The plan

The well was old and plants were growing on the side. She quickly looked around to see a bucket at the side which she could attach to the well's pulley system. It was Cara's second time fetching water from a well but it didn't take her long to figure out how.

She carefully lowered the bucket, making sure not to make much movement in the water which might bring the sediments to the top.

When the bucket was full, she started turning the handles of the pulley the other way, in order to bring the bucket back up.

She left it in the bucket for awhile, waiting for small particles and sediments to settle. After that, she poured herself a cup of water. She smelt it first before tasting to ensure that the water didn't have any foul smell or contamination.

Upon drinking the water, Cara was pretty sure the water was safe, but she couldn't be too sure. It was still better to boil the water for everyone to prevent it from making people sick.

She quickly hatched a plan in her mind to work out the resources and logistics before getting Chang Ying over to discuss the plan again.

She explained how the illness was cause by unclean water so all water now needed to be boiled before drinking.

She then went on to explain the treatment, which was essentially water with sugar and salt.

"Each bowl of water should contain 6 spoons of sugar and half a spoon of salt. Everyone must drink two bowls of fluid every time they vomit or have a diarrhoea. This will help replace the fluids they've lost."

Chang Ying marvelled at how her master always managed to diagnose every illness and work out the treatment needed. Even though her master had seemed a bit weird after waking up, her medical skills were still as unparalleled. It was what made leave her village to seek out this infirmary and learn from Doctor Yue. But there was a problem.

"Master, I don't think there is enough water in the well to carry out your treatment plan. We might also need more sugar and salt..."

"Is there another water source? We need as much water as we can." Cara looked around.

Chang Ying nodded, "There is a nearby river but we can't get there as we are confined to this infirmary."

Cara looked around, as she hatched another plan in mind.

"Understand. Chang Ying, can you get some people to help you start out the treatment. For meals, we will cook a simple porridge with the grains we have." Cara instructed.

Seeing the still troubled look, Cara smiled. "Let me sort out out the rest of the water while you get the first batch of treatment to everyone." Cara assured her.

Chang Ying nodded and quickly headed towards the well.

Cara walked over to the barricades where guards were surrounding the area. Ummm, how did people here usually do this?

"Uhhhh greetings," Cara waved for their attention.

" I am a doctor and I have found a way to cure these patients." Cara appealed to the guards with her limited vocabulary, but still trying to sound serious.

All the guards ignored her while one walked off. Cara was about to admit that her plan had failed when she saw that the guard who walked off disappeared into a magnificent tent at the south of the infirmary.

She waited eagerly for a response. If this didn't work then she had to resort to Plan B. Well... there was only one issue. There was no Plan B.

A few minutes later, a young gentleman walked out of the tent. He was wearing a robe, resembling that of a noble or royal. And Cara was shocked when she saw him! No, not because of his status. This man was the splitting image of Dan!
