Chapter 22. The guest
After Alex left with the lady, his friends also took the initiative to leave. After they left Larry and the rest sigh before returning to talking while walking towards the school entrance where they bid each other goodbye before going their separate ways. Frank and John did not bother to take a cab home but intend they continue to walk their way home "it seems like Alex is very fearful of the woman that came to pick him up" said John while they were walking home.
"It seems like it, do you see the way he even behave towards us like we were good friends with each other"asked Frank.
"Yeah he even bid us goodbye which is unlike the Alex I know"repiled John who wear a confused look on his face.
"Could it be that the woman was actually Alex mother" asked Frank.
"She is not his mother,I have met his mother countless times when coming to school"replied john.
"Since you are saying you have already met his mother then who could she be"asked Frank.
"Don't have any idea but since Alex was actually fearful of her, she had to be a relative"replied John.
"It could be possible"said Frank.
They walked for a while discussing about other things before arriving at John place where they went in after the door was opened by John father who seems to be going out, when they got in John and Frank were about to head to his room Mrs Kovacs came out of the kitchen while holding a bottle of water and was walking towards the living room when she heard Frank and John greeting her and she smiled before replying them "good afternoon kids how was school today"
"It was okay mother" replied John while walking to his room.
When she saw them walking towards John room she noticed that they did not greeted the guest that was watching movie in the living room and she chuckle before calling at to Frank and John who stop walking and turned back to asked Mrs Kovacs if there's anything she needed help with but before he could say a word Mrs Kovacs quickly asked him while still smiling "did you guys greeted the guest that was sitting in the living room before going to your room"
John was stum by his mother question since she was the only one at home "what guest are you talking about, ain't you the only one at home" replied John who was still confused about the question.
"Did you bother looking at the living room before going to your room"asked Mrs Kovacs while laughing.
"I thought dad was the one that left the tv on before going out"replied John.
They walked back to the living room where they saw a fair lady sitting on the chair while facing the tv, she seems really focus on watching the movie, when Frank saw her he became surprised because the guest Mrs Kovacs was actually talking about was Aunty Pat. Frank walk up to her and greeted her while still confused about why is his Aunty doing here.
When Aunty Pat heard the familiar voice greeting her, she turn around only to see Frank standing beside her while looking at her in confused way and she could not understand the reason why he was looking at her like that and asked him directly "why are you looking at me like you have seen a ghost".
"Am sorry for looking at you strangely but I find it difficult to understand why you are here"replied Frank while he was still.
"Oh is that the reason why you are looking at me like that, incase you don't know am here for a visit"replied Aunty Pat while smiling at Frank.
"Okay Aunty Pat, I forgot that you already knew Mrs Kovacs"said Frank.
"Hahaha, silly child do you know that I would have g one if not for Mrs Kovacs telling me to wait for your return since you will be coming here"replied Aunty Pat.
"Am sorry for wasting your precious time because you were waiting for me"said Frank.
"It's nothing besides this way your mother will be too stressed thinking of how she is going to take you home"replied Aunty Pat.
"Good afternoon Aunty"said John after seeing that Frank and his Aunty are do with their conversation.
"Good afternoon John how are you doing"said Aunty Pat while smiling at John .
"Am fine thank you"replied John.
"Mrs Kovacs already told me that you guys always study together after coming back from school, so if you kids don't mind you can go and study while I watched my movie"said Aunty Pat while increasing the TV volume.
"Okay Aunty Pat, we'll be taking our leave now and give you time to enjoy your movie"replied Frank.
Aunty Pat only smiled at Frank while giving him a hint leave quickly before she turned her head to face the TV. After being told to leave the living room and go and study, Frank and John went back to the room but on their way they saw Mrs Kovacs whom was walking towards the living room and winked at them when she saw them going to John room.
When they got to his living room, John first of all drop his bag on his bed before taking off his uniform and went to the bathroom to shower and later came out while cleaning his wet hair with a towel before putting on some clothes and went to sit on his bed where he picked up his bag and took out some notebook. When Frank saw that John was done bathing he also brought out his notebook and they started with studying for a long time while Aunty Pat and Mrs Kovacs were busy watching movie while making some comments about the movie.
After they were done studying, Frank put his notebook back into his bag and went to the living room where he saw them still watching the movie before calling out to her and telling her that he was done studying. Aunty Pat got up and pick up her bag before thanking Mrs Kovacs for keeping her company and bid her good day before leaving their apartment and headed for their home.
