How dare he...

"Hmm? What?" Watching him just stared at her without a word, Zoey smiled as she raised her brows up. Unbeknownst to her, Matthew Xi's subconscious mind was having a silent mental breakdown, and he was trying to calm it down.

"You..." After a minute, Matthew Xi muttered.

"Hmm?" Blinking her eyes many times, Zoey tilted her head to the side as she waited for his next words... or question.

"When is the second and third date?"

"Ah?" Surprised at his sudden question, Zoey rubbed her chin as she pondered. She knew that he would ask her this, but not this soon. Honestly, she has no particular date or event in mind just yet. Hence, she contemplated of a good excuse or how to divert his attention.

"Darling, do you want to get rid of me that much? We haven't even used our first date yet." Within a few seconds, Zoey raised her eyes again and pouted.

"I just want to make sure you're not setting it up months or years apart." Blunt as ever, Matthew Xi purposely relayed his message to let her know he wasn't fine with it — if ever she planned to.

Zoey wasn't particularly pleased at what he said. However, she wasn't displeased either. If anything, she understood where he was coming. After all, she didn't expect him to like her this soon.

Even Zoey wasn't certain of the feelings she bore for him. Her feeling wasn't that deep too, and she just likes him — that's it. Also, Zoey preferred him just the way it was now.

"You know my darling dear, the more a person resist, the more impact it'll cause them when things changed." Shrugging her shoulders, Zoey resumed on spooning a bit of porridge and gave him a piece of her mind.

"Change is constant. People are used to it." Matthew Xi didn't need a lot of thinking to understand the meaning behind her words. He was certain that after dating her, Matthew Xi could get used to his old life without her.

A life without Zoey in the picture. Yes, those peaceful days where he didn't have to be stressed out by tens of times missed calls and startling love advances.

Upon hearing his response, Zoey glanced at him, and the side of her lips curled up. "I like you even more now." Not restraining herself from speaking her mind, Zoey grinned as their eyes met.

"Just eat." Used at the words one should say with a hundred percent sincerity, Matthew Xi shook his head. He then shifted his attention to the stacks of documents she placed on the bed side table.

"Aren't you sick? Why are you still working?" Out of curiosity, Matthew Xi asked. Of course, he knew it wasn't work related, and she was pretending to be sick.

However, it was also his creative way of asking what were those for so the talk about the Sun Corporation would proceed.

"I am not." After gulping a spoonful of porridge, Zoey served herself another spoon as she answered. "Those were some lawsuits documents against me and the man in the mall — remember that guy?" Zoey didn't have a plan to hide things from him. After all, it was already settled and things had turned in her advantage.

Little did she know, she must thank the guy sitting near her for helping her behind the scene. Regardless, Matthew Xi didn't mind hiding these things from her. Who knows what she'll do if she knew about it.

"What about him?" Feigning innocent, Matthew Xi probed.

"He filed a complaint against me, obviously. So, I'm supposed to do the same to him — a counter sue." Giving him the summarization of what happened, Zoey stated. "Good thing I am alert and got myself admitted in the hospital or you'll probably visit me in the precinct not here." She added nonchalantly.

"In... where?" Upon hearing the word precinct, Matthew Xi knitted his brows. Why would she get arrested without a warrant? 'How dare he...' He grumbled inwardly. Even Matthew Xi who had all the power rarely took advantage of his connections to the government. Hence, what right has that Richard Sun attempted to touch what's his again.

"Why do you think I am here? Don't worry about it — that mama's boy want a settlement agreement, hah!" Seeing the seemingly 'concerned' glint that flickered across his eyes, Zoey smiled and reassured with a mocking chuckle.

"Apparently, that guy I am telling you about is closing a billion yuan project. He doesn't want unnecessary trouble, so you get my point?" Since Matthew Xi remained silent, Zoey informed him the reason.

"I see..." Nodding in understanding, Matthew Xi examined Zoey as he calmed his irked inner self. He wasn't surprised of Richard Sun's action because Matthew Xi expected him that he'll take the wise route. The reason he was doing business with the Sun Corportion.

However, as he stared at Zoey and how she truly looked like a patient, his right brow arched. "How did you manage to get admitted by faking your sickness?"

Considering this hospital was a trusted health care facility, it intrigued Matthew Xi by how Zoey pulled some strings. After all, Matthew Xi heard that the Kwan Family were righteous and dignified people. Especially the heir of the Kwan's, Zion Kwan. Therefore, how could this matter slide if Zoey didn't know someone with influence?
