The Udaeus

After the three of us finally got into the throne room where Udeaus was was to spawn, we paused for a moment near the entrance of the very large room. Then, Ais turned to look towards me and Riveria and gave us a nod, symbolizing that she was ready to fight. While Riveria was teaching me about the dungeon and all that, she also told me of the purpose of why the two of them came down here in the first place.

'Ais wanted to pressure herself to allow her to breakthrough to the 6th level...'

After she nodded to us, she looked forwards once more and went deeper into the room. Finally, after reaching a certain point, the ground rumbled as a huge black skeleton with eerie red glowing eyes burst out of the ground. What was peculiar about this skeleton however was that it had no lower body and its mobility seemed to be limited to where it popped out from. After the monster and Ais both stared at each other for a bit, the Udaeus suddenly lifted one of its arms as its fist glowed with a purple hue and pummeled it towards the ground where Ais was.

'... Strangely enough, it seems that the Black Goliath is basically on par to the Udaeus when it comes to the threat I feel from both of them... I wonder what an abnormal Udaeus would be like then?'

Thinking of a way to somehow compare them, I turned towards Riveria and asked her a question.

"Riveria, how are the powers of the Monster Rexes scaled?"

"Same as with all the other monsters in the dungeon, Reza. The lower the level, the stronger the Monster Rex. However, they all have their quirks which make them harder or easier to face when comparing them to each other."

Riveria spoke as she looked onto the battle of Ais and Udaeus. Although she seemed really calm and nonchalant as she looked on, in reality, I could see that she was kind of nervous and as she was gripping her staff a lot harder then usual and looked onto the battle to see if that Ais life was really in danger, she would assist. Seeing this, I gave out a small smile.

'Ais really is loved and cared for by Riveria like a daughter...'

Shaking that thought off, I didn't worry much about the battle as although I don't remember seeing the battle between Ais and the Udaeus, I do know that she became a level 6 later on so I was sure she wasn't in any real danger.

'Speaking of levels... System, display UI.'

Seeing my progression, I wryly smiled.

'Really? After that abnormal Goliath, Juggernaut, and a few other monsters in the 37th level, I still haven't maxed out all my stats except Endurance? Even my experience bar isn't maxed out yet... And only a few of my skills ranked up as well... I really need to devour the souls of more powerful beings...'

All of a sudden, I was brought out of my thoughts as the Udaeus suddenly brought out a black sword which seemed to be made of the same material as itself and swung it fiercely toward the ground which caused Ais to jump really high for her to be able to dodge it. As the sword struck the ground, a large amount of the ground struck in front of it broke apart as dust clouds flew upwards from the damage..

'Whew, the power of that thing is quite amazing... Wait, won't it's act of destroying the dungeon floor spawn a juggernaut?'

As that thought came by, I shuddered at the thought of a juggernaut being spawned at the 37th level. As to soothe my suspicions and worries, I decided to ask Riveria aboutt it.

"Uh, Riveria, won't the Udaeus spawn a Juggernaut if it continues destroying the dungeon?"

Hearing my question, Riveria surprisingly wasn't able to answer immediately. She put her hand on her chin and looked away from the battle for a bit as if to try and find an answer for my question. After a moment, she put down her hand and looked back towards the battle as she spoke.

"Hm... Although I'm not sure of the actual reason, perhaps it is because the Udaeus was spawned from the dungeon, therefore making it's destructive actions towards the dungeon not warrant any attention from it. However, us being outsiders and all, as soon as we damage the dungeon excessively, a juggernaut will spawn."

"Oh, okay."

Hearing that we wouldn't need to worry about a Juggernaut, I loosened up as I looked back towards the battle between Ais and the Udaeus. As she ran towards it, a large amount of black spikes came out of the ground to try and pierce her as she was heading towards the large skeleton. She dodged ever black spike along the way and finally comes into close proximity with the beast as it swung it's large sword towards Ais. At first, I thought she would dodge it but seemingly enough, at that moment, something seemed to change as her eyes widened as she swung her sword towards the Udaeus' sword. Then, subverting my epecations of what was about to happen even more, she broke the sword of the Udaeus and lunged towards it. Both me and Riveria looked on with amazement as she struck out towards the head of the Udaeus as she roared.

"Lil... Rafaga!"

Striking the skull of the Udaeus, its skull was obliterated as it's body fell to the ground after losing its head. Then, Ais finally struck the Udaeus' monster core and finished it off, casuing a large amount of the energy of the monster's core to be released into the air like a mist as the black skeleton slowly disintegrated, causing the scene of Ais in the middle of all the mist-like energy to look ethereal and timeless.

"Truly amazing..."

"Indeed..."

After we gave our remarks about the amazing end of Ais battle, we walked towards her and congratulated her for her efforts.
