7# The Dripping Mane

Adrik and his herd mourned the loss of a herd member, John and his dad mounted the unicorn head on the wall, and Navisca slowly made her way over to the shore. She shook the water off and sighed. "No humans." She said to herself. She started grazing peacefully, but suddenly she heard a loud squealing sound. Navisca's white eyes shifted towards the shore where she saw Willow who changed her pelt from white to black dragging a goat into the water. The lake bubbled rapidly and a couple of splashes broke the surface, but then the water became still. Navisca changed her pelt into a beautiful white horse to disguise herself. She trotted around the lake looking for prey. "Why am I out here!? When the world is dangerous with these new creatures?" Navisca thought to herself gazing over the water. "The world will get worse if we don't annihilate these humans." She said kicking a water raate. She looked at the water and saw her kelpie self staring back at her. "Woah, I will have to stay away from water then, these humans are smart, if I were to catch one, they would notice my reflection." She shook her head and her mane switched from blue to white, fading and bleeding colors together as she shook her head. When she stopped her mane turned back to white and her reflection revealed her white horse disguise. "Better.."

Suddenly a rope flew around her neck. Navisca reared and pulled her neck away, trying to get free. A small human came out of the bushes. The little girl giggle and started to pull the lead towards her. Navisca realized she had caught a human, well the human caught her. Navisca studied the small human. "It will be easy to pull this human into the water, it's little wait can't handle my force." Navisca said and looked at her white coat, it rippled slightly with stickiness. This girl looked possibly 10, maybe 12 and she was wearing boots. "Your OK, come on horse." She said, then she rolled Navisca an apple. Navisca sniffed the Apple curiously and took a nibble. It has been a while since Navisca has ever tried something that wasn't meat and she loved it.

Soon the little girl pulled Navisca into the village. Navisca halted at the entrance, she shook her head when the little girl looked back. "Come on!" She used both and and pulled backwards trying to pull her into the village. Navisca smirked and came forward, in result the little girl fell backwards onto the dirt. "Kathy! Kathy there you are!" A lady called from the village and approached them at the entrance. "Kathy... Is that a unicorn..." The lady said looking and studying Navisca carefully. Navisca thought to herself. "Unicorn? You really think that I am one of those petty disgruntles!?" Navisca neither and hoofed the dirt, trying to act like a normal horse. "Oh yeah she's pretty normal alright! Look at these two black spots on her neck, and her tail ain't a lion's. Plus this non beauty is a shire horse!" The lady said smiling. "Crap." Navisca thought looking down slightly and seeing two black spots on her neck. "show er round, Kathy!" The lady said smiling before turning around and walking away. "Come on pretty, Don't listen to Marge, I think you're prettier than a unicorn." Kathy said before yanking one last time on the lead and Navisca started to follow her. Kathy took her around the village and the villagers stopped and stared at her. Navisca looked at the middle of the village and saw all of these table like things set up with small boxes. Navisca took a deep breath in and could smell all of the food coming from those tiny boxes. "That's the farmer's market." Kathy said smiling. Navisca also noticed some other boxes that where all different sizes had bars on them. Suddenly a man almost ran into them. "Watch it! Eww! That beast got me wet!." The man said as he was being pulled by a massive dog. The dog happened to be sniffing the back side of the farmer's market, so he didn't notice Navisca. Navisca glanced at her mane to find it still wet. Navisca looked up and saw that there where dogs everywhere. She gulped and stamped her hooves nervously. There was a big black German Shepard that was staring at them intently from behind a house. "Oh that's Midnight, he's not that friendly." Kathy said trying to pull Navisca the other way. Midnight took a few steps forward towards them and then started running. Navisca reared as Midnight went to jump, but suddenly was pulled back. A chain was around Midnight's neck that was put around a pole in her owner's yard. Midnight growled and tried to get free. Kathy yanked Navisca and they both walked towards this weird brown building, away from the village. "Here, pretty." Kathy said giving her an apple. Surprisingly, Kathy had not touched Navisca, good. She unleaded Navisca and Navisca ran around in the pasture. Kathy waved and left the pasture and headed towards the village. Navisca breathed a sigh of relief, she was going to transform when something from in the barn made a cluttering sound. Navisca looked and saw weird brown and white animal with two horns. There where big pink and black creatures that snorted as she came in. There were this over weight birds that made weird clicking sounds. Then Navisca looked at the figure sitting on top of the hay bill. The creature was black and had huge yellow eyes, the creature stood up and a long noodle protruded up from it's back. The medium size creature approached Navisca making these weird humming noises, the animal stopped and looked up at Navisca. "Get outta my barn!" The animal said, it sounded like a hiss. "Oh I didn't know this was yours." Navisca said nervously. "You know, I could claw your eyes out, but us farm cats, aren't dramatic like you equestrians." The cat said again in a hussy, whispery voice. "I am not an equest-" "You sure as hell look like one! Don't fool me Missy." The cat said with a weird gurgly, growling sound. "I am sorry, what's your name?" Navisca said shyly. "And give me one question why I would tell a pea brain like you?" The cat said with a flick of his tail. "I'm sorry." Navisca said and started to back up out of the barn. "You should be..." The cat said and turned around. He scratched his back feet against the ground, like he was kicking something at Navisca. He laid on top of the haybills and watched Navisca. "You know I still see you!" he yowled. Navisca shook her head and snorted. The sun was almost down and wagon came towards the barn. A man jumped out and closed the barn doors, Navisca watched him from the other side of the pasture. He was a big man, with hair on his chin. "Oh come on horse! Back in your stall!" The man called. He had a stick in his hand. Navisca gulped and stamped nervously again, but then she realized, it was a normal stick, the kind that doesn't kill. The man herded her into the stalls and closed the doors.
