Death's Embrace

It was the day after the threat of a deadly virus was finally solved wherein a vaccine was created to protect the people from it's deadly symptoms. As one of the few cadet pilots left after the pandemic, I was called upon as soon as it ended to pilot my aircraft to assist with the distribution of the vaccine throughout the world.

"Ha... I thought I could get bit more sleep."

I grumbled as I looked at my alarm which was buzzing non-stop.

"Well, I guess I should look forward to doing some actual work after those few months of self-quarantine and doing nothing."

With those thoughts in my head, I got up from my bed and freshened up, then wore my uniform as a cadet pilot. It was 4:00 AM in the morning at the time so my family was still asleep. I didn't want to wake them up as the pandemic really put a toll on their mental health. So, I just decided to leave a note for them and went on my way to the airport.

I stood there on the side of the road, signaling for a Taxi to take me to my destination. After a few minutes of waiting, I finally got into a taxi and was headed towards the airport.

Then, time suddenly slowed down for me. I was getting goosebumps all over my body as fear and dread took over my senses. The sound of the taxi's horn was screeching throughout my ears as I found myself looking out of the window of the vehicle. It seemed like the world was spinning around as a plethora of colors were mixing from my vision of the outside of the car. It was then I realized that the taxi was rolling across the road. As the rolling finally came to a stop, I was relieved as I thought that I survived this scary ordeal. However, life had other plans in store for me. I suddenly felt immense pain in my stomach. I looked down and found that part of the car was impaling that section of my body.

"Fuck, is this how I'm gonna die?"

My life flashed before my eyes as I was losing the feel of my body. An odd sense of calm came over me as I realized that my death was inevitable. Then, as if to evaluate give an evaluation of how I lived my life, I smiled wryly as I knew I was capable of more achievements but was too lazy to actually go through with the commitment and challenges that came before those achievements. However, I was more or less content with my life. I didn't need to worry about my parents because I knew that my two smart sisters would be able to take care of them. And, I was single and had few but close friends meaning that I didn't really need to worry about them either as I knew that they would be able to take care of themselves.

"I should have tried harder to grind for that Warden outfit that I wanted to get before."

I had a love/hate relationship with a game called For Honor but something about the Warden really caught my eye and made me keep playing the game. I wanted him to look and be badass while slaying the other players in the game. As I wasn't able to fully complete that 'badass' look, I sighed in regret.

"Hahaha... Maybe, I could reincarnate into another world and live my childhood dream of becoming

a strong and powerful being in a fantasy world. That would truly be a dream come true..."

I laughed whilst remembering all those stories about reincarnation, transmigration, or whatever we call those tropes at the time. Then, I breathed my last as everything in my mind went dark.
