Chapter 2.2

On getting back to the office, Jeff hurriedly looked up Tina Lawrence's profile. The picture was a bit outdated because her features looked rather young. Her profile was outstanding, and Jeff was in awe of this 27-year old's achievements. For some reason, he could not stop being curious about her.

Throughout the morning, he kept his eye on his watch, checking every minute if it was time for lunch. Even his assistant realized that his big boss was distracted. As soon as it was 11:30, he made it way out of his office.

"Boss, what should I order for you today? Madam already warned me to not let you miss out on any meal," Assistant Bob spoke up, blocking his boss's way.

Jeff wished he could bulldoze Bob out of the way, but that wouldn't be very gentlemanly of him.

"Bob, dear Bob, I am currently heading out to lunch. No need to worry."

Not believing his boss, "Boss, I don't want to lose my job. Madam told me to monitor you closely and make sure to eat a balanced meal."

Jeff was losing steam at this moment, "am I your boss or is my mother your boss?"

"You are my boss, and madam is the bigger boss," Bod answered shamelessly.

With a deep sigh, he managed to calm down, "tell my mother that I will be having lunch with my ID. New home, new wife, new baby. Make sure to tell her that."

Stunned by his boss's reply, he didn't know when he was shoved aside.

Jeff took large strides towards his car and made his way to his lunch appointment. His order was taken, and he headed to the bathroom to freshen up before Tina arrived.

As he made his way to his seat, he saw the staff approaching also with a cup of coffee at hand. He took it instead and made his way towards the woman reading the file. Just seeing her back made his heart go crazy. He must also be crazy!

He tried his best to look unenthusiastic and he placed the cup down and took his seat. When saw that she noticed the cup, he lifted his head and held his sweaty palms together.

"Eye contact," he squealed in his mind. Why did she feel so familiar?

He couldn't stop his mouth from moving before his mind consented, "have we met before?"

"Jinx," he thought. "We asked at the same time."

Jeff got his cute side from his mother. During her pregnancy, she had wished for a girl. To her dismay, Jocelyn became Jefferson. Making do with her child, she brought him up in a girl-ish manner, so he had a very cute side. However, he got his business character and etiquette from his dad, balancing him out.

"I don't think so. You seem really familiar however." She smiled at him before introducing herself.

Her voice drew him out of his fantasy. When he saw he smile, his heart tingled, and sparks went off in his mind. It seemed that he was really crazy.

After their introduction, he did his very best to listen to her suggestions. While Tina treated it as work, Jeff treated it as his wife-to-be making changes to their future home. After finding out that they had the same taste in style, he made a conclusion that they were fated together.

As the meeting was drawing to a close, he felt very bad that they had to part ways.

"How long do you think it's going to take?" he asked. He had his fingers crossed under the table, hoping that she'd say a year or two.

To his disappointment, she said 6 months, which dampened his mood a bit. He wanted to spend more time getting to know her. He made a resolve to make the most out of the 6 months and do his best to delay the project whenever he could.

He watched her get into her car before heading off to his. As he started the car, he got his phone out and texted his mom, "get ready to meet your daughter-in-law."

He smiled happily to himself while thinking of ways to delay the materials Tina wanted to order. The more they delayed, the more time he got to spend with her.

His fated had finally shown up!
