Officer Orlando's Troop

Before they reached to the new hideout of officer Orlando, Baldur stick beside her sister while the lieutenant was left while still looking at her from a distance.

" Oh dear...you looked pretty in almost every day. Though...you're more prettier and the loveliest this time. Hmm...I hate this war! I missed our granite house and the place we used to live like a century." George funnily murmured while plucking his fingers from one grass his hand could hold to the other. But little did he know that they were already entering the place where officer Orlando was in.

" Welcome back, so I now believed how love works! and it's true. You said your wife might follow so you rushed to rescue her, and yes! it's a history. It really happened and your instinct has made it." Officer Orlando smiled, watching at them moving inside the cave.

Magee got alienated with the place. It's a plain military's hideout propped with guns and supplies all around. Momentarily, while his husband was chatting with officer Orlando, most of the soldiers were eyeing at her but she does not like those gummy stares. Of course, even if the lieutenant was busy with his business but he didn't miss to catch the looks those men were giving on her wife. In fact, he excused himself in the middle of their conversation and covered her with his jacket.

" Hi Mag, you need to stay in one place and sit down. I'll just make our talk with the officer as quick as we could, then we'll get back to station one once the twilight comes." George whispered.

She smiled and sat down but spoke, " Did they know if who's that woman they've saved?" She asked.

" According to officer Orlando, she's the wife of the cook that barged into the barracks after losing a two-year old child. So to say, bearing a lot of pains this time, hope she'll cope up soon. But as a nurse myself I'm aware of that particular emotional curve, it's never easy. Good you've found her. What's odd goes to not informing Albrecht, hmm...and this isn't part of the plan. The risk, Mag. But, yes...just stay here, hope you musn't leave, just right here." The lieutenant sighed but smiled to her then right away stood up and back to their conversation with officer Orlando.

While her husband dealt with some military and political issues, a young Mexican soldier like her age approached.

" Hi, what's your name?"

" Hello, call me Magee. I'm the wife of that man talking to your head, and you?"

" I'm Charlie, nice meeting you Magee. Hmm...I know he's closely checking at you and I could feel how worried he is." Then he smiled while looking at her.

" Yes, thanks. Indeed he is. I just have to get out and wanted to help, a lot of our fellowmen are dying and even our safest place was left condemned. So women in this war must fight too and defend this land just like our men."

" So, would that mean, you're a Filipino and your husband too? It doesn't look like one but, anyway, you're just as lucky as he is."

" Why?" She looked at him in amazement.

" He's really proud of you for being wise, smart and you know...beautiful. We were even laughing after he returned along with your brother because he added the description while turning his head at us, that you made him crazy! He's awesome, you know." Then he winked an eye to Magee.

" Did he say that?" She blushed and controlled her laughter.

" Yeah...sort of jokily bragged we thought isn't true. But there you are, that's why! He got the chills and reasons.

" Hmm...I see. Wanna tell me something too? I won't tell anyone. I can keep secrets, you know."

" What? did you just.." Charlie just covered his mouth and laughed.

" Of course, it's not I guess hypothetical, right?"

" Haha! but it's just getting to his nerves, no malice, you know, haha! you're pretty cruel, you caught me. No wonder how he loved you that much, you're such a sport too and the first to embarrass me this way, haha. So what should I hide to you from now on for just after an hour of our acquaintance? Shh...don't tell anyone."

" Hmm, of course, not. But only on that point and nothing else would follow, okay?"

" Yes, haha! hmm...what will happen If I do?"

" Easy. You'll decide for it." Then she cracked that line with a pinky face.

" Of course not. I'm busy with the war, you know. He was just more than attractive and that's all, haha!"

" Wow, thank you, just being proud of him too."

" By the way, lieutenant George is a bit heightened right now, do you see it?" Charlie was in serious mode again.

" Yeah, but I don't know if what they're exactly talking about. But for sure, your plans here had enticed him. "

" Very well if our troops will connive this time. We need each other." Charlie uttered.

" Our supplies left wouldn't reach for a year. This worry him too, I know. But how far have you known regarding those soldiers who abducted the cook's wife? And do you think our enemy can still win?" She asked.

" Our enemies are weakening now, don't you know that they have recruited some armies in foreign lands just to stay with them, and one thing - we have few contacts inside the barracks, the husband of that woman you saw on your way was among them. Just don't know if they got them now, huh! However, let's just pray that the wife would tell us more of some updates."

" Hmm...hope so, unless her fear wouldn't tear her off. So look, he's done, they're looking at us, Charlie. Do you see him that close, do you?"

" Haha! you dear and a little bully, I'm glad I know you here." Charlie exclaimed just as they had their handshake with the lieutenant's wife.

When George moved closer to her and offered his hand for her to get up, Magee turned her head to Charlie and said.

" Bye for now Cha, see you next time and chitchat for more."

" Wow! such a wholesome woman you are, I envy a lot and just got my new name." The soldier smiled and bade goodbye.

While they were busy with their goodbyes, George and Baldur were astounded.

" She'd got a new friend in this camp. Terrific. And what were they sharing all along, it seems both of them were long lost friends." The lieutenant looked at her.

" It's nothing, Charlie and I have secrets. Its kinda confidential." Magee uttered.

Why...why you're smiling like teasing me to the bone." George smirked and wrapped his arms on her shoulder as Baldur packed up again and ready to move out.
