Without a doubt, Yang Yi could transfer Chris to the felony section as well if he was willing to pay the price.
Why would Yang Yi want to transfer Chris over as well to continue to be his cellmate? It was because Yang Yi believed he could learn a lot of things from the swindler.
Chris shouldn't be lying this time since Yang Yi had the first-hand information from Owen. He had scammed a lot of people and was working on a huge scam before he was arrested. It was unfortunate that he had failed when he was halfway to success.
There was just one point Chris had lied about. He was not as harmless as he suggested. The fact was Chris hadn't chosen to use money to keep his associate quiet when he had blackmailed him, he had instead chosen to have his associate murdered.
Thus, Chris had successfully resolved the issue of being blackmailed. Not only did no one know how Chris had killed him, there wasn't even a single soul who knew the associate had died.
However, the associate had set up a contingency plan before he was killed. In case Chris refused to pay him or he ended up dead, someone would send all the information on Chris to the police.
Although the person who extorted Chris disappeared, his associate still managed to expose Chris. He was consequently arrested by the police and indicted for a series of charges including murder and fraud.
Chris had no choice but to admit to the fraud charges because the evidence was conclusive. However, Chris refused to admit to the murder charges. The police couldn't find any evidence to support the charge anyway.
The person who had made sure Chris was exposed vanished when he went to collect the money from Chris. There was no blood, body or anything to be found that could be linked to Chris.
In the end, Chris was sent to prison, his pregnant girlfriend left him while his soon-to-be father-in-law wished for his death. These were the facts, the truth. On a side note, Chris was only twenty-two years old when all of this had happened. Thus, to a certain extent, it was true that Chris was a genius among swindlers.
Chris had never said anything about what happened to the person who blackmailed him. Yang Yi could understand why Chris wouldn't say anything. He wasn't dumb enough to reveal any incriminating evidence.
Chris could be considered a genius. Yang Yi believed he would be able to learn things from him. Thus, he had decided to ignore Chris's opposition and drag him along to keep him company in the felony section.
"We should sleep early. There will be a lot of opportunities for us to chat in the future. Goodnight Chris."
Chris was unable to shed any tears as he said in desperation, "I was just joking with you. Please don't do this to me. I will die if you take me over to that side. You have no idea what's it like there. So please don't get me involved."
Chris didn't seem to be worried about the danger the felony section would present based on his expression. It seemed more like he was worried that someone was going to exact revenge. So, Yang Yi asked out of curiosity, "What have you done? Why are you so afraid?"
"Bro, I was still quite young when I entered prison and there were two perverts who wanted me. However, I'm not as strong as you, so I could only play to my own strengths. I tricked them into thinking I was interested in both of them which lead to a knife fight on the recreation field. One of them ended up dead and the other was sentenced to life in prison."
Chris clasped both of his hands together and started pleading, "Please don't transfer me over to the felony section with you. I believe you're capable enough to do so. So, please don't get me killed."
Yang Yi had a funny expression on his face when he replied, "You're saying two men actually ended up fighting because of jealousy? They even fought with knives which ended with one of them being killed?
Chris was rather gloomy when he nodded, "That's exactly what happened. You understand how I feel, right?"
Yang Yi grunted and nodded, "Since you have put it that way, it would be irresponsible of me to transfer you over to the felony section. Even though you have lied to me, I wouldn't want to get you killed."
"Exactly, that's what I'm saying!"
After giving it some thought, Yang Yi solemnly said, "I will first find out the truth. You'll pay a heavy price if you've lied to me again. You previously said you'll treat your victims as fools when you're lying to them. I'm not sure if you're lying this time but let me remind you, you can treat everyone as fools but there are fools you can't afford to offend. I hope you will remember what I have told you."
Chris, without hesitation, raised his hands and hurriedly said, "I swear to God, I didn't lie to you about this. You can easily find out if you ask anyone."
Yang Yi nodded as he spoke to Chris, "Although you're a swindler, you can still be considered a talent."
"Thanks for the compliment."
Yang Yi slowly asked, "I would like to ask, do you want to change your destiny?"
"What do you mean?"
"I need talent. Frankly speaking, I need a talented underling. Am I being direct enough? Chris, as a swindler, the most important thing you should do when your identity is at risk of being exposed is run away. You made a wrong decision last time. Usually, you would have fled."
Chris turned gloomy and meekly said, "I wasn't sensible at that time."
"You did say your girlfriend was pregnant. That means you would have had a son. Moreover, you also fell in love with your girlfriend. You had everything. You didn't want to lose your girlfriend, son, wealth and status. That's why you didn't want to flee, right?
"It's none of your business! Stop talking!"
Yang Yi laughed and continued, "Oh, oh, a swindler can get emotional too. Seems like even a swindler has a sad past. I don't think that you couldn't let go of the wealth and fame. It's your girlfriend and soon-to-be born son you were reluctant to give up."
Chris stood up and started to scream at Yang Yi, "Shut up! I told you to stop talking!"
"Let me give you a chance."
The furious Chris subconsciously asked, "What? What do you mean? No, I don't believe there is anything you can do for me!"
Yang Yi seriously said, "I can give you what you want and get you back what you have lost. Not as a swindler but as an authentic upper society individual who has untold wealth. You'd be able to stand upright and take back everything."
Chris just whistled and didn't say a word.
Yang Yi chuckled, "Work for me and I will give you whatever you desire. Of course, there are no free lunches in this world. I won't hide anything from you and I won't threaten you. Working for me will be dangerous and it might even get you killed, but I can guarantee you one thing. Work for me and you will be rewarded for your efforts."
Chris quietly said, "What do you want me to do?"
Yang Yi smiled, "You don't have to answer me so quickly. Also, don't ask me anything for now. You're not my underling yet since you haven't passed my test. So, I won't transfer you over to the felony section. I will first give you a chance to prove your worth. There's no need to rush your decision. You should consider my proposal seriously. Come find me in the felony section if you want to regain everything you have lost."
Chris started gasping and suddenly laughed out loud, "I'm a swindler. Not an idiot. What do you mean work for you? You simply want an underling who is willing to do your bidding. Bro, you will have to give me more information if you want me to sell my life to you."
Yang Yi waved his hand as he said, "Nope, you aren't qualified yet. Chris, you're just a swindler. There's no way you can comprehend a world you can't relate to. However, I can give you a chance. If you can pass the test I give you, then you will be qualified to learn more."
Chris indignantly said, "In short, you want me to sell my life to you? Bro, you can't be so petty! You need to be more transparent if you want people to trust you. The only way I can go over to the felony section to accompany you is if I stab someone. The price is just too high!"
Yang Yi waved his hand again as he said, "It's up to you whether you're going or not. You know where to find me. You can slowly consider it but it's best you decide before I leave. You'll lose the chance then. I'm going to bed now. Goodnight."
