CHAPTER 49

Yan looked at these lowlifes with disgust and decided that he would torture them. He secretly pulled out the time stone and activated it. A invisible layer of green energy which only Yan could see surrounded the mercenaries.

He then increased the spiritual pressure around them. 'GYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA' they all screamed like pigs as their body started to convulse with pain. Blood started to pour out of their eyes, nose and ears. And suddenly there came multiple cracking sound and their body was turned into mush blood splattering everywhere. But at this moment something happened. The mercenaries who were crushed to death were back to full health.

"W..what is going on??!!" Black demon said with bewilderment. At one moment he was crushed to death and now he was alright. what was going on?!

But at this moment, the same crushing pressure engulfed them and they all screamed with pain. The same thing again happened as their bodies were crushed and turned into mush but again they were restored.

Yan had put these people in a time loop where they would feel the same pain again and again.

Blood curdling screams were heard through out the village as the same scene happened again and again for an hour. The people of the village who were looking out of their windows quickly hid again with fear when they saw the terrifying scene of people being crushed to death by an invisible force.

After a few hours Yan felt that it was enough so he stopped the time stone and burned the corpses with his fire.

"You can come out now!" Yan said as he got up from his throne. The throne disappeared into a black mass. The villagers started pouring our of their houses and surrounded Yan. They bowed in front of him to show their gratitude.

Making his way through the crowd of people was Feng Baichuan who was making his way to Yan.

"Thank you!!! Thank you so much my Lord!!! How can we ever repay you for this favor. Please let this lowly one to bring you to the Phoenix Trial Grounds. That is the least I could for you." Feng Baichuan said bowing to Yan with tears in his eyes. Looking at him one could say that he was filled with gratitude that no words could describe.

"Alright let's get to that trial ground " Yan motioned Feng Baichuan. Seeing Yan motioning him to move , he quickly nodded his head and started to walk, Yan slowly walking behind him.

Following after Feng Baichuan, Yan found himself in a valley facing a giant Boulder with a small Phoenix symbol on it. Feng Baichuan took out a small knife and cut his finger with drawing blood which he smeared it on the Phoenix symbol. After which the bolder rolled out of the way showing a massive hall in the mountain and behind it a dark hallway.

*DING* [ Incoming mission: Take the Phoenix Trial and succeed perfectly and obtain three drops of Phoenix blood.

Reward for completion: 100000 CP, Golden ticket for summoning characters, equipments, weapons or armor

Looking at this he smirked and was going to close the system when he heard the sound again.

Seeing this Yan was astonished. It's the first time he got quests from the system and one of them was an essential one too.

He saw that he could start the essential quest in 15 days so he ignored that. He pressed no. He currently didn't want to go to the different world.

"Alright, here we are. Just go in and go to the dark hallway in the back and you will eventually walk into the Phoenix Trial Ground. From this point in its all on you. I wish you all the best my lord. I hope that you successfully pass the trials." Feng Baichuan said as he was about to walk away when Yan asked him another question.

"Hey can you tell me what the Phoenix trial entails??"

"Sorry your majesty, I can't help you with that. Those who have gone through the Phoenix trial can't speak about its content. This way those who take on the trial cannot have any knowledge before the trial." Feng Baichuan truthfully said.

"Well whatever. I will see you people when I get out from there. Goodbye" Yan said he left Feng Baichuan but he waved his hand.

"Best of luck my Lord and I will wait for you in the village." Feng Baichuan said as he waved at Yan and walked back to the village.

After walking into the trail grounds, the bullet rolls back blocking the entrance to the trial ground. After walking into the hallways at the end hall the light dies down until nothing but complete darkness remains.

'The spirit of the Phoenix should appear shortly if I am correct'. Yan thought to himself and right there in the darkness, two horizontal golden lines appeared that soon became two giant golden eyes in the darkness.

The eyes looked looked at Yan with curiosity as if it has sensed something from Yan. It's eyes widened.

"This extraordinary power and might!!! You..... you are a dragon!!!! How come there is a dragon of your calibre on this planet?!!" A voice said incredulously in his mind.

Listening to this Yan smirked and said," Why don't we discuss about me after we complete the the trail. And I guess you are the spirit of the Phoenix huh?".

"That's correct. I am an immortal soul left here by the Phoenix. Yet I am also an existence independent off the Phoenix. I preserve this trial ground and receive all the challengers. Spirit of the Phoenix, is the most fitting title for me." The Phoenix said proudly.

" OK " Yan said nonchalantly.

The eyes stared at Yan for a few moments after which the voice said," Very well. Welcome to the trial grounds. You are the first challenger without the Phoenix bloodline in these thousand years." Said the voice in his mind.

"Well then I am here to officially take the challenge of the Phoenix trial."

"Very well, are you ready?" The Phoenix spirit asked.

Yan looked at the blazing eyes of the Phoenix and a small smile crept up his face.

"Yeah I am ready."

"Before I explain to you what the trail entails, I would like to thank you for saving the people of the village. Though their ancestor had committed a grave sin all those years ago and I cursed him and his descendants, it has been looking enough for them to live with this curse. You are first one in a thousand years to have taken this challenge without being in possession of the Phoenix bloodline although you are a true dragon which intrigues me very much. I truly hope that you can pass this trial " said the Phoenix solemnly.

Yan only nodded his head at this as he liked at the Phoenix spirit seriously.
