C9 Training

"Welcome to the hunters guild, no we aren't taking new hunters at the moment, if you're an old one don't bother me unless you want to help train some of the newbies we have." The man sitting at the counter doesn't even look up when I stop at the cubicle "well I am an old hunter, I do want to register a new hunter, and I'm willing to train new hunters, I also need my guild card updated, I need to know where the store is to buy gear, and I need to know what the specialty beast is in this area." He looks up suddenly and watches me for a moment. The special monster is whichever beast is the strongest contender in this area, for example, wyverns tend to like the forests of my home, and they spit both fire and flammable poison. The specialty for the desert is a sand worm with wings, but it's extremely rare,I had to go through that way before I could get to this city. "You need your guild card updated sir? We only update guild cards for s-sss ranks, I dont mean to be offensive but aren't you a bit young?" I hand over the card and pull out another card, then I hand a sheet to Ciora "write name, date of birth, place of residence... do you need the place of residence here? My guild said that it depends on the branch, they require it but most places don't. Weapon of choice, most effective killing skill, height, weight, features, and a signature. That's everything that I know of." I turn to the secretary and he nods, the raised eyebrow gives away surprise but that's it "I need my stars changed to an ss rank, I was charged with killing two wyrm-worms in the desert and my ticket of completion was to be turned in here, you should've gotten a message within the last week." His eyes widen and he nods suddenly "give me a moment. The guild master wanted to meet you when you came in, your former guild master sang her praises of you, we were all surprised that the most hard to please of us all was so happy with you." I have a bad feeling about this guy, but for some reason I can't place it. My worst luck is that he's the guild master, second worst would be the husband of the guild master, but I've not done anything to him so there won't be any problems "if you'll give me five minutes I'll get her, what's your name?" I give it to him and he take Cioras paper, it definitely didn't take five minutes, an older woman missing an arm comes down from the stairs with the man at her back, she makes a beeline straight for me. "Hello Nicta Vallen, has anyone ever told you that you don't look much like tour father? If I didn't have a good grasp of the magic flow of the Vallen family I wouldn't have know you were one." She holds out a hand and tells me to take a seat outside, there were some tables but I didn't know that's what they were for. "My name is Alvana, it's nice to meet you. My compatriot in Sylburry sang your praises in her letter, which leaves me in a difficult position. I have been ordered by a very strong individual, no one you know I assure you, to stop your rise to power in my guild, but I dont want to do that. You'll get your ss level clearance but do t use it for a while, if you would hint a few strong creatures I'd be happier. Why I'm most interested in though is that an ss level being said he is an old hunter, and is willing to train the new hunters that we've been getting. Are you telling the truth? I have quite a few quests out for classes but no one is willing to take them, if you'll do it I'll give the job to you alone. You'll decide how to train them, but I want to see every new student you accept visibly grow within one month, and they have to go from the current E rank to c rank in three months. Will you take the job? Depending on the effectiveness of your training you'll be paid more, by both the new trainees and us... effectively I'm giving you a unit in the guild that will bring you a certain amount of beast meat and blood each month, you'll train them and they'll pay us for offering them the chance. What do you say. Of course if you want we can forget about the offer, you'll be a regular ss rank hunter, but I must ask, this last year we've gotten... well there have been many deaths. Not many old hunters will take a newbie with them, and we don't have that many anyway," now this was definitely a surprise, I close my eyes after asking for some tome to think, and she goes to finish Cioras new I.D. Tablet. "It will help everyone in the long run. If I start raising the level of our lower ranks now then that'll mean that humans will become stronger later one right?" I look at Ciora and she nods, but she doesn't say anything "your father wanted me to make your strong. Why don't I take this as a challenge, let's see if I can make you stronger, faster, and let's see if you have the will Togo further, if most of the E ranks become c rank then that would be amazing, since only an about one third of the total hunter population is above c rank in the first place. The really strong individuals are privately owned." She looks at me for a minute and finally she can't hold the question back "Nicta, who the hell are you? A men we of the Vallen family, one of the strongest family's, I get it. The problem is, and most people know this, the Vallen bloodline only makes you stronger, if you struggle hard enough, you have to fight to gain your strength. You are eighteen and an ss ranked hunter. You're the student of the maiden of the sun, but she didn't do anything for you, just gave you some powerful skills that you haven't even looked at yet." Albania returns with Cioras card and tells me about the beasts surrounding the city. In the west there's a sea, the strongest being there is an octopus, but it's a kind hearted being, even if you attack it it only runs away. There are some hydras though that most people can't fight, and so they've been coined the specialty monster around there, she's been told that they're almost as powerful as the wyrm-worm. The north is a plains area I tot he desert, which holds the worms, and the East and west has light woodlands, the west leads off into deep forests. There are tigers, bears, and wolves in the woods and further out there have been dragon sightings. I know what my mission is now "tell me something Ciora, have you ever fought a dragon? They have an odd sense of the world, if you are stronger then you are stronger, they will obey you. However, dragons are some of the strongest beings, so no one can beat them. My main mission is the ruin the amazing images my good for nothing father left, but I really want to fight a dragon." That's for the future though, and currently I need to train some new hunters.
