The Banquet and departure

"Hey first of all the gods of order aren't weak it's just he got the wrong one. Oi, I am not going to lie, I would be a shut in for a year too if I was only acknowledged by the god of secretaries. And, no I didn't bond with Luna."

"Really?" His face became serious. "Then who? Brother I know I said that you would be my advisor since you do not want to lead, but I would rather have a mortal on staff than someone with a weak god."

"Oh ye of so little faith. Haha, nah my god is decent(dead). I am pretty sure I will be able to beat you up in about a year, since I will actually be combat training from now on." I blabberred.

"Oh so you already know what your starting power is without reaching level 5?" I forgot that people wouldn't get their first elemental ability until level 5. I was so caught up thinking about the decoder that I forgot that I still don't even know what my starting power will be. I originally told everyone that I wouldn't train in physical combat unless I developed a combat power.

"Nope, I just have a good feeling about it." I said cheekily trying to play my misstep off as if it didn't happen.

"Oh then you must have gotten a really good god to bond with. Good, it is almost time to see what your first power is anyway.

As is tradition in our family, on the day of an awakening a beast would be prepared for the child to get their first kill and get over the horrors of taking a life. Too bad I already had mine, eventhough I have killed so many people already.

Once everybody left the hall for the banquet hall we quickly headed over there. As we entered there were tables upon tables of side dishes with only one entree. In the middle of the room sat a large panther staring at everyone in the room as if it already accepted its fate. It drew quite a pitiful sight. As everyone was seated father stood to speak.

"We all know if I am short on nothing except words. But I do want to thank you all for coming to participate in an ancient tradition here with the Jin family. I also would like to let my son know that I am truly proud. For my son has created a bond with a god that many thought died in the great war. Although he won't be inheriting my seat he has already given his full support for his brother and is ready to stand at his side. So, today is not only a celebration for his awakening but also celebrating my eldest son being officially named heir." With that he sat down to everyones applause.

The applause was quite stiff though as everyone was caught off guard by so much information. Who was the god? Why announce here, right now? But very soon everyone settled in with the announcement and began to go back to normal except for a few gazes that never moved from Saar and some that seemed to take interest in me as well.

After everyone finished eating the first course it was time to then move on. Getting the nod from my father, my grandmother came to me with her arm held out with a dagger in her hand indicating that it was time. At first I reached for the dagger before thinking on second thought I already have one.

With quick thinking, I faked as if I was drawing something out of my robe, and I approached the panther-like creaure with the runic dagger in my hand.

Runic Dagger

Can siphon the essence of a living being to convert into shadow energy

Now that I think about this creature is a LVL, 40 nightcrawler. Known for their aggressive nature and their quick yet devastaing attacks. Also when Saar killed his beast it was level 60. Since he started at level 0 it made sense that he got to level 30 from it.

But I am LVL. 1 so I should get to at least level 21. As I approached the panther began to snarl at me. It looked displeased that I was going to kill it. Which is quite odd considering that tier 0 beasts aren't usually sentient and don't have a way of conveying anything. Yet, why do I feel as if I could understand him.

It doesn't matter, I shook that thought out of my head and tried to draw the energy from my navel to the blade. Although I don't have much control I was still able to lather my blade with shadow energy. When the energy emanated from my blade the people in the room could feel it, but couldn't name it. After a while many gave up trying to name it and just attributed to darkness since it looked and felt similar.

But the nightcrawlers eyes widened. It then bowed its head as if accepting death.

*FFliiiing*

*Thud*

The creature was already drained and ready for death so it only took one well placed dagger throw to the back of the neck to put it out of its misery. Everyone in the hall began to applaud and some even cheered things such as 'what a good throw' and or 'Encore'. But I couldn't help feeling a wave of melancholy wash over me.

Then as no one was watching a dark figure fell out of the nightcrawlers body and a notification appeared,

'Nightcraler LVL. 40 killed'

'Would you like to keep or convert to energy?'

Woah what kind of function is that? Why didn't it appear when I killed the husk? And what does this even mean? Hmm, can I do half?

'Splitting in half acknowledged.'

I had no Idea what that meant. I can keep the nightcrawler? Wait, what is crawling up my arm? When I look down I see a panther going toward the skull only to be eaten and chewed up. Then the other haf merged with the owl. I am so confused. Why couldn't this have come with an A.I.

'Host is about to level up again without maxing out stats. Do you want to hold off on leveling up?'

Yeah

'Nightcrawler lvl. 20 now in shadow domain. Unable to be summoned. No summoning abilities.

'10 level up potions in inventory'

'11 sp'

'11 Lucky draw tickets'

'Killed oponent over 30 levels higher reward: 5 Bloodhill seeds'

Woah that is a lot of stuff. Let's see what we can analyze from this. Ok I now have 22 sp each stat needs 10 to max out at level 1. That just means I have some excersizing to do. The nightcrawlers level was split in half more than likely put into the level-up potions which I should only take once I have maxed my current stats out. I now also have 32 lucky draw tickets which I would probably use later on today.

What are bloodhill seeds? It sounds like something good. Maybe I should plant them. That is probably the last time I kill something so high leveled for a while though at least until I develop my abilities. Speaking of, I can hit level 5 yet so I will have to fake it for now. If I can get to moms village for closed door training I should be fine no one would know.

Dinner moved on and nobody disturbed my thoughts as everyone assumed I was getting accustomed to my newfound power. So without further ado I returned to my seat and continued with niceties until it was over. Once dinner ended father returned to his study, and grandma left to check on the babies so the only person I could tell that I was leaving would be Saar.

"Brother, are you really leaving?" Saar asked, a little shaken as he was shocked by father's announcement earlier.

"Yes, Saar I have to go train" I said a little dismissively as I was trying to hurry up and mount my horse.

"Why not train here with father?" he asked, a little curious.

"Why don't you stay here and train with father?" I asked back.

"Touche, good point. Our powers are different afterall well don't forget to come back often. You know as well as I do that my absense has caused dissention amongst the family so I will need your support." He said

"Don't worry I said you will have my support and so you shall have it. Just make sure to be alive long enough to see it, haha see you brother." We shook hands briefly, but it was all that was needed.

"Alright as long as you don't forget. You know I am starting to think that you are in such a hurry to leave because dad mentioned something about marrying you to that Luo girl. I -"

"Bye, Brother" Before he could finish I already got my horse to full stride towards the north gate of the city. Of course, one of the reasons why I was leaving was because I didn't want to get married. That girl is the embodiment of evil.
