Done

"Giselle, please," Louis pleaded. "Just hear me out."

"No. I don't want to. Go away, Louis. Just go!"

"Mon amour..."

"Leave me alone, Louis. Go take care of being the King or your mayor's assistant job. Quite frankly, I don't care what you do. I'm done, Louis. You've become so over protective, it's suffocating. I can't deal with this anymore. I'm just done."

"Giselle, you really don't mean that-"

She cut him off. "Yes, I do."

An uneasy silence was all the came from the other side of the door.

Finally after what seemed like years, Louis said, "Okay, then."

She heard him leave. Once he was gone, she flew up to her room. There, Giselle packed a suitcase and bag. Then she called her best friend.

"Giselle, mon amie, what is it?" Adelene asked.

"I'm leaving New Orleans. I'm leaving Louis. I can't take it anymore."

"Oh, you poor thing! Are you coming home to Paris?"

"No, he'll look for me there. I'm going somewhere where he'll never expect."

"Well, bonne chance. Call me when you get to wherever you're going."

"I will, I promise. I've got to go now, but I just wanted to let you know I was leaving. Au revoir, mon amie."

"Au revoir, Giselle."

They hung up. Giselle quietly snuck downstairs.

"Are you leaving?" Louis asked from his office doorway.

"Yes. I can't do this anymore. Look, I appreciate everything you've ever done for me, Louis. I really do. But it's time for me to move on. We both know I'm not truly your mate, so that means that I can leave if I want to."

"And you really want to leave?"

"Yes. I want to live in this world on my own terms. Not yours. The only way I know of being able to do that, is to leave. It breaks my heart to part from you, Louis. But I have to."

Then, she walked out of the house with her suitcase, bag, and Burberry purse before he could say anything else or try to persuade her to stay. She took a taxi to the airport and paid cash for a one way business class, ticket out of New Orleans. After having passed through security, she boarded the plane.

Giselle sat down and leaned back, closing her eyes. Finally, she felt some peace.

"Miss, what would you like to drink?" a flight attendant asked her.

Merde, Giselle thought. I forgot bags of blood. What will I do?

"Just a water, thanks."

The flight attendant nodded and gave her a bottle of water. Giselle thanked the lady and turned her head to look out the window. Then, the P.A. System rang.

"Hello, everyone. This is your captain speaking. We are headed to Honolulu, Hawaii with a layover in Los Angeles, California. Please, sit back, relax, and enjoy the flight."
