A FRIEND

I was sick yesterday so I wasn't able to update any chapter. Today, I will give an extra chapter to compensate the loss of yesterday. I can only do 3 chapters today since I am still recovering.

ENJOY!

"Hey Ivan. I left your food for breakfast on the smaller fridge. Just heat it up tomorrow. I've got to go." she was in a hurry and was strapping her sandals when she gave him the reminder.

"I heard you. Be careful on the road." Ivan responded to her who was on his room arranging his clothes from the laundry.

When Ivan heard the doorlock clicked, he heaved a sigh of relief. He needed to finish his technical report for an app tonight so he could present it to his friend tomorrow, but he didn't like her finding out his work so he waited for her to leave.

He set his clothes on the sofa near the window, fished out his laptop from his bedside drawer and started working again. He chatted his friend about his progress and continued working.

It's been a month since Ivan arrived to Kaye's apartment and has been living in harmonious atmosphere. Kaye would cook for both of them including Ivan's breakfast for the next day. She left a sticky button on the microwave functions as well to let him know which to press to heat his meal. Ivan would always clean the dishes after.

"Kaye, will you be going again to the orphanage tomorrow?" Jestoni asked her when they were preparing for their training class.

"Yes, of course. I've bought their toys the other day already and tomorrow, I will bake something for them." she was shaking Jestonis hands while talking. "I am so excited already. I wonder what will their presentation be. Would you like to come?" she was nodding her head to persuade him, but Jestoni declined her.

"Miss Pretty Kaye, I have a date tomorrow. I can't postpone it. You know we've been busy and I need to spend time with my boyfriend as well." Kaye rolled her eyes upon hearing her friend talk about his date.

"Fine. Fine. I understand. That doesn't matter. Enjoy your date instead." she retorted before finishing their preparation. She went to her table and sat before turning on her computers.

It was four in the morning already when Ivan finished testing and documenting his technical report. He massaged his temples, turned off his laptop and went out to the kitchen to get a glass of water.

'Ding!' he heard it coming from his phone indication of a messaged received. He opened it which reads from Alex and it was about their meet up tomorrow at nine in the morning. Ivan drank the glass of water and went back to his room after.

When Ivan woke up, it was already eight in the morning. He called his driver and asked to come and pick him up after half an hour. He brushed his teeth, took a quick shower and change his clothes. He put the laptop inside his bag, grabbed his phone and keys before leaving.

Around quarter past nine, Ivan arrived to their mansion. It was convenient for him to discuss matters with his friend, Alex, on their house instead of the apartment.

"Hi bro! You're looking good." Alex greeted sitting on the couch when Ivan arrived. They've been friends since highschool when Ivan moved to a school where Alex studied. Ivan was a very cold person back then. He didn't like talking to anyone and would prefer to do activities alone. One time, their teacher wanted them to make a program or a website for their computer project. Both were good in computer technology so when they saw each other's work, Alex was the first to acknowledge him before Ivan gave him a brief smile; the first smile after four months of being classmates.

"I'm always looking good." Ivan responded with a smirk on his face.

"This bastard is getting more presumptuous each day. Why did I become your friends again?" Alex exclaimed, looking at his friend's expression for any changes.

"You liked me so much that you can't get over with my existence. So you befriended me." Ivan shrugged his shoulder as if being friend with him was natural due to his looks.

"Geez. Stop it. Even if I'm a woman, I wouldn't want a cold man like you."

"How am I cold? Am I not treating you better?" he walked directly toward the stairs while Alex followed suit three steps behind him.

"Anyway, let's talk about serious business. Our time is limited." Alex changed the topic to stop his track from getting into the wrong direction of their conversation.

"Come in first." Ivan gestured his hand for Alex to come inside his room. Inside his room is a mini studyroom with all computers hanging on the wall and some were just neatly placed on the table. He waited for the maid to settle their snacks before closing the door.

"Everytime I see your own space, I would always feel that my intelligence is not even twenty percent of what you have." commented Alex as he sat down on a couch available in the room.

"You just found out that?" he was looking down at him since Alex was sitting and he was standing. Eyebrows were raised and his straight faced looked condescending before he added, "Our intelligence differs from one another. You are good at something that I'm not. How else did we manage everything 'til now. I couldn't do it alone, you know. Don't belittle yourself."

"Did I hear it correctly? You were praising me right?" Alex was so happy hearing those words from his friend. Ivan don't give praise to anyone, he would point out mistake after mistake instead.

"I didn't praise you." Ivan denied before turning on a his computers so they can start their discussion.

"If I didn't listen to your words, by just looking at your straight face, I would think you were cursing me. You're indeed my friend." Alex continued his blabber while watching him maneuvering his computers. Much as he want to help, Ivan doesn't like anyone touching his beloved computers, not even his family.

After booting up all the computers, he entered his security codes and passwords to get into his desktop. Once everything was set up correctly, he turned to his friend and said, "We can start now. Let me know what you have and I'll discuss to you my technical report."
