Another Hunt in the Forest 6

"Yes, it was very unfair that Captain Max chose Jack for this mission, and not any of us, we could have assembled a group of much better soldiers and even without archers they could kill several wild animals every day."

"I understand that Captain Max got Jack out of prison and let him lead this group because he was a hunter, but the only things he knows is how to use a bow and a little bit about walking in the forest."

"But he told us that he didn't even know this part of the forest and that is why we have to walk around the river, I'm sure he didn't tell Captain Max about it when he wanted to get out of prison."

"Yes, he must have cheated Captain Max to get out of prison and become the leader of this group for this mission, but when we leave the forest his lies will be revealed."

These envious soldiers invented reasons why they didn't like Jack without having to admit that they were jealous, and when people tried to find reasons why they didn't like someone it was easy.

The 5 soldiers walked quietly through the forest under the torchlight, even though the 5 soldiers were brave, they were afraid of the wind swinging the leaves of the trees and making noises in the forest.

The soldiers realized after walking for a while towards the river that they were doing something stupid, but they would not admit it to the other soldiers and kept walking towards the river.

Getting close to the river they were able to calm down and started preparing things to start fishing, these soldiers learned to fish using traps and bait to catch fish in the water.

It was not the same way that hunters knew, but it was also efficient to catch fish when they started to prepare things they heard a loud noise in the river a little distance from where they were.

The soldiers were startled to hear this noise because they were attentive to any animal that might appear, their torch was behind a tree so the animal that was in the water had not yet realized where they were.

One of the soldiers who had a better view was able to see a little where the animal was and panicked, even though he could not be sure looking at the river that was dark, he can see the large shape of an animal.

Few animals that this soldier knew were so big, and all the big animals could be dangerous for him and the other 4 soldiers, he realized that the other soldiers had not yet seen what animal it was and he was even more scared.

"Listen, speak softly and come with me to the forest, let's try to get out of here without making noise so the animal that is in the river doesn't realize that we are here."

"What was it, Pietro, you were never afraid of any animals, we had work to get to the river to fish, let's get something before we leave."

"Idiots, you don't know what animal is in the water, I saw what animal it was, now speak softly and come with me to the forest or we will all die."

"What animal is in the river then?"

"I'm not sure, but I think it's a bear, if it's a bear and he finds out we're dead, I'll go ahead and if you don't want to come with me you can stay there."

Pietro didn't want to take any more risks and started walking towards the camp without taking the torch, he didn't want the bear to notice him and that is why he thought it better to risk walking in the dark.

The other 4 soldiers were startled when they saw Pietro saying it was a bear if they were lions or lionesses they might even risk fighting, but they had never faced a bear and knew they could not win.

So the 4 decided to trust Pietro and went to follow him after taking their things, one of the soldiers took the torch to light the way because Pietro had not said anything to the other soldiers.

So after they walked for a while they heard a powerful roar coming from the river, hearing this roar the soldiers were paralyzed with fear, it was certainly a bear roar and it seemed that the bear had seen them.

"RUN !!! RUN FOR THE CAMP !!!"

Pietro still shouted this to the other soldiers before starting to run into the forest in the darkness, the other soldiers were able to move again after hearing Pietro's shout and started running towards the camp after dropping the torch on floor.

When Pietro shouted the soldier who was on patrol heard something in the camp, he had not heard what Pietro had shouted, but in the silence of the forest at night he can hear something.

This soldier was very careful so hearing this he decided to wake up Jack and tell him that he had heard something, the soldier woke up Jack who got up quickly even though he didn't know what was going on.

Meanwhile Pietro had already dropped the things he was carrying and was just holding the sword in his hands and running in the darkness of the forest really hoping that he wouldn't end up stumbling and falling what would be death.

Pietro and the other soldiers thought that the river was close to the camp, but in a moment of urgency like this he realized how far the camp was actually far, the other soldiers were also running quickly after Pietro desperate because the bear that was far away was approaching.

Jack who was woken up by the soldier who was on surveillance and asked what had happened and the soldier said he had heard something in the forest, Jack was not angry with the soldier for having woken him up without knowing what it was and went to the exit of the camp to see if I heard anything.

Jack couldn't count on his intuition to predict the dangers, that was because his intuition only warned him when something horrible could happen to him or someone close to him, so even if other soldiers died he wouldn't feel any warning before.

Jack waited for a few minutes and could not hear anything, realizing this the soldier who was waking up he started to be worried that nothing was happening and that he would be punished for waking Jack for no reason.

Jack waited until he heard a loud roar coming from the forest, hearing that roar Jack knew it was a bear, so he took his bow and arrow and sword too and went to where the soldiers were sleeping in the tents to wake them up.
