I stood on the roof, looking up at the white clouds slowly gliding across the sky. Why couldn't life be easy? I closed my eyes, feeling the warm sun rays on my face.

"Aren't you going home?" A voice startled me.

My eyes shot open and I turned around to face the voice. "Nate? Why are you here?"

Nate glanced at my backpack lying on the ground. "Don't answer my question with a question. Why aren't you going home?" He had his hands shoved in his pockets with his bag hung over one shoulder.

I sighed and turned back towards the view of the field. "I don't know. I guess I just don't want to go home today." A cool breeze ran across my cheeks and I could hear Nate coming closer to me.

"I guess I wasn't the only one," I glanced at him scanning the field with his eyes. The air was filled with distant shouts of children in a nearby park and a few birds singing in the sky.

"What about you?" I tucked a loose strand of hair behind my ear and turned towards him. "Why aren't you going home?" He put his elbows on the ledge and crossed his arms. "I mean you have a perfect home. I would be happy. If I were you,"

Smiling, he said, "Perfect home." He stood up and picked up my bag on the floor. "Let's go," He strode to the doors of the stairs.

"What? Go where?" Nate paused by the door and said over his shoulder.

"My 'perfect home'. Like you said."
