Spying the Barracks

He woke up early with a pompous sunlight reflected from the outside while passing through the mystic waterfalls. Inspiringly, he was about to get out from his place when he saw her from the periphery of his eyes that likely pulled his head right towards her.

" Hmm...she sleeps like an angel but she just dreadfully destroyed the Japanese camp last night and scarily warned me not to step in her place and jumped to the next room when I slid my feet to get inside her place. Aw! what's that..." He thought while worryingly looking on something that little by little gets out from her hair.

It made her to suddenly wake up.

"George...something's moving in my hair, I guess its a...snake." Magee suspected it to be snake due to the titillating hissing sound.

" D...don't move, don't talk, calm down. Its...my God...just don't move, I'm getting inside your place, may...I?"

" George, yes, no...and when the snake moved out passing through her arm she quickly held its neck and with all her strength she threw it away. George proceeded to where it was thrown and slain it.

" Hah! where is it?" Magee stood up and ran towards where it was slain.

" Its quite big, are you okay?"

" Yes I'm alright. Just can't believe it nestled in my hair." She grabbed her towel and ran to bath.

"Huh!" George unbelievably shook his head.

" Ow! Why you're bringing your dagger in bathing." George smirked.

" Nothing. But what a morning it is for me." Magee laughingly replied from a distance.

There was a total silence that blessing in disguise helped their mind's eyes to recover from the snake episode.

" Mag, what do you want for breakfast?

"Just sayote leaves, there are new sprouts I guess in front of the waterfalls, just boil it for me, please." Then he has heard her dipping water successively.

" Mag..you may take a bath under the showery waterfalls. I'll just climb at the Mabolo tree for a while, isn't that your wish before." He smiled.

" No, its okay, I'm almost done."

Then he went out to get some sayote sprouts when he saw from a distance an array of Japanese soldiers patrolling. He got back immediately and boiled the leaves.

Magee got out from her place and joined with him at the kitchen table.

"You're so silent."

" The Japanese soldiers are patrolling up there."

" Ah, I see. I'm waiting for your sermon."

" There's none, I understand you."

" Next time, just tell me of your plans. Honestly, they're awesome. Your plans to fight were just practical, simple, so natural yet effective.

She smiled while eating the sayote with breadfruit.

" How is that mixed with sugary breadfruit?" He asked.

"Its tasty."

" By the way, I told Guida you're my wife and she thought I planted the flowers for our firstborn."

" Ows! You lied to her." She smiled.

" Its just that she has to know I'm tied so to block whatever her plans are, isn't my idea amazing?"

" I'm beginning to follow your footsteps. By the way, did you climb in the rocky wall of Kabang in order to get out?" George asked.

" Yes."

" Mag, its too dangerous. Please don't do it again."

She's just silent and listening.

"Just wanted to help. But I have my next plan."

" Oh dear, what's that."

" There's a wooden bridge going to Gabok, since its no man's land now due to their attack to the place that threatened the people so we can freely infiltrate our plans like loosening the wooden bridge. It can accommodate persons to pass through but the vehicle could not really resist on it. We need to destroy their vehicles."

" Hmm...its a good idea. Don't worry, I'll tell my men to work on it."

" You sleep again when your hair will get dry. Let's get back to Kabang tonight, I'm worried of the precious plants I left there but prior to that, we'll go up and check the barracks using the binoculars. Let's sneak at the Mabolo branches. Obviously, you're an expert in heights so your nerves won't have tremors on it then." He smiled.

"That would be interesting." She smiled.

There was a tranquil ambiance full of her smiles and his gluey reddish stares. A thin air in between the table and the romantic quixotic amorous conversation backgrounded by the drizzling waterfalls brought the space filled with alluring moment. Take note, their viand was just a handful of sayote, sauced with lemon, salt and highlighted with breadfruit carb.

" Hmm...is there any possibility to change the shorter angel fruit plant into a taller one." He smirked and looked at her.

" No." She's too focused on her food pinched thinly by her fingers.

" I...I see." He was still looking at her.

After a while she felt like flaring through his stares so she smilingly stood up bringing the leftover banana leaves at the kitchen.

"Just leave everything here and I'll be the one to arrange Albrecht's utensils in a little while, take your rest in preparation for our travel tonight.

It took her almost an hour for hair drying by just using her finger as a comb and it brought freshness to restfully lean her back on her place that finely brought her to sleep.

She sleeps in a position like she's having an acid reflux. Hmm...she's holding a dagger on her left hand and covered her self like a mummy from the tip of her toes up to her neckline. My goodness, haha. I felt so shameless and a bad guy around so I'll better stay away till she wakes up." He funnily but seriously thought.

While waiting for her to wake up he tried to climb inside the Mabolo tree going up and slowly opened a man-sized opening door and have heard voices of Japanese soldiers ramping he thought were moving westward. Momentarily, after sneaking and listening to the soldiers inexplicable conversations and confined in a sauna-like hole; he slipped down and wiped his sweats while sitting comfortably beside the long table and heavily sighed.

" Plan. The road ahead seems not passable due to the Japanese soldiers. Its cliff in both sides going west. On the left, there's that gnashing river and on the right its so steep and so vertically inclined. We already have an experience there on our climb with Albrecht. She's even with us that time. Hmm...think and he squeezed off his mind then finally decided. Yeah, we have no choice, but to trek on its finest final drill." He looked at his wristwatch and its already past 12 o'clock.

He took out from his bag some 6 pieces of carabao mango he brought from Malapague, placed them on the table and decided to boil some beans. It took him 20 minutes to successfully boil it and when she woke up its already 1500 hrs.

" George, I've slept too long, I thank God." She smiled while having her lunch late.

" Wow! you have mangoes and I loved to have some beans along with it too."

" Those mangoes harvested by Baldur was evenly shared to the people. This is our share." He grinned while looking at her.

At around 1800 hrs they climbed to the Mabolo tree and safely got out with a moonlit spotting at them. They both seated side by side but she really insisted to move a little farther from him till she accidentally slipped off and ended up hanging to one of its branches. George was in a troubled situation while looking at her from hanging on an 18 feet high tree. Unexpectedly, there were two Japanese soldiers from the west approaching and had to pass under the tree so she just tensely communicated through looking at him in order not to create a fatal sound. Intensely, he could see her struggling so hard while he reached to her his hand. Fortunately, the soldiers passed by so quickly so he successfully rescued her from the brink of death from falling or either being caught. When he pulled her beside him, there were no words but deeper breathe, sweating, rapid heartbeats, and sighs they both thrillingly experienced.

"Thank you." She gasped to reach her breath and held her arms that numbed.

He was speechless.

"Where's our binoculars." She whispered to him while still breathing deeply.

He silently gave it to her where she panted looking at the area massively burned and turned out as a scorched place. After finding it out by herself, she extended to George the binoculars. When George saw the phenomenal situation, he signaled her to move down first as he followed.

"Are you alright?" He asked her while they both sat down beside the long table.

" Yes, I'm beginning to be alright. I'm sorry."

" Its okay." He smiled.

After they packed up some lighter things on their bags, they started the travel going back to Kabang at 2000 hrs.
