The Battlefield

Boom! Boom!

" Such a perilous travel going back to station one, Sir. Another attack seems happening outside, it could

be Officer Orlando's group attacking, or what do you think?" Henry whispered while looking to their

comrades and civilians on their ragged and piled up smelly clothes, resting.

" Yes. I think the way up there looks like a beehive now, there's plenty of them patrolling and that

sound we hear means an air strike and a space heater. I guess we need to take our exit now, brother."

George looked to Baldur just as they both picked up their bags. Henry and Bruno slowly picked up their

handguns too while Amado had just opened his eyes and was awakened by the series of bomb blasts

from nowhere and tapped Bastian's shoulder.

"Bastian, wake up! We all need to be attentive this time, some troops are battling right now up there. We all must be ready." Amado whispered.

" Yes, that's true Amado. Henry, take your time to man your people here, Bruno will be by your side

and the rest shall wait for your orders. Amado, keep everyone's health safe, rather, uncle. Fr. Matias,

bless this people, I thought the attack will instigate a week from now but it's maybe right there. I'm just

thankful that everyone's moved in here, but honestly, I'm a little worried with station four occupants.

Any update?" The lieutenant turned his head and found everyone standing behind. Some were nervous

and under tension by what they hear as the rocks on their walls shiver with tremors every time there are

bomb blasts.

Amado moved closer and embraced the lieutenant.

" You go back to station one now, your wife and our family is waiting. Don't worry about us here,

Bastian is here and we have earned a lot of time ever since, it's your turn to stay close with them, we

can't stay in one place now where the people were separated into three hideouts. I'm the only

physician around while you as a nurse can take care of our family. Just be extra careful on your way

back there, George; and look the old man for me. Be safe with Baldur." Amado shook hands with

Baldur as well.

It was enough and they went out of the cave so assiduously. Above them looks like fireworks in the air and

the core of the encounter seems to be in between Kabang and Tikaban. The path they had to trudge

was the battlefield.

" Oh my God!" The lieutenant arranged his hat.

"What do you mean?" Baldur curiously reacted to his comment while covering the rock of the station

two's hideout.

We can't pass the way we thought it could be. The war is our barrier to get back to station one." The

lieutenant uttered.

" Oh brother...this is crazy! So what do you think we'll gonna do, I'm not so familiar with that cliffy path

back. Years of stay inside Malapague, herein Kabang was so focused on memorizing everything inside

that granite mountain, but not the terrain outside. So that's the reason that I can't really help you about

the way out here right now." Baldur had sweats all over.

" Well, it's okay bro, we can't stay long. We need to move out and see how we can pass through that

battlefield." George started to hide behind the tree and grabbed Baldur to move down and sneak.

Several steps were rigorously running towards their place.

" Baldur, remember, we will not fight against a hundred of them. We'll find a way to survive and escape

out of this area silently. We can't team up with officer Orlando this time either. Likewise, we already knew that these men have

fresh backups and if we'll fight, we're just offering ourselves for a firing squad. No, not now, we can do this

Brother." The lieutenant whispered.

" But how? They're like ants crawling toward us or will they just pass by here? They must be serious to

just get the two of us, haha!" Baldur sounded like kidding but his heart was anxious and was

dumbfounded by the enemies coming.

" Shh...their hideout is in the granite mountain. They're heading there actually, see their direction that

shifts going there. I think we can go there too."

"What? Are you serious , bro?" Baldur shockingly reacted.

" Haha! Yeah, from there, we need to go down the trail, slide down the cliff like spiders. It's where we

used to trudge going to station one before, when the granite mountain was still ours." The lieutenant

said.

" Ah, okay, okay, I got it." Baldur smiled while wiping his sweats on the forehead.

They never wasted anytime. George waited for the last soldier to pass then they carefully crossed the

small path and followed by the edge of the cliff where they used too often before. The lieutenant didn't

just tag along the secret path but in a few moments, he paused and looked up. He noticed that it was

too serene in the spot where the granite house was located. Soldiers guarding above were all over but it

seems no one was on that spot. He turned his head to Baldur and was shocked where his brother-in-law

was.

" Bro? What happened?"

" Shh...there were soldiers below marching, they seemed following the trail going to station one." Baldur whispered.

" Oh God!" then we'll just crawl and stay creeping by the cliff. Who do you think those soldiers are?" George asked.

"Don't have any idea. But they have flashlights along with them."

" Flashlights, hmm, let's be in a hurry. We'll go quick to that battlefield and slide down the cliff as quick as we could.

Do you have the rope with you? I got mine here." George whispered.

" Yeah, mine's here. But wait...there are soldiers coming."

" Just stay low. Remember, we won't fight. " George reminded his brother-in-law again.

They have been crawling and walking too low and after almost thirty minutes, the battlefield was just

approximately a kilometre away.

" Oh brother! No, not yet, don't go..." George stuttered when he noticed that Baldur got down with his

rope and he was left laying down and immobile. For just a few meters, around ten soldiers were

reloading some bullets in their handguns.
