Misplaced

Zi Xiang was curled up with his head facing the ground, his body lying still against the ground.

The mantid had moved on past Zi Xiang to go and pick through the insides of the wolf carcasses, its little pincers tearing out little bits of flesh, that moved along the line upwards towards the mouth and bit by bit the carcass lost flesh. It was a slow methodical process though it moved with a cathartic quickness. Each pincer swinging back and forth stripping meat away from the carcass to feed itself in an instinctive insectoid manner.

After gazing back down at Zi Xiang for awhile it withdrew back into the expansive fog its massive figure faded away into the fog.

Faint breathing could be heard from the desecrated field it came from the center of the corpse ridden field. Zi Xiang was still alive. As he slowly raised his head he saw the gore covering the area, a deep disgust welled up in his stomach, as it pressed down on him Zi Xiang felt the urge to vomit. Zi Xiang began to cough as the urge to vomit forced down his throat. Though his stomach was contracting to push out the contents of his insides there was nothing to vomit, Zi Xiang hadn't eaten for days.

All that happened was Zi Xiang continued to cough as saliva was forced from his throat with small bits of blood mixed in, from what exactly Zi Xiang wasn't sure. His eyes were blurry as tears were flowing down his face. Although just the sight was enough to make Zi Xiang sick the smell was even worse it smelled like raw meat which was losing its freshness diluted into the moist foggy air.

*Ooouggh oough

Zi Xiang made the motions of vomiting as his stomach pushed up trying to rid itself of its own nonexistent contents.

After awhile Zi Xiang was able to stand up his vision flashed black as he felt woozy and nauseous as the blood flowed to his head the smell only made the feeling worse. Zi Xiang felt like he was going to fall to the ground.

Taking a deep breath Zi Xiang dispelled the disorientation as he got a proper look of the area, there were around 17 wolf corpses though it was difficult to make exactly how many there were. Each wolf was a massive 6 or 9 feet in length much larger than Zi Xiang or any wolf he had seen or heard of before, ordinary wolves although large was only around 5 or 6 feet the size difference was quite jarring to see most of the wolves were even larger than lions or around the same size as tigers. Though some of their other features were quite striking as well their fur was black or dark grey although not uncommon in normal wolves it seemed strange to Zi Xiang, their teeth and faces were also quite interesting as they were less wide and much thinner, their teeth were unusually jagged and shone with a vicious glimmer. Looking over the wolves it was really very clear they weren't normal wolves. Looking around Zi Xiang just felt strange, it was like a mixture of personal loss, confusion, and displacement. It was clear Zi Xiang wasn't on Earth or at least not in a normal place.

Though everything just felt fake, even looking at his torn clothes Zi Xiang felt confused, he had always fantasized about going to another world of magic, cultivation, science fiction, or even superpowers but, at this moment it all felt wrong. Although there was some personal reluctance even in the face of death, he just wanted to go home he would be willing to give up this strange world to go home even though he was in a new world where he could likely fulfill his desires and fantasies, even though this was what he always wanted.
