A New Day

As Leon's sleep was rudely interrupted by the sun peeking in through his window onto his closed eyes he groaned. Slowly opening them and taking in the remarkable site of his ceiling in all its glory. He looked towards his window to notice the cracks of light sneaking in through the slits in his blinds. The day had begun while he was sleeping. Considering whether or not to go back to sleep

he kicked off the blanket laying over his body and sat up he took in the site of his room with the generous amount of light coming in.

[Damn guess it's another day already, huh?]

Leon thought to himself. He reached towards his phone on the edge of his table and checked the time.

[Huh guess I woke up a bit later than usual, I did stay up until 4 last night though playing with the boys and trying out that new FPS]

Taking his phone of the charger and browsing through any new messages he might've gotten he slowly got out of bed and prepared to face his day off from stocking shelves and dealing with rude customers. He went to the bathroom to do his morning ritual when he met with some light teasing from his mother.

"Oh my look who finally got up, I was worried the sun would be down before you were even up."

His mother giggled from the couch down the hall. Ignoring her taunts he went to the bathroom and went about his stuff. After brushing his teeth he went ahead and washed his face. He looked up into the mirror. Although there's really nothing to write home about he still thought he looked pretty good. Although he might not be handsome he could still be considered above average right? His hair though light brown had a hint of gold peeking through, dirty blonde. The only thing that could be considered of note about him though was his emerald eyes, there was no other way to describe them other than mesmerizing even with the bags under them from his usual lack of sleep.

[Today feels a bit weird, did I not get enough rest? I mean it was a little over nine hours so I should be fine, right?]

He thought as he washed his face with cold water. He went to the kitchen to get some kind of breakfast and had a casual chat with his mom. He finally sat in his old office chair setting his bowl of five star cereal, which he had made himself like the 'chef' he was. He turned on his computer to browse the internet and get some entertainment. He first opened his web browser and then went to his favorite video sharing site, or rather than favorite the one that dominated over every other one. Checking the front page he saw a couple of his favorite creators uploaded something new and opened them in different browsers before anything else to watch them while eating his cereal.

As he was looking through the front page a video caught his attention:

'Illusion Magic Pranks In Public (Gone Wrong) (Ice Thrown) (Magic Fight)"

[What the hell? Didn't these videos stop trending a while ago? And magic? Like David Blaine?]

Moving his mouse over the thumbnail the previews showed a police car, some prick being an ass in public, a disappearing $100 dollar bill, and a snowball hurtling towards the prick.

[A new type of trick? Good for magicians I guess. Also a snowball in summer? Without any snow on the ground? Sure.]

He wanted to ignore the video since these videos were generally low quality and just plain boring or faked, but something in his mind just compelled him to watch it. As he opened the video in another tab he started eating.

[Well worse case scenario I can just watch one of the actually good videos I just saw]

Clicking on the tab he opened the prank video in he prepared himself for disappointment from yet another bad, low effort prank video. As he watched he slowly forgot to eat and paid some attention to it. It opened like you'd imagine with the prick welcoming people to his channel, plugging his merch, and introducing the prank. While he was introducing it though Leon got a surprise when the bill in his hand disappeared.

[Oh that's some pretty good editing]

As the prick was still talking about the prank he scrolled down to the comments.

"Man this was great, I wish I could use magic but I'm just a normie :("

"that second chick was hot af should've kept her on screen longer "

"maaan that was greeeaat i loved this "

"Stop plugging your merch every five seconds it's annoying ya prick"

Seeing the top comment Leon was beside himself thinking it was another lurker joining the weird atmosphere. He continued scrolling through the comments noticing comments mostly like the second and the fourth comment, nobody mentioning how good the editing was with the disappearance of the bill. He scrolled back up to the video just in time to see one of the pranksters victims making a snowball from thin air and throwing it at him.

This was Leon's first encounter with magic.
