Chapter 15.1

When Jeff joined in the persuasion for her to stay, she felt slightly uncomfortable. Not because she found the whole situation uncomfortable, even though she did, it was mostly because Jeff did not stand by the decision she made.

She wasn't married to him yet and her parents had no idea she was in a relationship. Staying overnight when nothing was wrong seemed inappropriate to her. Also, she didn't want to lie to her parents if they asked her why she wasn't coming home.

Jeff's response definitely caught her off guard and seeing the expectation in the elders' eyes, she relented and agreed to their request. It was just one night. She made up her mind to not have date nights that exceeded 10pm. That way, this situation would not repeat itself.

She was clearly aware of his presence, but she was a bit angry with him.

"Change of clothes and toiletries," she spoke.

Remembering that he didn't take them yet, he rushed back downstairs to get them.

Just as he left the room, the phone in her hand buzzed. It was Lina.

"Sis, when are you coming home?" Lina's peaceful voice came through.

Tina sighed. "I won't be coming home until after work tomorrow. Jeff's mother and grandmother convinced me to stay over for the night."

"You don't sound so happy about that," Lina replied.

"Well, it's not appropriate and I don't feel comfortable staying. What am I supposed to tell mom and dad when they ask?"

"Don't worry. I've got you covered. Jeff texted me earlier to let me know."

When she heard that, she was a bit stunned. She suddenly realized what he meant when he said, "I've got it covered." So, he had an ally.

"I guess I was the only one who wasn't in on the plan, yeah?" she said in a stern tone.

Lina's laughter could be heard. "Well, give the dude a break, hmmn? Just rest there for tonight. He doesn't dare make a move on you knowing you've got a fierce baby sister."

Both sisters giggled together, then spoke for a while more before hanging up. After speaking with Lina, her anger dissipated, and she felt good again. She had her pepper spray for protection just in case Jeff wanted to play funky.

"Where will you be sleeping tonight?"

He looked at her, then at the bed that was big enough to contain 5 people, then looked at Tina again. His answer was obvious.

It was nice seeing how easy he was to tease. She felt comfortable after having a hot shower. The change of clothes she got was a flowery patterned gown with a black blazer. For the night, she wore Jeff's shirt and shorts. It felt good and they had his scent on them.

Exiting the bathroom, she clearly saw him with his eyes wide open looking all pitiful before he shut them in a hurry. She sneered inside. She took her space on the bed and her tiredness melted away. Maybe because he was there and she was surrounded by everything that carried his smell, her body relaxed, and she felt lighter.

She switched off the bedside lamp and watched as the man lying on the couch remained stiff.

'Was he not uncomfortable lying down like that?' she thought to herself.

Not long after, she noticed that he opened his eyes, and a smile crept up her face. She didn't take her eyes off him, so when he looked at her, she clearly saw the shock in his eyes.

"Even a child could tell that you were faking it," she said.

He didn't open his eyes out of embarrassment.

Tina spoke up again.

"I didn't tell you not to sleep on the bed, so why are you sleeping on the couch?"

He turned to her with confusion written on his face.

"I only asked you where you were sleeping tonight."

Her laughter erupted when he made his "enlightened" face. That'd teach him not to mess with her again.

As he was still shocked on the couch, she patted the space next to her on the bed.

"Come here. The couch is uncomfortable," she called out to him.

She saw his hesitation and he voiced it out right after, "are you sure?"

"Yeah. Come here," she said reassuringly.

After they both settled in, Jeff turned on his side and she met with his gaze as she looked towards him.

"Good now?" he asked as he ran his fingers through her hair.

"Yeah. I was just uncomfortable when you switched sides," she replied slowly as she ran her fingers across his facial features.

"I'll always take your side from now on. Also, I didn't want you to leave either. I missed you."

She couldn't hold back her chuckle.

"I should have held in my pee. If I didn't come in, you wouldn't change your mind."

"You think the oldies at my house won't drag you in? You're so innocent," he mocked her.

She pinched his nose and played with it for a while. Just who was this boy calling innocent?

Not long afterwards, the couple fell asleep. Although they didn't fall asleep in each other's embrace, they lied facing each other. That way, the first thing she saw when she opened her eyes was him.

Early the next morning, she washed up first and got ready for work before Jeff. No one was in the dining room when they both descended, but there was breakfast laid on the table already.

At 7:30am, they walked out of the house together and Jeff followed her to her car. She kissed him lightly on the lips before getting into the car.

He bent his long body and smiled, "see you Saturday."

She smiled back at him, "see you Saturday."

What a day Saturday was going to be.
