"Ngh..." Groaning in pain, Mezu tried to get up from the floor. Raising his head, he was met by two pairs of crimson eyes, sending chills down his spine. Jun's evolved into a two-tomoe, thanks to their earlier fight.
"For now, let's turn this guy into our source of information." Narrowing his eyes, Masaki grabbed Mezo by the neck, raising him.
"Wh-what are you going to do to me ..." Struggling to breathe, Mezu placed both hands on Masaki's forearm but was unable to move it. With fear pervading his entire body, he struggled even to stay conscious.
"You're going to be of some use to me." Masaki's cold words trailed off, as his Sharingan spun rapidly. The three tomoe merged with his pupils, taking on the shape of a Mangekyou.
"Stay still."
As soon as Mezu came into contact with Masaki's eyes, he stopped struggling. Seeing this, the old man let him go and deactivated his eyes, holding his head in pain.
"Are you ok, Masaki-san?" Jun couldn't reveal that he knew of the Mangekyo, so he could only pretend to be ignorant. Seeing Masaki's condition, he understood that the man was reaching his limit. After all, the price of these ocular powers was not small.
"Yeah, I'm alright... Anyways, I've put this guy under a genjutsu." At his words, Mezu slowly rose to his feet, running out of the house. Watching him leave, Masaki continued. "I set it up so that he'll return to normal in a few minutes and only remember losing to me. Now and then, the jutsu will take effect, and he'll come right back to relay information."
This was Masaki's secret ability. His eyes granted him the power to place the target under a dormant genjutsu that altered their memories. Every so often, it would activate, and the target would do his bidding.
Because of its hidden nature, no one ever found out about it. Masaki did well to keep it a secret and used it sparingly. After all, he didn't want to go blind.
Hearing his words, Jun raised his eyebrow. This was quite the ability.
"Because of what happened, I no longer feel safe leaving you out in the lake-side cabin. I'll arrange a room for you and your brother in my residence, so pack your stuff and come here as soon as possible." Masaki's house was enormous, being one of the larger properties in the village. Because of this, he had rooms to spare.
Hearing this, Jun nodded. Although he would miss that place, he'd feel better if Aito stayed here during the summer. Masaki would always be nearby, discouraging others from making any suspicious moves.
"Do you need me to assign a few bodyguards to watch over you?" Masaki didn't know if it was safe to let Jun go on his ninja duties. If Danzo made a move, he wouldn't be able to prevent it.
"It's ok, Masaki-san. I have a few tricks up my sleeve." Saying this, Jun merged with the ground and disappeared from Masaki's perception. Noticing this, the old man understood.
"So that's how you beat those two... Incredible." At his words, Jun appeared once again and shrugged. Masaki couldn't believe that a genin was not only capable of defeating two Anbu and also run away from him. It was preposterous. "It seems like our clan has once again produced a prodigy... I hope that you can achieve what we spoke of in the meetings. I truly do."
Hearing Masaki's words, Jun slightly bowed and left to get Aito. From now on, they'd be living with the clan-head.
