"Kaye are you busy?" Ivan came knocking at her open door which she left open to see him walking or working outside.
"I'm looking for something. Do you need anything?" she asked with just a glance and continued looking for the dress she wanted.
"I'd like to go somewhere important. Can you come with me?" Ivan told her with a little hesitation. He was leaning on the doorframe waiting for her answer.
"As in now or later?" she was opening and closing her closet door trying to find something in it.
"Two hours from now." Ivan answered her with that expressionless face. In truth, he's nervous she'd reject him.
"Will you be done before five in the afternoon? I need to go somewhere at five." she expressed her agreement as long as it's not beyond the time she had to leave. "Found you." she raised the blue dress she got from Zara and the turtleneck sweater she got from Chanel.
"We'll be done before five." Ivan told her. He could actually have Alex pick him up, but he wanted to show her his world, thus asking her to go with him.
"Sweet. That's great. Let me get a quick change."
"Thanks." Then Ivan left her room, closing the door behind him.
Kaye changed her clothes to her blue Maxi Long Skirt and white knitted long sleeve shirt with high neckline. She paired it with a blue-laced Chanel sandals and her white spring edition Chanel sling bag.
After all the preparations, Kaye put the two clothes earlier inside a Chanel paper bag before stepping out of her room.
"Let's book a taxi." she told Ivan who was currently fixing his tie in the living room. "Let me." she took the tie and fixed it for him in less than five minutes.
"I called the guard downstairs to call a taxi. It should be there waiting for us already." he answered her while closing the lock of his Audemars Piguet watch. Trying to divert his beating heart to something else.
"You're going to use that coat?" she asked him looking at the dark color of the coat. 'He always wear black and white kind of clothes, though it's making him handsome, it is boring.' she added internally, not wanting to hurt his feelings.
"Is there a problem? How about you take a look in my closet and see if there's something much better than this?" Ivan offered her which Kaye agreed.
"You should give this a try." she took a blue suit from Zegna and handed it to him. "This one is better. It's giving life to your poker face." she told him with all honesty which Ivan gave a faint smile in return.
"Alright. Can you choose my outfit next time if ever I'd have to go somewhere important?" Ivan asked her not really expecting her to agree, but her response earned a wide smile from him.
"Sure. Just let me know ahead of time." Kaye agreed oblivious to the web he's weaving. Without Ivan knowing, she's taking every opportunity given to her. Both were taking advantage of each other, but no one spoke how they feel.
Kaye checked the appliances to make sure everything's fine before finally closing the door. When they walked outside the complex, the guard told them where the taxi is currently parked. Kaye saw it and walked slowly with Ivan towards the cab.
Ivan gave the address to the driver as he settled himself beside Kaye. "I'm curious." Kaye turned to face him before she continued. "This place that we're going to, is this where you work?"
"Yes. There is an emergency meeting today and I have to be there." he informed her without much details.
"I see. It's good to hear that you can still work despite what happened to you. You're really capable." she didn't bother hiding her admiration.
"I have to or else my wife won't have money to spend." it was half meant half joke but to Kaye it stabbed her heart knowing how much effort Ivan put into his work for that woman. She didn't know that the "wife" that Ivan meant was her.
"Yeah. You have to." she forced herself to laugh at his statement even though it hurts her.
Kaye stopped talking to avoid digging her own grave. She didn't want Ivan to speak anything related to that woman. She wanted to be selfish for now. Ivan didn't disturb her as well, silently listening to hear breathing.
When they arrived at the small building, Kaye was astonished with the design. Compared to other building around the area, it was relatively small but it has complete facilities.
"Good morning, sir. Good morning, ma'am." the guard greeted them politely as they walked inside the building. She just gave him a smile in return.
"Am I allowed to come here? I'm not an employee here after all." Kaye expressed her doubt to Ivan.
"It's fine. Don't worry." Ivan told her with a faint smile, still walking towards the elevator. As they passed by, people stared at them weirdly with fear crossing their faces.
"The people here are weird." she whispered to him while looking around.
"Are they?" Ivan asked her nonchalantly. Though he knew why.
"Maybe it's just my imagination." Kaye said laughing at her own idea before stopping in front of the elevator. "Which floor?" she asked.
"Tenth." Ivan responded devoid of emotion.
Kaye leaned towards him and whispered, "You're wearing a poker face again." 'Or you can continue that, then just smile at home for me.' she added mentally, making her heart skip a beat with her own childish thoughts.
Ivan didn't bother changing his expression in front of other people, but when they were alone inside the elevator he smiled at her.
Kaye stiffened in her place. Her breathing hitched and heart was beating faster and faster. 'Save me from this man! He is unfair. How could he show that 100 megawatt smile at me!'
"Stop smiling at me you idiot!" Kaye glared at him but Ivan continued to smile instead, annoying her purposely.
