Part-time job

"Let's start, we only have 1 hour 45 minutes left." Min Jun said looking at his watch.

"Alright." Min Yue said and start explains the project.

1 hour 45 minutes later.

"Remember to get your part done by Thursday!" Ming Yue said as she packs up her things

"Alright! See ya! Gotta head to the company now!" Min Jun said running out of the cafe door.

"Bye!" Lee Kang said following Min Jun.

"Xiao Qing, let's go." Ming Yue said.

Then her phone ring.

"I gotta take this." Ming Yue said as she picks up her phone.

After a few minutes she came back.

"I'm so sorry, I can't come back with you. You'll have to go alone, something came up. Bye bye, take care!" Ming Yue said.

"Bye!" I typed.

Because it was still early, I decided to go around the city for a bit since I haven't gotten a chance to do so. While going around, I saw a bakery, they were hiring. Since I didn't have much money, I decided to go and see if I could get hired.

"Hello, are you still hiring?" I typed as I enter the bakery.

"Oh yes, I'll get the manager. Wait a second." Said the employee as he left to get the manager.

"Here she is." He said

"This is the manager, Marcus." He turned to me and left.

I bowed then typed, "Hello, my name is Xiao Qing. I saw that you were hiring."

"Oh, we're in need of a shopkeeper right now. Are you interested?" He replies

"Yes but I'm mute."

"That's no problem. The job doesn't require talking. Why don't you have a seat over there, I'll bring out the employment contract."

"Alright." I typed and took a seat at a table

After a few minutes, the manager came back out.

"This is the employment contract. Read over it and tell me what you think."

"Does all of this applies to part timer?"

"Yes. One question though, are you a university student around here?"

"Yea, Shanghai University, I'm an exchange student."

"Oh study hard!"

"I will."

"What time are you able to work?"

"My classes ends at 5pm so I'm available after 5pm."

"Then can you work from 6pm to closing? Our shop closes at 9pm."

"That wouldn't be a problem."

"That's good then, you can start working tomorrow. Since your shift start at 6pm, come around 5:30pm. I'll have someone show you around."

"Oh that's great. Thank you!"

"No problem."

"Have a great day then!"

"Have a great day, see you tomorrow."

And so, I left the bakery. Now that I have a job, I can afford things.

The next day.

"You're here!" Said the shopkeeper whom i met yesterday.

I bowed gesturing hello.

"Follow me." He said heading to a door.

I quickly follow him

"This is the locker for employees. You can change into your uniform in one of those room. This is your locker, you can put your personal stuff in here. Here's your uniform, change into it and come out to the counter when your done. I'll show you what you're supposed to do." He said and left

After getting changed, I put away my stuff as instructed and went back out.

"Xiao Qing, come over here!" Said the same person from before.

"Oh right, I forgot to introduce myself. I'm Yuan Jun, one of the part-timer here. That guy over there is Tian Hao. This is the recipe book for the drinks we have here. You'll just have to follow them accordingly. The orders would be put over here on this station, you'll just have to follow what the order said and pack them. The baked good and sweets are here. There are more baked good and sweets in our kitchen. You'll have to bring out more baked good and sweets to fill up the empty spaces in the cabinet like these every hour. If we run out, it's out for the day. These four are quite popular so I recommend you bring a lot when you refill them. And that's pretty much it." Yuan Jun said as he points things out.

"Any question does far?" Yuan Jun asks turning to me.

I shake my head.

"Okay. Normally you won't need to take the orders but when we're short on staff or during busy hours, you might have to step in. So I'll just teach you how to use this in those case where we are short on staff." Yuan Jun said and began to show me how to work the technology.

"That's pretty much it. You can start working. If you have any question, feel free to ask me or Tian Hao." Yuan Jun said and left to take a order from the customers.

And so I began working.

The employees slowly left one by one until it was only me and Yuan Jun left.
