HOUSE RENOVATION-E

Astrid woke up with her alarm blaring in her ears. She groaned and got ready to shower. She peeked inside her grandfather's room and saw it empty. They sure wake up early!

Astrid showered and tidied her room. She heard sounds of wood being chopped and walked towards the back of her house. Enlil was topless again! And god he looked so sexy, with droplets of sweat trailing down his body, biceps and triceps tout, sawing a piece of wood. He made carpentry desirable as fuck.

`You sure know how to attract the opposite gender Enlil', Astrid mused, looking around for her grandfather.

Enlil stopped sawing the wooden plank and wiped his brow with a towel. `You mean yourself?'. He smirked at her.

`Ha, ha, ha, ha. Funny.' Astrid spoke dryly. `What are you doing?'

`Come here.', Enlil motioned Astrid to come over and showed her a piece of paper that looked like a blueprint of her current house; albeit a simple one.

`This is your current house. But we need to reinforce it. With your newfound abilities, I'm afraid it may be out of control for beginners. The roof needs to be changed to ceramic tiles. Need additional woodwork here and here.' He pointed out to the ceiling and walls.

From Astrid's point of view, it looked more like tearing the house apart and rebuilding it from bottoms up. She had mixed feelings about it. Excitement and worry?

`Your kitchen needs upgrading with extra storage. And the best part is you will get a gym of your own. Maybe an additional room for your jars and all would be good.' Enlil drew some more on the paper.

`Can I get a bigger like cupboard to store clothes?' Astrid asked. Enlil nodded.

`Don't you think you are getting late for work'? Grandpa Jones spoke and Astrid turned to hug him tightly before kissing his cheek.

`Can I decorate the house, pleeaaasseee?' Astrid pleaded with puppy eyes looking at Enlil and pop. Enlil shrugged his shoulders and continued his work.

`Alright, but we don't want too much stuff in the house. Just the essentials would do.' Grandpa Jones motioned the kitchen for Astrid to eat breakfast and get ready for work.

Astrid ate a light breakfast and Grandpa Jones assured her the house would be done in a few days' time. Astrid was surprised but she guessed being a Wind God meant using his ability to the maximum. All the perks of being a God!

She made a mental note to finish reading the book her pop told her to. She saw pictures and diagrams on how to use the earth and wind energy into daily use.

Grandpa Jones and Enlil pored over the blueprint and decided to rebuild the house using mortar and brick. Both did not know how the wind and earth energy will work in their favour and a strong foundation would be good. They didn't want to rebuild the house repeatedly.

Grandpa Jones went to the industrial portion of Anubia to order a truckload of cement, mixers, roof tiles, brick, steel pipes, paints, wood laminate, glue, and other equipment needed to build a house. He was excited at the prospect of constructing something. Grandpa Jones rented a truck and drove to his house in the middle of Mellow Forest.

`Enlil, we need to finish this up before sunsets. Can we do it?', Grandpa Jones was using the help of the wind to bring all the items down and spread it on the ground carefully.

`I think we can do it together in no time.' Enlil replied. He used a sweeping motion and cleared an area of trees and plants. He inhaled deeply and used his hand to gather a ball of wind. He pushed the wind ball towards the house and the wind enveloped the house entirely.

Enlil motioned the wind upwards and slowly the house was lifted off ground. It looked like magic of sorts with a house floating in the air! Grandpa Jones contributed a few more balls of wind and helped to place it on the cleared piece of land.

After that both divided work among themselves. Enlil did the ground foundation and piling while Grandpa Jones did the fixtures, doors, and walls of the house. Both use their wind power extensively, be it mixing the cement or hammering the wood. By lunchtime, the walls were up!

Grandpa Jones took a few wooden planks from the old house and hammered them together to build several makeshift fans. He gave it a push and a gale of wind continued to swing the fan pushing out strong wind to dry the cement. He placed the fans inside and outside of the house.

By now, you could make an outline of a hall, 3 rooms, a kitchen, toilets (they decided to put toilets in 2 rooms and one next to the kitchen) a storage room, and a mini-gym room. Enlil and Grandpa Jones worked faster to complete the roof of the house. Enlil being stronger completed it and both took a break for lunch.

Grandpa Jones deliberated if he should use wooden flooring or tiles and Enlil suggested wooden flooring, being in the middle of the forest night temperature tend to drop and wooden flooring absorbs heat compared to tiles.

Grandpa Jones dug a hole in the ground and used his wind power to push sanitary toilet piping until it connected to the mainland manhole. He thought of the outhouse and decided to modernize it, thinking it to be more appropriate for Astrid. However, he was stuck at the underground mainland manhole because it was made of steel and concrete. In other words, his piping was illegal.

`Enlil, you think you can blast through steel and concrete?' he explained the situation to Enlil.

Enlil thought for a while and came up with a solution. He made mini fans of steel blades and inserted them into the pipes. When it reached the endpoint, he increased the speed of the steel blades until it started cutting through the concrete. The entire process took 45 minutes and he managed to fix the pipe to the manhole. Grandpa Jones sealed it with glue for strength.

Next, both angled the windowpanes and door frames towards the frames in the house and sealed it. The warm weather and the strong wind sealed all the glues and cement in place. Lastly, they took out the wiring for electricity and Grandpa Jones started wiring the house. He connected it to a solar panel located on top of a tree and turn on the power switch.

Enlil started placing the wooden flooring in place. He uses 1 by1 ft laminated wooden flooring in light brown colour. Both fixed dark brown tiles on the bathroom floor fixed the toilet bowls, sinks, and shower. He tested all of them before smiling in satisfaction. Astrid would be so pleased with him, Grandpa Jones smiled.

Grandpa Jones went to the kitchen and laminated the kitchen fixtures in maroon and cream colour. After that, he went to his room and sat on a stool in the middle of the room. He used his wind power to paint the room in strokes and Enlil observed him.

`Which colour would Astrid like?' he asked.

`Hold it, there are many paints and sealants. Let me finish this room first'. Grandpa Jones finished with the sealant and used the fan to dry it.

`This Nippon Drifting Lavender is for her room and the remaining room, Gracious Gray for outdoor, Restfull for all the interiors, Soothing Blue for the washroom, and Marmalade Rush for the gym. What do you think?

`I think they fit perfectly well.' Enlil managed a small smile and started painting. He worked faster by assigning his wind minions to paint the entire house simultaneously! Talk about an overachiever.

By the time they were done with the painting, the only thing remained was attaching actual fans, lights and arranging the furniture.

Looking at the clock strike at 7 pm, Grandpa Jones looked around in satisfaction. The house is complete! He was ecstatic being able to use his wind energy to the fullest potential. He took his mobile phone out and searched for Astrid's phone number. She is going to be surprised!
