Romavena

"Justus, we acquired extra labor this time with ores as a bonus. Organize surveyors for mining prospects then send it to the northern cave. You may use the goblins for labor. " Amulius is in a hurry ever since he knew his potential enemies. Upon their arrival to their settlement, he noticed an arc at the entrance with a town name: Romavena, which means Rome's vein or Roman vein. Amulius was glad that his uncle has a great naming talent.

The Romavena is designed like any other Roman town but there are also difference since the location of this town is at the rivermouth. There are 4 main roads with a size of 8.5 meters-wide which is wider than a normal Roman town. The first main road is from north to south along the coast, which has a bridge that connects to the other side of the river that is still under construction. The second main road is an Arc shape that also connects the north-end of the 1st main road to the south-end, this road is beside the palisade that makes it easier to reinforce due to space. The 3rd and 4th maind road is along the riverside from east to west, these roads also connects the 1st main road to the 2nd main road. The other minor roads are 6 meters wide, that are placed in parallel so that the town will look more organize which makes it easy to go around.

There are 5 districts in the town, 1st is the Forum district which is the center of governance. The Forum district occupies the northeast part of the town near the coast. The Forum consists the Regia house, Comitium hall, Curia court, Tabularium building and Rostra in the main square. The Regia house which is the leader's residence located in northeast near the coast. The Comitium which is where the political and governing activities of the town which designed like an amphitheater. The Curia court where lawmakers gathered, this place is within the Comitium. Tabularium building is where the records of events and registry of every ihabitants of the town are stored, this place is heavily guarded beside the Regia house. The Rostra is the stage at the front of the public square which is often used for announcements and recreational activities. These buildings are all small and made up of bricks for now.

The market in the town is separated from the Forum district and the 3rd biggest district, this is known as the commercial district which is located at the center of the town beside the Rostra at the north and south side of the river along the main road that leads to the port. Both sides of the commercial district are connected by three wide bridges. The port is situated at the central coast of the town. In the commercial district, the food and water warehouses are situated for keepsake as the security here is second to the forum. There are market stalls with a few goods for sale in the market, such as food products, woodcrafts, kitchenwares, clothings, and other accessories. The legal tender that they use here is the currency from Roman britain with an image of the Roman emperor. As the center of the town, it is bustling as the current Roman population in the town is almost 3,000 including the Roman soldiers and slaves. The shops in the commercial district is not yet developed as these are made of wood including the port, but the warehouses for different essential products are made up of bricks. The commercial district is also where production is being made like the crafts shop, blacksmith shop and more.

The entertainment district occupies a small portion to the northern part of the commercial district. There is not much of entertainment here but it is better than nothing. The public bath is located here, although the aqueduct is still under construction, the water in the public bath is fetched from the river. The river is clean as Justus made it illegal to dump in the river to prevent a spread of disease. The water fetched from by the aqueduct is from the water falls a few hundred meters away from the settlement. There is also a public theatre made of wood here for any actors for small play and a recreational area that can be used for gladiator fights, race or circus but it is not yet functional. Everything here is prepared for further development.

The west part of the town is allotted for housing which makes it the housing district. This is the biggest district in the town. There is no distinction of social status in houses of this district, everyone lives here except for the leader who lives in Regia and the lawmakers who has small houses inside the Comitium. All of the infrastructures here in the town is made of brick, because they found a source of clay nearby. The aqueduct is different since it needs stone. The Roman masons are prioritizing the aqueduct and water pipes are also being prepared for every houses and infrastructures. The aqueduct is expected to be finished within the week.

There is also the military and research district. This district is the 2nd biggest district, it is divided into two section, the military and technology research. The district is located to the south of the commercial district. The military section is where the armory, legionary barracks including a practice field, archery range including a target stands, cavalry stables including a veterinary clinic, a mercenary barracks, and artillery production. The military section has its own gate for quick access to outside of the town. The military section is where recruits train and all soldiers lives here, their food and water supply is also separate from the civilians. The research section is just a small attachment inside the military section. This is where research for agriculture, medicine, domestication, alchemy, metallurgy, etc. are being researched for advancement. The research section also accepts disciples and assistants. The research section is also responsible for production of military weapons and machineries. As of now, the research section is not yet fully functional due to lack of personnels.

The rapid development of Romavena shown the advance carpentry, masonry and metallurgy of the Roman civilization. The Romans here are not corrupt and hedonistic as they are from Roman Britain and they practice the true Roman discipline. These Roman Britons are more rational beings. Discipline and productivity is their main principle in life.

After admiring the projects in the town, Amulius went out to check the fields. Their slaves from Roman Britain became the farmers and carrying jobs. They mostly do the hard jobs but in production, the Romans handle it. They are very careful in production, the slaves are different as most of them were just forced to work. Most slaves are assigned to do farming of wheat and cultivate other edible vegetation that they recently discovered. Through the main gate of the town, you can see goblins that are carrying stones, gold, silver and other ores from the hul'juk cave. A road can also be seen being paved on the way to the hul'juk cave to speed up the transportation. Inside the hul'juk cave, there are 60 goblins who were forced to mine while the remaining 140 goblins will carry the ores back to the Romavena town. Amulius is not that cruel, he ordered the construction of the goblin hives which consists of numerous huts to house the 200 goblins. The hive is at the military district of the town, it has wooden walls with sentries. The goblin hive looked more like a prison rather than a hive. Unbeknownst to Amulius, these goblins are unconditionally loyal to him because he slew their chief. In the goblin tradition, might is right. These goblins worshipped him but it is imperative that the inferior ones should keep their mouth shut and these goblins have no complains to what Amulius ordered them to do.

"Felix, how is our food production?" Amulius asked Felix, he is an officer within the immunes in his century. Felix is an expert in agriculture, he was a farmer in Italia before he was conscripted. Amulius appointed him in food production, Felix then formed the Department of Agriculture. Felix hired peoples who has experience as a farmer including the slaves.

"We're managing sir. The land here is very fertile that all types of crops we brought can be planted here, its like a miracle land! Aside from wheat, barley peas and beans, we started cultivating olives and grapes near the walls. There are also other crops such as artichokes, celery, beets and many more. As for the bread production, a bakery is already producing enough for everyone. The farming tools that we brought also proved useful." Felix know that a town needs not just a stable source of food, but a bountiful supply so that they are prepared for any crisis that might happen. Felix is an optimist, like-minded with Amulius.

"That is very pleasurable to hear. I was not mistaken to entrust you the food production. Good job Felix." Upon saying this, Amulius bid his goodbye. He went back to the town to check the Regia, his residence.

"Good job Cassius, the house is well organize." Amulius complimented Cassius, his personal equite (later known as 'knights'). Cassius is someone he hired in Gaul (modern day France) while he was commissioned to the German frontier in Rhine. Cassius was just a street brawler before, he has no family nor any known blood-kin. He is an orphan, his ancestry is not also known. But based on his gigantic stature and naturally well-built muscles, he is rumoured to be a Scandinavian. His natural talent to wield the battle axe is the proof of that rumour. Whatever his origin may be, Cassius is a good man that is why Amulius took him in and gave him a custom-made battle axe specially designed for him. Cassius is the commander of his personal cavalry unit, he is mostly just silent beside Amulius.

The next morning, Amulius went to receive reports from his head scout. "Shadow, how is the developments outside the town?" Shadow as the head scout of Amulius, is assigned to be his eyes where to the place where he can't go. Shadow and his team are scouting the orcs 30 kilometers away from Romavena town, the scouts also patrols the mountain range from time to time. Shadow's activities is only known to Amulius and no other person knows it. These scouts are honed in the Britannic forest. They used to scout the Celts, Picts and the druids. His scouts also perform assasination.

"There are no abnormalities in their routine. The harpies are as always, defensive. We also found traces of Flavio, they are headed to the west. Other than that, therevis nothing for you to worry. " Ever since Flavio left them, Amulius ordered Shadow to monitor Flavio's whereabouts to some extent. This time, Flavio really headed west as they might have believed that Rome is on the west. Hearing the scouts report, Amulius then went to Comitium.

" Uncle Justus, how is the development of the town?" Amulius inquired to his uncle because he delegated the governing role to Justus. His uncle runs the town.

"What do you say about assembling Ministries for each sector?" Justus is experienced in governance, he knows that a town with great potential cannot be govern by a single person.
