The Hunt Continues 4

"In addition, there must be more packs of wolves like the one our group killed, wolves are very dangerous."

"I understand that, but there is nothing we can do, Captain Max's orders were that you gather a group of soldiers and do a big hunt in the forest, you ended up doing 4 hunts and killing hundreds of wild animals."

"I know there are still a lot of wild animals in the forest, but we have nothing we can do about it, you and the other soldiers have already spent 4 months here on the Royal Road, it's time for you to go back to the capital."

"Robert, if you want I can stay a few more months here in the forest to do some more hunting."

"I cannot ask you for this, Jack, besides, the other soldiers have to go back to the capital and you will be alone and you will have to gather another group of soldiers, I know this is not an easy thing to do."

"Go back with the other soldiers in the group you organized, you did what you could to help Royal Road."

With Robert saying that Jack no longer insisted on staying on the Royal Road, the truth was that Jack didn't really mind staying on the Royal Road and continuing to hunt like that.

He lived a long time being a hunter because he liked it, so walking in the forest was something he did happily, besides, he could help Captain Max even more and also stay away from the city and he didn't risk meeting with the trader Jan Stokes.

After a few days, Jack and the other soldiers returned to the capital after spending 4 months on the Royal Road, the soldiers who did the 4 hunts with Jack felt better about what they did and felt that they had learned a lot in the last few months.

Of course, all the soldiers were happy to be able to return to the city, at a time when there was no war going on, the soldiers just had to train and help the capital's guards.

Now that they had come back after spending 4 months on the Royal road it would be more than 2 years before they had to go back to the Royal road again, in those 2 years the war could happen so they didn't know if they would go back to the Royal road yet.

Unlike the other soldiers who had a home to return to, Jack and other soldiers had to return to the tower where the army stayed because that was where they lived, Jack even more because he would have to speak to Captain Max as soon as he returned to the capital.

Unlike when Jack left the capital, the soldiers who came back earlier than him and were on the Royal Road talked a lot about Jack and what he had done and how he was a good leader for soldiers killing wild animals.

"Jack, I'm happy to see that you came back well after those difficult 4 months on the Royal Road, I've heard a lot about you and what happened on your hunts in the past few months, you did a much better job than I expected."

"Thank you, Captain, I did what I could in the short time that I had, for sure the soldiers who went with me for the hunts were very important for the success of this mission."

"You're right, Jack, I got a letter from Robert and I also heard other soldiers who went on this hunt with you, I also heard about the 5 soldiers who brought you trouble."

"I still haven't given them any punishment, I was waiting for you to come back to decide what punishment they should receive, what is your opinion?"

"I don't think they should be punished, they certainly made mistakes and did the opposite of what they were taught in the army, but after the night the bear attacked they tried hard to help a lot in the fight against animals."

"It is impossible for them not to receive a punishment, they have committed serious crimes and almost caused the death of the other soldiers, they must be punished to learn from their mistakes and also so that other soldiers learn that they must not make the same mistakes as they do. "

"I understand, the best punishment I think they should take is having to go back to the Royal road and stay there for 1 year, the soldiers hate to stay on the Royal road and what they learned from me can help to leave the Royal road safer."

Jack tried to help the soldiers not to be punished because of something that involved him, after all as he said even though the soldiers had committed crimes they learned from their mistakes and tried to help in the hunt.

Max heard Jack's idea and had to admit that he had not thought of any of this, he thought of making the most serious punishment which was to execute the soldiers or leave the soldiers in prison for a few months.

He also thought about taking their wages, but some of the soldiers had family and their family would suffer if he cut the soldiers' wages, Max even thought of giving physical punishment to the soldiers as he did not like to do.

But he had not thought that sending the soldiers to the Royal road could be considered a punishment, when he thought about it he realized that the soldiers really did not like going to the Royal road.

And if he sent the 5 soldiers to the Royal Road, they would stay 1 year away from their family and help further protect the other soldiers who did not know how to fight wild animals.

"Okay, well, I do what you suggested, Jack, so I hope they learn not to disobey you or anyone else in the army anymore."

"But let's change the subject now, Jack, as I said I received a letter from Robert that he sent along with some soldiers who came with you."

"In the letter, he praises your work in those 4 months and said that you asked to do three more hunts and killed many wild animals even bringing the animals' skins and hides as proof of their work."

"I was really impressed with your dedication and thank you for your work on the Royal Road, I would definitely approve you to do 4 hunts in the forest and I think your decision was very good."

"Thanks for the compliments, captain."

Jack didn't expect him to be so praised by Captain Max, he thought he had done only what he had been told to do and what he had learned as a hunter, but Captain Max could see how many lives Jack can save by doing this.
