I put my block of wood against Calypsos' neck. Her hand is being held under my arm, and that hand is in her gut. "End of match." I hold for a few moment to let her head clear. Calypso likes fighting but the others do t like fighting her, sometimes she fights too hard. This was my last training fight and then it's mission time. "you're all E rank right now, you currently have the skills to make it to D rank. Aside from the spy no one here should be C rank yet." I've told all my students about the one that rose to C rank trying to show off. While some people agreed I go to slowly, over time they'll realize that I'm helping to cement their knowledge. "All of you should pass the test for D rank, in return you will each get two students. They will be newbies, and they will be your team. From that point on I will only give you team missions. If a member of the team does not complete the mission, I will decide whether it was a team failure or a personal failure. Failure in my class often means death. You have rewards and punishments, and I won't make you scrub floors, you'll be fighting stronger enemies." I'll go over this later but I'm telling them everything, the new students won't know all the rules, because some rules only apply to those that can lead, "I realize that two of you cannot lead multiple people. Calypso, you will not take any students. The ones we'll get this time are older, they won't obey you. Steven, your fighting style is a family secret, I do not expect you to impart it. I would Like for you to take students but it's fine. If you don't though you will have to help the others with their students when they ask." I struggle to remember if got the basics of what I needed to explain, I'm sure I'm leaving out a lot of content, but I'm making most of this up as I go along. "Get to D rank, get some experience up with higher ranked quests. Two months or so should be enough, I want you to do at least six mission in two months, which means that you have two weeks off. When we start doing team missions They'll be mostly C ranked quests however, there will be a total of three B rank quests every week that you can take on if you team up with another team. This will start two months after you start b ranked missions, and you can partner up with other teams." Since this is my class I'm going to incorporate my team idea, there low rank and so don't need big teams. Using the rapport some teams build with others I'll be able to make the teams bigger.
I set up a system with Alvana, she'll give five C rank quests to my team in two months, after they've gotten ranked up and have gained some experience with higher level beasts shell also give them some students and make sure they do t immediately go for the c ranked quest. She knows I'm struggling to put a firm timeline in place for my students and finally asks why I'm stretching my time table to four months. I tell her I'm intending to learn enchanting and magic circles and She gives me a book she tells me that the knowledge she can and is willing g to share is in that book, and that I can ask her any questions. Are you going to start on the sunlight scripture?" I still haven't decided, I'm not sure I have the time to spend on it. "I suggest you start with the shadow scripture, Ataraxes is good at shadow magic, while I'm not too shabby myself." I thank her and return to the house.
"Silent rips and screaming shadows, burning lights and shattering seams. All things as one become all. Awaken oh warrior, your time has come." I look around, and see only darkness. It's peaceful in a way, with nothing around me. In the air a set of words float, originally I couldn't understand them but as I looked at them the letters shimmered and changed. Rips and seams huh, that sounds like something's breaking. The words change suddenly and again it takes them a moment as they settle into the old language and then revert to a current language "past has passed and future has forgotten, the present is only a chance, one in a million. Whether to take time or let time take you is the question." Ok, now that I've gotten a death sentence... suddenly I open my eyes and Celeste is leaning over me, she's pale and looks a little scared "can you understand me? Do you understand what I'm saying? Oh gods... I had thought that here it wouldn't be able to enter your dreams, but I was wrong." I'm confused, I don't know what's going on at this point either. "sleep, Nicta, you won't dream again tonight." She puts a hand on my head and my eyes close.
