9# Equestrian Haven

Navisca looked around the stalls in slight amazement. There were other horses, all kinds where in here. Navisca noticed there where atleast more than one horse in each stall. They laughed and continued talking as Navisca walked down towards and empty stall. She sat laid down in the stall quietly. "Hey" a voice said. "Psst! Hey you!" The voice said again. Navisca stood up and looked around, then she noticed the horses face in the other stall next to her. "Uh hello." Navisca said shyly. "Hello! My name is Lad, you are new! I saw farmer hairy bring you in!" Lad said smiling. "Yeah I can-" "Of course you have to stay here." Lad said flicking his horse tail. "Wait what!?" Navisca said looking around. "Yeah farmer hairy doesn't open the barn until nine in the morning." Lad said nodding. "Well, why dose he keep the doors shut?" Navisca said looking at the doors. "it's because-" Lad was cut off by a loud deep neigh. Heavy tromping approached them. "Well, Well, Well" the voice said approaching them. "Oh great, Brutus." Lad said with a sigh. "Hey there Lady!" Brutus said with a laugh. "it's Lad, not lady." Lad said snorting. "Oh shut up, we all know you're gay!" Brutus said laughing once more. Brutus was a big, muscular, brown, bobtail horse. He had two young mares following him, laughing with him. "So, who's this new comer?" Brutus said with a sneer. As Brutus came close to Navisca's stall. Navisca noticed Brutus had scars on his chest. "So... what's your name." Brutus said with a lip flutter. "Navisca.." Navisca said nervously. "Well, Navy, as you can see, hairy doesn't let outside horses into Horse Haven." Brutus said looking up and down at Navisca. "Hmph, you're not even that pretty as my side mares, or half of the other mares." Brutus said winking at Lad. "Good luck finding a guy who likes you here, or you can always take lady over here!" Brutus said laughing again. Lad rolled his eyes. "I'm not gay by the way! And he knows my name is not Lady!" Lad snorted. "What does he mean, Horse Haven? Is this Horse Haven?" Navisca said as she watched the other horses go into their stalls. "Yep, this is Horse Haven, it's like heaven here." Lad said smiling. Navisca nodded as she watched Brutus step on a platform over by a barrel and the lights went out. Navisca laid down and thought about what Brutus had said to her and Lad.

Suddenly Navisca was awoken by a loud scratching noise. Navisca yawned and blinked her eyes twice as she looked around the stable. She noticed some horses where awake, and they looked terrified. "What's going-" "Shhh!" Lad said sharply. Navisca looked out the small barred window in her stall. Her eyes shifted around and she didn't catch anything suspicious. Suddenly she could see something sleek and black walk passed the fence. Then another dark figure leaped onto the fence. Navisca looked away, fearing the creature had saw her. Navisca looked up again, the creature was gone, but she couldn't tell so she squinted. Suddenly something jumped up against the small barred window. "Come on out horses!" The creature said trying to stick it's jaws threw the bars on the window. Navisca looked at the creature and realized it was a dog of some sort, it had tan and light brown fur, and a long bushy tail. Navisca also noticed the spots on it's fur and the wild hair on it's head that ran to it's back. "Navisca they are cross breeds!" Lad said quietly. "Damn right you are.... Come on out, we don't bite. Much!" The sinester creature said and started laughing. The laugh sounded like a hyenas mixed with a coyote yelp. "Dario shut up!" a gravely voice said with a growl. A creature with grey and white skin peer through the window. "Ahh, it's nice to see another mythical, here...." The grey hairless creature said snarling, his bright blue eyes shimmered. Navisca flattened her ears against her head and glared at the creature. "We only go after goats, but a horse might make an acception." The voice said gurgling. "You can't even get in here Chupacabra!" Navisca yelled at the hairless dog. He drooled and snarled quietly at Navisca. "Well, lucky for you kelpie, we aren't eating a decaying flesh bag like you." He snarled. "Grim." Dario said with a growl. "We should get going, let's get the goat and get out!" Dario said sniffing towards the barn. "Watch your back kelpie..." He said flashing his thin pointy teeth. Navisca swiftly turned around and kicked threw the bars of the window knocking Grim down. Grim coughed, he growled in pain and rubbed his eye. Grim looked up revealing the damage she had done to him. Grim's eye was white and a red mark was around his left eye. "Let's go Dario!" Grim wildly snarled and they walked towards the barn. "ooh! Nice shot!" A horse said from the stall across from Navisca stall. The lights flicked on, Brutus was staring at her in suspicion. "Explain yourself white temptress!" Brutus snorted. "Yes I can explain myself." Navisca said with a sigh. "Those are chupacabras, they mainly eat goats." Navisca said looking at her hoof. "And he called me a kelpie because, I was raised on a farm that had Australian Kelpie dogs." Navisca lied. She gulped quietly in fear they might find out. Brutus laughed. "That makes sense!" he said. Then everyone started laughing. Suddenly loud gun shots where heard and everyone looked out their windows. They saw farmer Hairy chase off one of the chupacabra on his horse. He shot his gun, but missed. Navisca saw the killing stick this time, it was a silver color. Navisca shuttered and remembered the time when she almost got shot. "Don't worry, you will be able to walk in the pasture and forget what ever happened last night." Lad said smiling as farmer Hairy opened the doors.
