun placed a letter inside.
"I want to be remembered too," she says with a smile.
They dug a hole and placed the box inside before burying it.
"Are you sure this will reach the future? What if someone digs it out too soon?" Yun asked as she stared down on the ground.
Junsu smiled. "It's okay if someone digs it out even if we're still in this period. It's meant to be found anyway. It doesn't really matter if it reaches the future or not, what matters is someone finds it."
His words were easy to understand but it also felt deep and Yun was very amazed at how the younger could speak so meaningfully.
