"Forgive me for interrupting your reunion but you should both prepare for the feast." Oberyn stood at the door with a small smile on his face, he could see his sister becoming a former self once again.
"What feast?" I couldn't help but ask.
"Your feast, you've been missing for years at one point Dorne silently grieved your death, it's only fitting we celebrate your return."
"He's right Aegon, not to mention this will be the first time in years I've left this room. I look forward to having both Rhaenys and you by my side tonight."
I nodded I had things to discuss with them anyways, Dorne couldn't remain cut off from the other 6 kingdoms for much longer.
"Come nephew, I'll show you to your room, I'll even let you borrow a robe," Oberyn chuckled as he led the way out of the room. I looked back at Elia as she held a smile on her face, being here was different then being among the Dothraki. Even now as Drogo and I unite the khalasars I can see the looks of distrust on their faces as I walk alongside them. I knew what it would take to win their trust Daenerys had done it plenty of times within the show but I wasn't ready to be that kind of leader. Here in Dorne I could feel the looks of love even though I had only met family. I had a feeling Dorne would welcome me with open arms.
"She's Happy for the first time in over ten years, I have to thank you nephew for returning, with you came the sister I've longed to see for so long." Oberyn appeared on cloud nine as we walked the halls; the sun tanned colored bricks seemed so different from the ones in Winterfell or even Kings Landing. Kings Landing seemed so big but so empty, this castle seemed filled with feelings of love, and care. The Dornish people were some of the most accepting people in all of the 7 kingdoms. Soon we stopped in front of a brown wooden door, Oberyn led the way in a bed large enough to fit 5 people and was covered by a red cover filled with pillows.
A wine colored sofa could be seen off to the side with a bronze mirror
standing on the wall. Another door led to the bathroom on the bed laid a golden brown colored robe one similar to the one Oberyn was currently wearing.
"Feel free to clean up before joining us downstairs, I'll have someone escort you to the great hall."
He didn't stick around immediately exiting the room, I looked around again noticing the tiniest scent of roses in the air. Walking into the bath area I noticed a basin full of water, rose petals floated atop the water. Removing my clothes I laid into the water allowing my body to be completely submerged within it. I remembered the last time I was in water this hot, Cercei Lannister sometimes filled my mind.
Closing my eyes I allowed myself to relax completely, filling safe within the castle of Dorne.
20 minutes later
I now stood in front of the mirror, the golden-brown robed didn't really suit my taste but there wasn't much I could do. The sound of knocking drew my attention. The door swung open standing there was a girl no older than 11, she wore a beautiful yellow embroidered dress that seemed fit for a princess. Her beautiful silver hair rested off her shoulders as her beautiful purple eyes shined.
"You must be my older brother Aegon," Rhaenys smiled entering the room she took a long look at me, almost as if she was appraising my worth. In return I stared into her eyes it being my first time actually being able to see such eyes besides my own. She surprised me as she stepped forward, clenching my waist in a hug, looking down at her. I somehow smiled as I reciprocated the gesture.
"I expected you to be more-"
"Wild?" Rhaenys released the hug stepping back with a raised brow.
"Yes," I chuckled looking at her.
"Being wild is in my nature but I know when it's time to be a princess, and your return surely calls for it."
I nodded not expecting her to be so mature, even if she was putting on an act it was a good one.
"Come I'll walk you to the great hall," Rhaenys held out her arm allowing me to wrap mine within hers as she led the way.
"So how was it living with savages?"
I smiled knowing that anyone who hadn't lived with the Dothraki would see them as nothing but savages. I had found that the way they lived was quite free, they listened to no one and did what they wanted.
"The Dothraki are a superstitious bunch before I dyed my hair I could go nowhere without being poked and prodded at. They called me a plethora of names, Demon, warlock, they shame those that are different but anyone besides the slaves had the ability to prove themselves and rise in the social hierarchy. I may never had to fight for my food but I think I've proved myself to the Dothraki people they've even given me a nickname, Khal Qora."
"Have you ever killed someone?" Rhaenys looked at me with wide eyes as we were nearing the great hall, I wasn't sure I should answer her question. I had seen the death of plenty of men. As the brother of Khal Drogo I was required to fight my own battles, Drogo wasn't the only one that had never lost a fight even though I hadn't fought nearly as many as him. I did my best to avoid the battlefield the few scars I currently had were enough for me to wish to never have another.
"My dear niece how many times must I tell you not to ask anyone that question," Oberyn sighed with a small smile on his face, "I'm starting to think your mother was right."
"You don't believe that dear uncle," Rhaenys chuckled looking back at me "You can tell me of your feats on the battlefield later, I'm sure they trump our uncle Oberyn's."
"Had I not been drunk that day I never would have told you of mine," Oberyn shook his head as Rhaenys turned to enter the great hall ignoring his words.
"You clean up well dear nephew," Oberyn looked me up and down for a second before turning to the entryway into the great hall.
"We shouldn't keep your mother waiting for much longer," I nodded as Oberyn led the way into the great hall, a table befitting the entirety of the Dornish royal family sat in the center of the room. Chatter filled the room as wood burned brightly in the fireplace ,torches kept the room lit up even as darkness filled the night sky. Servants moved throughout the room fluidly as a beautiful smell wafted from within. From what I could tell this was a private feast one that would only welcome those of the family Martell.
At the head of the table sat Doran Martell the current crown prince of Dorne to his left sat an empty chair, next to that chair set a beautiful olive skinned woman, she held a different kind of beauty then Elia she seemed more exotic. Next to her set 4 other girls each one younger then the next one thing they shared in common was their eyes. Big brown eyes the color of milk chocolate.
On Doran's other side sat my mother, she seemed to be a completely different shade from how she looked earlier. Her cheeks were flushed a healthy red as she sipped from her wine a small smile on her face. The two seats next to her remained empty, she seemed to notice me as she locked eyes with me, the smile on her face growing wider. Rhaenys walked ahead of me kissing Elia on the cheek and greeting both Oberyn and Doran before taking a seat leaving the empty one between both herself and Elia. Next to Rhaenys sat a beautiful young woman no older than 17 she wore revealing clothing nothing anyone would find shameful. She smiled lustfully at me causing a small smile to appear on my face.
Next to her sat a young man younger then Rhaenys he was more focused on the older male sitting to his left then anything else. I could tell they were brothers by how the older male seemed to playfully tease the younger one.
Taking my seat next to Elia I greeted her before nodding at both Doran and Oberyn.
Doran cleared his throat before raising his wine cup, taking a silver spoon he clinked it against the side of the metallic cup causing the room to fall quiet.
"Tonight we welcome back one of our own, my sister's only son, prince Aegon Targaryen. We all know the grief my sister suffered these past few years seeing her happy now warms my heart. Rhaenys has surely been a handful. I'm sure she'll mellow out now that her big brother has finally returned to Aegon."
Laughter filled the room as Doran finished his toast raising my glass I took a sip of the Dornish wine. Dothraki wine paled in comparison, they drank to get drunk so it made sense.
"Aegon, allow me to introduce you to my Paramour, Ellaria Martell," Oberyn had long since taken the chair next to Doran as he introduced Ellaria one could see the love within his eyes.
"It's nice to finally meet you Aegon, your mother isn't the only that has changed since your return. Oberyn has become happier than I've seen him in quite a while thank you."
"It's nice to meet you as well, it seems my uncle has an eye for beauty," Ellaria smiled looking back to Oberyn.
"He surely does," Oberyn chuckled, placing a kiss on her lips.
"These are 4 of my daughters, the oldest, Obera," Oberyn pointed to the one sitting next to Ellaria before moving to the next. "Nymeria, Tyene, and the youngest Elia named after my beautiful sister."
I nodded looking at the 4 girls each of them greeting me before moving back to chattering among-st themselves.
"To your left besides Rhaenys sits Arianne, Doran's first born daughter and crown princess of Dorne."
"Uncle, I think I can introduce myself," Arianne frowned, getting a nod from Oberyn turning back to me she smiled. "It's nice to finally meet you cousin. These two to my left are my younger brothers Trystane and Quentyn."
"Now that introductions are out of the way, Aegon I only have one question why exactly have you returned?" Doran spoke from his seat a wine cup within his hand his question seemed to draw everyone's attention to Aegon.
"Doran such things can be talked about at a later date my son has only returned today you and your politics can wait until the morrow."
"I apologize dear sister but this needs to be talked about, we've done our best to avoid a war I just want to be prepared."
"He's mother," I smiled at her before looking back at my uncle, "Please continue, uncle Doran.
"If you've returned to ask for Dorne's support in your conquest for the iron throne, I'll have to deny your request. You're my blood but I currently see no reason to follow you, you have no army no support besides me. Dorne's army isn't capable of taking on the 7 kingdoms so unless you rode here on a dragon Dorne can't help you in this war."
"I've returned to meet my family, I'll be returning to the Dothraki soon as my brother Khal Drogo is expecting his son to be born soon. I'm not foolish enough to believe people will join my banners simply because of my name. When I return for the Iron Throne you'll have plenty of reasons to join my cause."
The feast continued after that, with Elia and Oberyn telling stories of their childhood. How they journeyed to Casterly Rock to visit the Lannisters, how they referred to Tyrion as a monster only to find out he was simply a baby. Doran was much older than his two siblings already close to 50 years of age.
I enjoyed the warmth of family knowing I wouldn't stay for long, soon the feast came to an end.
"Brother I'll escort you back to your room," Rhaenys said with a smile on her face.
"Little cousin I think it'd be best if you escorted your mother instead," Arianne stepped forward pointing towards Elia who had a couple too many cups of wine.
Rhaenys sighed apologizing to me before walking over to our mother, I turned my attention to Arianne who still seemed sober.
"I'll escort you instead dear cousin," I nodded following her as she did her best to show off her assets as we walked, her hips swayed. Once we reached my room I quickly entered turning around I noticed Arianne still standing at the door with a small smirk on her face.
