A roar comes from the darkness and an animal type beasts comes out, lunging at me, I dance to the side and split it open but two scorpions come at me, they aren't strong individually but I have the feeling that I'm playing against a tide here, the hive mind has to be deeper in the area. Since there were three beasts, now six since three more come at me, I can tell I've gotten close enough to worry the hive mind, so it's not to far from here. "Alright you little shit, let's see who lasts longer, I can bet that I'll cut all your pawns down." I take a light scratch and kill all three of the beasts, I'm not worried about the adults poison, but the babies could very well kill me. I've been poisoned multiple times before apparently my Vallen blood is special and can neutralize most poisons, or that's what I was told.
More beasts come from the darkness but with the extra bodies that gives me more places to move, I focus on dodging and take out any beast I come in contact with, and soon bodies lie all around me. The others soon join me, as evidenced when the doll jumps off my shoulder and joins Celeste, but the bests don't seem to care about them. I don't have time to find out if it's something they're doing or if they just don't like me, but soon I hear the numbers whispering to themselves. Even more beasts start piling in and I struggle to stop the bloodlust, but finally I fail. Blood splatters from my arm as I sweep out, almost seven beasts get killed as I split open necks heads and chests, and that's the last thing I remember.
My sword is currently stuck in a beast, a white scorpion, and I'm covered in blood, there are quite a few eggs around me but they don't seem to have hatched yet, for which I'm extremely thankful. I take a deep breath and pop my neck, rolling my shoulders I pull the sword from its newfound sheathe. There are still a few beasts but they're afraid to go anywhere near me, with a bit of preparation I walk past them, aiming for the hive mind. It's I giant scorpion, old if I see right.
unlike the white one I saw earlier this one is extremely black. with a violet skull on the back of its carapace, I bet that things poison would sell for a lot. "I've already gotten this far, I might as well become your death as well." We watch each other and finally it screeches and clicks, the noise alerts the other beasts but they refuse to come close to me, the remaining scorpions rush me but they die easily, There are only a few animal types left. "My blood becomes my fire, with each wound I fight harder, for I am a warrior." I take a breath and the scorpion lunges forwards. I roll under it and it tries to sit, landing straight on my sword, I cut open a section and reach in, grabbing the first thing I feel I rip. Blood splatters out and it screams but it doesn't seem to be too damaged, no organs are hanging out at least.
I reach around and cut off one of its legs, I wanted the tail but it's being careful. The battle rages for a few minutes before I break away, I haven't managed to damage the thing much since that first attack, so I'll try an old move. I take the sword in both hands and go into a stance with it above my head, straight back. This is the one stance that my mother taught me, she said that my father taught it to her but she wasn't able to use it. The move is called scattered clouds, but I've never actually needed to use it so I'm not sure if what she said about it was correct. Apparently it was though, as I stand in place my blood seems to move, my heart beats more strongly and I feel power rush through my veins. This beast is more than my match, just from that one move I could tell and the few minutes we've gone back and forth have cemented that knowledge, so I'll end this quickly "bloodthrain! Activate." The sword pulses and the demon screams, eclipsing the scorpions shout, red lines arc up my arms forming tattoos, my eyes are probably red right now but that doesn't matter. With one quick swing downwards I silence its shout. I'm not so bored as to shout the name of my move, and it wouldn't matter if I did, because it was strong enough. Wind whips past me and as the scorpion falls it splits in half. My mother was right when she said that I didn't need to touch the beast to kill it. I stand there for a moment and the beasts that i haven't killed try to run, the numbers quickly block them and finish the job, but they stay away from me. My sword is still drinking my blood and I struggle to sheathe it, the demon is crying, begging me to leave it alone. Celeste holds out her hand and the doll brightens, soon the whole cavern is lit up, but I don't have time to look at it "Alvana, if you would get the numbers to help you grab some books. I'm about to faint so I won't be able to help you." I stand for a moment more and Ciora stops beside me, when I start to fall I see her reach out and grab me, but everything g goes dark before I can thank her.
