Adelaide

"What do you want me to tell you?" Dante asked warily.

"Hehe, don't worry, I won't ask you anything serious. Tell me how you appeared in Lily town. Don't give me that golden roc bullshit." Magnus laughed. "I was looking at your direction when you suddenly appeared from thin air."

When Dante heard that his face paled, but then he turned serious. "It is better for your own sake that you don't ask any further."

"Hehe, don't worry about me. I've already lived a good portion of my life. If you don't tell me, I will have to consider you a threat..." Magnus said as the smile on his face disappeared and a chilling gaze appeared in his eyes.

Dante took a deep breath. He realized that he had to give Magnus something, or the outcome wouldn't be good for him. In this case, what could he say? There was no way he would reveal the fact that he was a transmigrator, especially now that he suspected that there were possibly others like him, like the Prince Sid.

"Ha, I come from a distant continent called Jumanji. My continent was overrun by an evil race of beings called UFO who arrived from the sky. I was the prince of the last remaining kingdom which stood against the tyranny of these UFO, but we eventually lost. As a last ditch effort, my father activated a portal and I was sent here." Dante began spinning a yarn about his tragic past, and his facial expressions accompanied the tragic story with an appropriate performance. Back on earth, he wasn't the academically brightest, but he was a well known performer, a star of the theater club.

"UFO... arrived from the sky?" Magnus murmured. "Portal? What do you mean by portal."

"I don't know what it was. My Lord father called it so and said it was an ancestral artifact of 'space magic'." Dante continued to spout.

"...Space Magic!" Magnus looked completely enthralled in the story, but then he turned serious.

"Your continent, Jumanji has such powerful mages to create artifacts so powerful they could transport you across continents, but were still overrun by these UFO? Could they be a threat to this Mersenne Continent as well?" Magnus asked again.

"I do not know..." Dante said, but then he grit his teeth as emotions of pain, hatred and disgust flashed through his eyes. "But I will become strong enough to return and defeat that evil species and save my continent."

Magnus nodded. "I can see that you speak the truth. Your heart is pure, we can consider this payment."

Dante left Magnus' shack and walked towards the Town Elder's house. It was the biggest house in the town and the Town elder was indeed the richest person in the town, an almost nobility. He had managed to ward off Magnus questioning for now, but he didn't know what the potential consequences of lying like this would be.

As he came to the large door and knocked, he found that the door opened almost immediately and a tall man wearing a leather armor and a short grey stubble of a beard smiled at Dante from behind the door.

"Mr. Dante, it is finally a pleasure to make your acquaintance. I heard you are investigating the theft of my daughter's item?" The Town Elder Alderek greeted pleasantly.

"Information does fly fast Town Elder. I am indeed here to ask a few questions regarding the matter." Dante said.

"Come in, come in." The town elder nodded and requested Dante to enter and make himself comfortable.

After some small talk, Dante directly got to the point. "Town Elder, after some investigation, I have narrowed down the motive of the theft, it was to cause harm to your daughter. The person has to be someone who knew that the charm necklace was inhibiting your daughter, Miss Adelaide's illness."

The Town Elder's eyes narrowed. "Did Magnus tell you about her illness? Besides me and Adelaide, no one knew that the charm was for something other than a simple good health charm... I never told this matter to anyone else."

"Magnus only told me that Miss Adelaide was poisoned and refused to elaborate on the matter, however, I deduced the rest. If the Town Elder has not spilled this matter to others, then the only choice is asking Miss Adelaide." Dante patiently explained.

The Town Elder looked shocked. "I must say that your deductive skills are quite remarkable, Mr. Dante."

Dante smiled bitterly. He was himself puzzled by his sudden deductive and observational abilities. Even his hand to eye coordination were amazing according to the woodcutter and his memory had suddenly become photographic. He could only guess that this was some kind of transmigrator benefits.

Soon, on the Town Elder's beckons, his daughter, Miss Adelaide appeared in a demure sky blue dress. However, her face was already looking pale, her cheeks were puffy and she was coughing.

Dante nodded. "She does look like she is in the later stages of a snake bite." He thought to himself as a flashes of memories of himself watching animal planet as a kid reappeared in his mind rather vividly. "Photographic memory huh?"

"Oh my dear daughter, you are already looking so ill. Looks like I will once again have to spend a fortune for the materials and ask for Magnus help to heal you." The Town Elder said with sadness and a flash of hatred at who ever stole the necklace. "Come here and tell mr. Dante here honestly, if you told anyone else about your illness and the charm's effects."

Adelaide looked shocked. "Father, how could you say it so easily in front of a stranger?"

"Mr. Dante was already aware about your situation through his deductions, so don't worry about that. I have talked to him and he is very professional." The Town Elder said.

"Miss Adelaide, did you perhaps tell anyone else about this matter?" Dante asked seriously.

Adelaide looked at the Town Elder's serious expression and was a little scared, yet reluctant to disclose who it was.

"I... I didn't tell anyone." She said as she lost color.

The Town Elder frowned. "Adelaide, this is a matter of life and death. Don't cover for your friend. I can already guess, you told it to Gilda, did you not?"

"I... I didn't..." Adelaide struggled to say.

The Town Elder frowned, but turned towards Dante. "She is lying. She must have told about this matter to Gilda."

Dante was still frowning. He looked at Adelaide and asked again. "Miss, did you tell anyone else?"

"Of.. course not!" Adelaide yelled in anger.

Dante did not say anything about the matter, turning towards the Town Elder, he spoke again. "May I know who Miss Gilda is?"

"You must be aware of her. She is the receptionist at the Adventurer's Guild. Blonde hair, a pair of fashionable spectacles." The Town Elder explained.

"Her?" Dante was surprised.

"Yes, her." The Town Elder frowned. "I will have her come here right now." He turned towards his butler, who quickly left the mansion.

Dante was surprised, since he didn't expect that the suspect would turn out to be the adventurer's guild's receptionist.
