Eyes wide shut

I wake up with a start on a cold white bed, alarm sounds were wailing in the background, almost deafening me. Jumping off the bed, I scrambled to stand up with my weak knees giving in beneath me. My arms and legs were wrapped in bandages as was my head. I felt as terrible as I probably looked. The screaming of the alarm bells and people running down the halls outside of my room was crushing down on me. "Raven?" I ask out loud. "RAVEN!!??" I screamed as I remembered the vision. Oh no! He had probably sent me into a dream-like stage again, but something must have broken it off. I clutched my chest to where I had been stabbed. The pain was as real as this reality was. This something is putting Raven in danger. This something had broken into the facility, bringing hell down on it. Raven needed me. Now.

Suddenly my protection instincts kicked in. Find Raven. Save him. Escape.

Coughing I stand up and drag myself to the door. Damnit! What insane experiments had they been doing to me again? I was a mess! My legs felt changed so did my arms and my head was spinning as well. But by sheer will and determination, I pushed myself to open up the door which was surprisingly unlocked. First thought was, I should have stayed in. People were screaming and running around all over. A fire was ravaging on one side of the facility and it was spreading quickly. Taking in the scene before me I remembered my objective and my first problem already: Where was I and where is Raven's cell?

The guards never let us go back to our rooms together, heck I didn't even know who my roommates were and since all rooms looked exactly the same and we had no personal belongings, we probably were rotated around a lot so there was no chance we could plot an escape.

Cursing I wipe off the blood from my mouth. Fuck! I was coughing up blood. I wasn't supposed to wake up from that last operation for a while yet. I must have busted something. Snarling at my own weakness I collect my thoughts again.

Okay, Fox. Calm down. You got this.

All you have to do is use that nose of yours and you're good to go.

I took a deep breath and inhaled the scents around me, searching for that oh so familiar smell of his. But I found nothing. Panic started to seep in and adrenaline came to my rescue, numbing the pain so I could run through the rubble and smokescreens, but only as fast as a normal human would. Raven, where are you? I called out mentally. But he didn't answer.

He must have been knocked out cold. It's the only way to block him out.

Suddenly I catch sight of a young abnormal boy that was buried underneath a heap of rubble. He was wailing for help, but I knew that there was no chance for him. It pained me to run by him, but I gritted my teeth and kept on pushing. my breathing became more and more labored while the thick smoke was spreading around more and more.

Each door I kicked down to find Raven let loose more abnormals which immediately rand out to safety. Some might later on say that I was a hero that night, saving as many of my people as I could, but little did they know that that was the last thing on my mind. I was no hero and I never intended to be one. All I wanted was my own happy ending.

Sorry.

I skid to a halt at the end of the main hall. I never had gone beyond this door. It had a huge sign with "Warning! Danger ahead!" written on it. Something told me that this was definitely the right place for someone like Raven. After his awakening, he had been hooked up to a machine that permanently sedated him.

A growl escaped my throat.

I smelt Raven. And people.

Curling my lips I take a step back and prepare myself for impact. With a guttural howl, I smash right through the glass wall. Shards of broken plexiglass scatter on the ground around me. Some of the fragments cut my pale skin, letting blood drip down my body. The five people in the room turn around to me in shock, immediately pulling out their guns, aiming at me. Raven's unconscious body was sprawled out on a stretcher between them. His body looked so weak and fragile, I couldn't believe they had done this to him. His usually long hair had been shaved off completely, revealing a series of scares scattered all over his head. The lead human barked out an order I did not hear. Not that I didn't speak English, but my pounding ears were completely deafened by my own pulse. Blood rushed through my body, as my heart rate increased.

Completely calm I take a step closer. With a glare, I spit at their feet and then my vision turns red.
