Observation Log

After a full minute of ransacking his guitar case, a.k.a. keeping his emotions in check, Granger finally brought out a folder with a violet print of "CONFIDENTIAL" on the cover and laid it in front of the girl with the purple bow.

Guinevere had just finished gobbling up two unicorn cream puffs. She became hungry after guessing the objects Granger touches due to the sounds it made. For example, the soft rustling of a clothe was the scarf she gave him or the small clinking sounds were his bullets. After wiping the rainbow cream off her fingers with a tissue, Guinevere scanned the documents inside the folder.

Today's already the fifth day of their experiment. Guinevere looked around to see if anyone was near them. But the study area was almost empty, except for the two of them and a couple of young scholars working on their thesis ten tables away from them.

"Okay. So, since we still have half an hour before the end of the third test, let's do a recap of what we've done so far!" Guinevere clapped her hands and still huddled closer to make sure no one could hear them. It was after all a secret only three people know: Granger, Guinevere and Doctor Estes, who verified the authenticity of her healing power.

Granger just nodded along as the red head recited the contents of their daily observation log. On the first few pages, Guinevere's cursive handwriting were sprawled all over the paper.

Day 1.

Today, I, Guinevere Baroque, discovered a healing power that only applies to one person, Granger, who was cursed by an ancient demon when he was a young boy.

I'm writing this in order to observe the said power and how it influences the cursed scar. And possibly learn why I possess such power.

Progress:

-Touching (the test subject's) Granger's skin provides fast relief to any physical pain except wounds. NOTE: follow up the cool down time.

-A small cut on (the test subject's) Granger's cheek was IMMEDIATELY healed when the scar was touched.

Day 2.

Today, just before lunch, at exactly 11:11, Granger's headaches resurfaced. We also filed an appointment with Dr. Estes who also knows about Granger's curse and had been treating him since he became a Demon Hunter at the Monastery of Light.

Progress:

-Just ONE touch to the scar, (the test subject's) Granger's headaches vanished. It took only a second! (Time has been noted this time). NOTE: follow up test if the effect is 24-hours.

-Dr. Estes scanned (the test subject's) Granger's and confirmed that the anomalies on Granger's head were no longer there.

-He then disclosed (the test subject's) Granger's health history to compare the results.

-Healing powers = 100% PROVEN REAL!!

Guinevere initially thought that Granger would be a messy writer so she put many blank pages, but as the famous saying go, don't judge the book by its cover.

He had a perfectly neat and concise handwriting which put hers look more like squiggly form of letters! It was especially so when Granger crossed out the mentions of "the test subject" and replaced it with his name above it. Ever since that day, she practiced making her handwriting look more prettier than Granger's .... but to no avail. You can no longer teach an old dog new tricks. So Guinevere gave up on her petty ambition.

As for Granger, he severely scolded the geeky Guinevere for joking around like that, treating him like a lab rat. But the red head just giggled and later on apologized by gifting him a red scarf she personally knitted. It even had black musical notes patterns. Needless to say, he wasn't angry anymore. What an easily pleased fellow.

"Seriously, Grangey. I'd like to see you make calligraphy arts." Guinevere looked up from the documents and squinted at the guy in front of her, eyes full of envy. How can a person be perfect in every way?

"Sure. I'll even send you hand written letters if you'd like, Guini." Granger chuckled lightly.

"Yay, thanks! Okay, so onto the next day..." Guinevere drank a bit of tea before continuing.

Granger reminisced what happened on the third day of research, a memorable day for him even though it was a pain to take off his long ass tight gloves from time to time. They got weird looks from their teammates when they were seen holding each other's hands during hiding in the tall bushes or whenever only the two of them would go off lane to farm. Even if was just for a little while, Granger thought that her hands were made to fit his.

The red head didn't notice the weird looks as she was focused on watching and recording the time on her pocket watch. But as for Granger, he just glared at the unwanted onlookers for ogling at them. He thanked the System for making him use his new battle armor, the Biosoldier skin, or else his teammates, especially Fanny, would tease him to death for blushing like a little schoolboy.

Then in the next following pages, Granger's handwriting occupied most of the spaces as he was assigned to do some self observation. The reason was because Guinevere wasn't always with him due to their conflicting schedules for rank matches. But at the end of the paper, Guinevere just added her progress report. She usually do this when they're at the library.

Day 3.

Test Subject's Name: Granger

Birthday: April 23

Age: 22

Sex: Male

Observation:

-No headaches until 12 noon.

-No nightmares the past night.

-I feel a cool sensation whenever Guini touches me.

-Scar changes color from bright red to maroon once touched by Guini.

Progress:

-24-hours time limit of healing= CONFIRMED!

-Physical pain except open wounds gets healed up after touching for 60 seconds (Number of tests done: 6, during rank matches).

-We found out that there is a color indicator if healing is taking place. Bright Red=Curse is on. Maroon=Curse is off (24-hours healing takes place).

-We decided to examine the result of touching the scar twice today to see if the healing hours doubled as well. Time of 2nd scar touching: 5 pm

-Dr. Estes reported no anomalies as well today.

-NOTE: Skinship is not allowed until the end of the test. Clothes hinder the effect of healing.

Then on the next pages, Guinevere ran out of things to ask for Test Subject Info, so she just added random questions she still doesn't know about Granger.

She honestly expected Granger to leave it blank but he earnestly answered each one of them. He didn't even question her for the strange, slum book like questions.

She made sure to listen to the music he mentioned and it helped her fall asleep. Except for the last one, she almost gasped for air from laughing too much because it reminded her of her nightly escapades to the kitchens for a midnight snack.

"Woah! You're an instructor at the Temple of Light?!" Guinevere couldn't hide her excitement. She even paused from writing the progress report just to ask that.

"Yeah. But I'm not a full-time instructor. I just usually cover for Miya since she's always out on a mission." Granger shrugged. "And we only have two new marksmen for now so we only meet during weekends."

"How about Mister Alucard??" Guinevere couldn't stop her fangirling self from asking. So the AU comic was really based in real life events!

"He's an instructor at the Assassin Department and teaches advanced swordsmanship. Why'd you ask?" Granger eyed the red head.

He just noticed that Guinevere would often ask him about Alutard-- No, it's Aluturd now, he angrily thought. Which kind of irritated him for no reason.

"A-Ah. Just curious..." Guinevere furtively answered. Her and her fangirl mouth!

"Oh! Look at the time! Three minutes 'til 5pm! Immediately notify me if your head starts to hurt, okay?" Guinevere hastily changed the subject.

"Hmm. Alright. But you've been acting strange lately. You sure, you're okay?" Granger finally questioned her suspicious actions since she came back from her little trip to pick up medical books.

"H-Hehe. Of course! I'm good, I'm good. Here. Finish your doughnut!" Guinevere hurriedly stuffed a pastry on Granger's mouth.

But because she was panicking, her thumb also went inside his mouth. Granger almost choked at the sudden entrance of the food and not to mention the surprising warmth of Guinevere's thumb on his lips.

Guinevere speedily pulled her hand away as if scalded, knocking the piles of books beside them. She touched him! And on his lips at that!

'The test!! What would happen to the results?! Should we redo the test?? But it was only one or two seconds! Argh! Guinevere Baroque you're a disgrace to you former Top Student self!' Guinevere's mind went haywire.

Granger swallowed the doughnut and coughed. The panic-stricken girl helped him pat his back.

"I-I'm sorry, Grangey! I-I'll go get you some water. I'll be right back!" Guinevere immediately bolted from her seat to get some bottled water.

As she headed to the vending machine just outside the library, Granger picked up the fallen books while touching part of his lips where Guinevere's thumb was earlier. He felt blood rushing up to his face. And a smile was threatening to break out from his lips. Granger ruffled his tousled hair to clear up his mind.

"I'm Guini's friend. Just a friend." He chanted over and over.

Guinevere doesn't know the powerful effect she has on the poor Death Chanter. While picking up the Demonology book, a slip of ripped paper was sticking out from the animal skin book cover.

"Huh?" He read the contents of the small piece of paper and his eyes widened. Then suddenly, without warning, the familiar pain in his head came back. He had to find Guinevere who was suspiciously late!

Meanwhile...

Guinevere banged her head on the wall next to the vending machine. She forgot to bring coins!

"Ugh. I'm so stupid! I can't go back now. I'm too embarrassed to face him!" Guinevere wailed to herself and stomped her feet out of frustration.

"Guin?" A familiar voice sounded behind her.

"Huh?" Guinevere whirled around to meet the person who dared interrupt her self-pitying session.

"Thank gods I found you, Guin!" The familiar brown haired man exclaimed and engulfed her into a hug. He's still had the same boyish charms.

"E-Eh? W-Wait!"

"I terribly missed you Guin-Guin! And right now, all I need is you!"
