Adrift

A boy adrift this lonely, empty, night.

His sorrow and tears the river ignite.

And he dreams of something to come

under the moonlit sky, so dull and numb.

He lay asleep under the starry sky

in which he begs thee eyes not to cry.

Alone inside all this dark and lament

as his body crumbles such as cement.

He floats away down the river

and his body becomes aquiver.

He screams and cries for help

but all whos distant ignores his yelp.

He fears himself and what he might do

he is afraid and scared he might hurt you.

He forces himself to stay afloat,

but one day he might jump off the boat.

Be kind, be graceful, be lovely to all

for those who climb just to fall.

Hear the pain in distant cries,

for a better world we must realize.
