New Jobs

A week later, Giselle signed a contract with a hospital and agreed to begin work the next day. She was to receive a schedule then as well. Giselle was just happy to have something to do during the day.

While Giselle signed on at the hospital, Louis went for an interview with the mayor of New Orleans. He spoke with Mayor Dawson in his office.

"Have you held any sort of this position before, Mr. Montpierre?"

"Yes, sir."

"Please, tell me."

"I was advisor to the French President, and then advisor to the CEO of Le Monde Oil. After the CEO went missing, the company let me off."

"I'm sorry to hear that. Well, you sound like you have more than enough credentials for this job. I will have my secretary look into your background a little more, if that's okay?"

"Of course," Louis said calmly.

This is why Giselle and I fake our ids whenever we need to, Louis thought. Protection.

The two men stood up and shook hands.

"Wow, your hand's quite cold," Mayor Dawson remarked.

"It's a genetic thing."

"Of course."

Then Louis said goodbye and left. He got into his red Aston Martin One-77 and headed for home.

Giselle left the hospital. In the car park ramp that was connected to the hospital, she went over to her silver Ferrarri F60. After getting in and starting the car, she reversed and drove out of the ramp.

The two of them arrived home at about the same time. They both parked their cars in the garage and went into the house together. It was about lunchtime and Giselle and Louis both headed for the dining room.

There, Louis suggested something, "Giselle, mon amour, why don't you go see if the neighbours would be up for coming over later. For drinks and appetisers? Around 2:30-ish?"

Giselle lit up. "Oh, really? Sure. I'll go over after lunch."

They ate a meal of small deli chicken sandwiches and drank A negative. When lunch was finished, Louis went to his office and Giselle put on her black Prada sunglasses. Then she headed next door.

She rang the doorbell on the LeBries' house and patiently waited. After a few moments, a maid opened the door.

"Yes, Miss?"

"Are the LeBries home?"

"Yes."

"I'd like to speak with them. May I?"

"Yes, Miss. I'll take you to wait in the parlour."

"Thank you."

Giselle was escorted in and shown to the brightly lit, daisy yellow parlour room. She sat down, kept her sunglasses on, and waited for the LeBries. The maid returned with a cup of tea and some biscuits. Giselle politely accepted both. The LeBries both came in after a while.

"Oh, Giselle! So sorry to keep you waiting," Maisy said. "We had some business that was rather pressing and urgent."

"That's okay. I understand the stress of a busy schedule."

"What can we help you with?" Aaron asked.

"Louis and I were wondering if you guys would like to come over around 2:30-ish for drinks and appetisers. If you've got a previous engagement, I understand."

"Oh, no. We're free," Maisy said.

"We'd be delighted to come over," Aaron added.

"Good," Giselle said as she stood up. Then she shook their hands. "We'll see you then."

Giselle saw herself to the front door and went home. She opened the front door and took off her sunglasses as she closed the door.

"Well?" Louis asked as he raised an eyebrow.

Giselle was startled and turned to see him leaning against the doorframe of his office. His crisp, white dress shirt accented his toned abdomen and his left leg was crossed over his right. Louis's arms were folded across his chest.

"They're coming over."

He smiled devilishly. "Wonderful."
