Information is Key

Being stared at in such a fashion by a man even bigger than he is, even Face was actually a little intimidated. But thanks to his mask it did not show easily.

The burly man who entered the room repeated himself in an even louder voice, while the rest of the group looked at each other trying to determine how to answer this enraged man. Before anyone else could speak the guard captain came running back to the room and tried to introduce the big man before things got awkward.

"I am sorry, this here is Recktor, he is the man in charge of this walled city and a descendant of legendary monster hunters. His family long thought demons were myths and does not think you are telling the truth." the guard captain explained while standing outside the room behind his city leader.

"Well!" yelled Recktor "What do you have to say for this claim of actually finding and killing a demon, when my family has never been able to even find one after over 300 years of looking to find such a creature."

Rak, trying to tell his side of the story and what he has learned spoke up. "We didn't find it, it found us. Came into the city to find it ravaged, everyone else was dead while it sat in the middle of town praying to an alter it made."

With a quick look at Rak, and showing a not so subtle face of displeasure, Recktor turned back to Face and said "What, cant talk for yourself? Have to have a lackey lie for you?"

With a look of understanding, Face finally knew what was going on and spoke up while pointing at his captain "Um, actually he is our leader. Plus he was the one who actually killed it, we could do next to nothing."

Taking an astonished look at Rak, and another glance back at Face he said in disbelief "This guy is your leader? This has to be a joke. He is scrawny, where is his muscles? What is your name little guy?" he finished while giving a quick flex of his arms.

With an unnoticeable twitch of his eye, Rak responded to his statement "You can refer to me as Yama, and yes i am the leader, and we don't have time for this. Demons are on the way and you need to ready this town for a war. We dealt with one and a certain source says more are starting to appear."

"Oh yea, and what source is this?" Recktor said with a dissatisfied tone.

"It was me who told them." Anubis spoke up from a corner of the room, although it seemed like he had an weird expression on his face looking at Rak, not believing what he just heard.

With a monster sized scoff, Recktor spoke out while looking down at him "A Puck huh? Small and magical little tricksters. You took its word over something like this? The lot of them have been saying this nonsense forever."

"You know of him?" Larry asked

"Sure i do not know of this one specifically, but his kind are all over the place trying to make a contract here or demons are coming there, really annoying buggers they are. Most people who end of dealing with them are the kind to think they have magic powers or something like that." Recktor answered with a deep frown.

"Well despite what you think of them it looks like what they are saying is true, if you don't believe what it or us say then i would say you send a scout to Troya's remains and see for yourself the damage the demon caused and it was supposedly one of the weakest ones." Rak said.

Sizing up his options Recktor agreed "Alright i will see if you are telling the truth, i will send a scout to the city and see what has become of it and if anything is on its way. Make sure to stay in the city for now, i will come find you later."

Finally leaving the room, Recktor left to his office to issue orders for someone to scout the city while Rak's gang was escorted outside of the mansion with just the guard captain to escort them. Before he left to get back to his station he said "I'm sure merc's like you can find your place here, so don't look for me if you have problems."

Rak turned to everyone who was waiting on his order on what to do next. "since it will be at most three days to get what info there is, we should explore the city here and get what we can for this world. We need to know current markets, if there is any rare materials here, and try and find the ability level of the more trained people. We need to know what help they can offer. Remember information is key." Rak said issuing out his orders before everyone nodded and left in a different direction.
