The father and son came down the stairs after about three hours passed.
Zhang Yi noticed them and said, "I personally cooked today. Have a seat in the dining room."
They complied, and Tang Qingyu sat across Lin and his father sat at the end of the table.
When Zhang Yi came out of the kitchen, she sat next to her son and told everyone to try the food and tell her how it tasted.
When it came to main dishes and side dishes, she was an amazing cook and her homemade meals tasted better than a meal made by a professional chef. However, when it came to making pastries and sweets, it tasted like crap. It was like eating a rock or like eating a clump of slimy dough. Nobody dared to tell her how they tasted because they were afraid that she would feel hurt by their words. Everyone avoided the pastries and enjoyed the main dishes, but Shen didn't know about this and he took a clumpy, brown macaroon.
Lin wanted to smack it out of his hand, but her mother had already noticed that he was about to taste it, so she stared at him as he took a bite of the macaroon.
Zhang Yi assumed that everyone enjoyed her pastries, so she never bothered to try it, but in reality, the Tangs looked at Shen and pitied him. They sighed and thought, 'Poor Shen, he's probably going to break off the engagement now'.
However, Shen kept a straight face as he finished the macaroon.
"Mother, your macaroons are very delicious. It's better than a professional baker's macaroons," Shen praised.
Zhang Yi had a bright smile on her face.
"Really? Is it that good? Well, feel free to eat more!"
She started to put dishes in front of him and sometimes, she would take dishes near her son and she would put them near Shen, so it would be easier for him to grab.
Everyone around the table was jealous of how Zhang Yi treated Shen, including Lin.
After everyone finished eating, Shen called his assistant and told him to drive his car over because he and Lin wanted to leave, but Qingyu wasn't planning to leave yet.
Ten minutes later, Shen's assistant, Li Gong, dropped the car off and left.
Lu Shen started the car and held Lin's hand as he drove to his house.
"Did you really like my mother's macaroons? Be honest," Lin said.
"It was okay."
She looked at him like she was saying 'Tell the truth'.
"Fine. It tasted like crap, but I couldn't tell her that, or else she'll probably object our relationship, too," Shen said.
Lin bursted into laughter.
"You're such a great actor! I almost thought you really liked it. I thought you had no tastebuds or something. You even praised her baking, too!"
"Hey! It wasn't THAT bad! By the way, her other dishes were actually really good, so it didn't matter about the pastries," he said.
"My mother is bad at baking, but I'm good at it. She's good at main dishes, but I make mine taste like sh*t. So, we're the opposite when it comes to making food and pastries."
They arrived at a huge modern style villa. It was way bigger than Lin's mansion, and it was almost the size of the Tang Residence.
"Wow! This is your house? It's so huge!" Lin was amazed by her fiancée. He was rich enough to get such a huge property. Villas in his neighborhood were very hard to get.
They walked inside and went to Shen's room. Compared to Lin's, his room was more spacious, but it looked plain and modern. Lin's room was more livelier.
"You have such a big house, but you live by yourself. Isn't it just a waste of money?"
"Well, I'm going to have a big family in the future, so I'm going to need a big place for my thirteen children," Shen said calmly.
"Thirteen children?! Are you freakin crazy?!" Lin touched her stomach and imagined having to care for thirteen children in her womb one baby at a time.
"I'm just kidding! I wouldn't be that cruel to let you go through the pain thirteen times. However, the minimum is ten, so you gotta choose ten, eleven, or twelve kids," he said.
"I'm going to be an old lady by the time we reach seven!!"
"Why don't we start now, then?"
Shameless. Just shameless.
"I'm going home. I don't want to have a kid in my stomach at age twenty-six. I haven't even gotten married yet," she was crying in the inside. Her friends were already married and they had kids. It was only her that was single at her age. Now, she had a fiancée, but he wanted too much. He wanted thirteen kids!!
He hugged her from behind.
"I promise. After you finish business school, I'll marry you and I will give you as much kids we can possibly get!" Shen was imagining the many kids running around his house.
"No! I'm only giving you two!"
"Two? Only two? That's too little. Why do I have a big house if I'm not going to have a lot children run around in it?"
"Fine, then. If you choose children over me, then have kids with another woman!" Lin pushed his hands away and walked fast towards the door.
Shen pulled her towards him and hugged her tight.
"Darling! Don't leave me! Every woman, except for you, is so greedy and selfish! They just come near me for money. I'll have two kids, okay?" Shen tried to curry favor by kissing her cheek continuously.
"Okay! Okay!"
Shen was going to say something, but his phone rang.
"Hello? Ying?"
"Hey! Shen, I have a favor to ask you. Are you busy right now?"
"Yes. But what do you need?"
"I was about to ask if you could take care of Lu Dai. I have to meet someone later and I have nobody to take care of her."
"Okay. Just drop her off at my house. I'll watch her for a bit."
Shen told Tang Lin about having to take care of his niece later, and he said that she could stay if she wanted.
"I'll stay. I want to see my future niece," Lin said.
Thirty minutes later, a tall woman with a striking beauty walked up the pathway holding a cute little girl's hand.
"Uncle Shen!!" The little girl ran to Shen and jumped into his embrace.
"Dai, Uncle has missed you so much!!" Shen told his niece as he pecked her chubby cheeks.
"This is your Aunty Lin. Okay?"
"Hello, Dai! Me and Uncle are going to hang out with you today. We're going to play fun games!" Lin just wanted to pinch the little girl's cheek! She was so cute!
The little girl nodded and her mother introduced herself to Lin.
"Hello. My name is Lu Ying. Thank you guys so much for taking care of her for me. I have to go meet someone right now and it isn't convenient to bring Dai-Dai with me. I'll be back in about an hour or two. Please do not feed her any strawberries. She's allergic to them. If any accident happens, call me immediately. I'll get back as fast as I can. Also, make sure she eats her lunch. I already packed it for her. And also, make sure—"
"Okay! Ying! We got it. Don't worry. It's only for about an hour." Shen assured his sister that he would take good care of Dai.
"Sorry. I rarely leave Dai with other people. I can't help but worry about her. I'm leaving now."
The mother kissed her daughter on the cheek and left.
The couple brought the child inside the house after they saw her car back out of the driveway.
