THIS MUST BE DESTINY

Kaye had been busy these past few days with company matters. Her plans with Jestoni had been put off a few times already.

Today, she made sure to take some time so she could meet her friend. A few months had passed since the last time she saw him. It's also a special day because Jestoni would introduce his boyfriend to her. Finally, the time was ripe.

Kaye put on her clothes. She chose a baby pink turtleneck blouse and dark blue skinny jeans. She paired it with her beige slipper sandals and a pink sling bag. She looked so lovely and young despite her age of twenty-six.

She didn't put on any make up aside from the moisturizer and lip balm. Gathering all her things, Kaye put them in her bag and left the house to meet up with her friend.

It was almost 7:30 in the evening when Jestoni arrived at the meeting place. He scanned the room and found two men sitting by the window. Their faces were of high value and people kept looking at them specially the women in the room. One was wearing a white shirt brimming with smile while the other was wearing black, a frown on his face.

Jestoni schooled his face and approached them. When the man with a white shirt saw him, his smile became more radiant. Jestoni smiled at him as well.

"I'm glad you've found time to meet my friend. She's been expecting to see you to make her judgement." Jestoni sat beside the man who was wearing a white shirt.

Kaye walked as quick as she can towards the meet up place. It's a high class restaurant that rich people frequent to. She didn't really like to go there but Jestoni insisted. So, here she is looking so nervous and flustered. 'A place like this makes me feel alone.' Kaye thought as she gave the restaurant another round of stare and glare.

The waiter bowed at her when she looked at him. "A reserved table for Jestoni." Kaye told him and the man guide him to where they are.

"They changed the reservation to a private booth ma'am. Please follow me." Kaye just gave a simple nod and followed the waiter silently.

She heard laughters inside the room and the voice was so familiar but she couldn't point out to whom it belongs.

The waiter stopped in front of the door and knocked on it. When the people inside gave him an answer, he opened the door for her.

Kaye gave her thanks and walked inside. She didn't know why but she's getting more and more nervous each time she took a step.

When Kaye got inside, the room was silent and all three pairs of eyes were staring at her. She stared back at them and the color on her face was drained.

"This..." Kaye was speechless.

"Come on pretty Kaye. You're late. Come and sit already." Jestoni urged her when she remain standing at the door. The waiter had long closed the door for her.

Kaye looked at them once again. On the round table, Jestoni was sitting beside Alex who was wearing a white shirt looking fresh and harmless. In front of them was none other than Ivan who looked surprise to see her. Same goes for her.

"This is really surprising! Who would've thought we'd meet again here." Alex exclaimed upon seeing her. Kaye walked towards the table and sat beside Ivan. She even pulled the chair a little farther from him but Ivan pulled her back closer to him.

Jestoni just looked at Alex who gave him a knowing smile. "You guys knew each other?"

Alex turned towards Kaye and Ivan in front of him. "Kaye is Ivan's close friend. She's been to the company with Ivan where I first met her. I didn't know you guys are friends." Alex answered honestly.

In Kaye's mind she argued back at him. 'Who's Ivan's close friend? Me? I'm not!' But all these words turned to a smile in front of them.

"Oh. I see. So you're Ivan. No wonder." Jestoni smiled cheekily at Kaye that made her glared at him.

"Stop spouting nonsense. Why didn't you tell me you're meeting them?" Kaye asked Jestoni in annoyance but Jestoni just raised his eyebrow.

"How would I know that you know them. Isn't it better? You've known my boyfriend all along." Jestoni responded to her with a face full of smiles.

Kaye rolled her eyes and took her own chopsticks to start eating. She didn't bother them anymore.

"You've been busy these past few days. Have you eaten well?" Ivan asked softly beside her ear, almost a whisper.

"I did. Thanks for asking. Mom, told me you visited her last time." Kaye said indifferently but her heart has been skipping a beat the moment she saw him in the room.

"I went to your house since I've got something important to tell your mom. It's been settled." Ivan answered while taking some food before placing them on Kaye's bowl.

"You don't have to do this. Just eat your fill." Kaye told Ivan who didn't even listen to her.

"Didn't you do this for me before? Why can't I do the same thing for you?" Ivan asked while he placed more food on her bowl. Kaye wanted to tell him it was because he was blind back then but she swallowed her words since was being sincere to her.

While Kaye and Ivan exchanged words softly like it's just the two of them in this world, Jestoni and Alex was observing them with mischief in their smiles.

"Aren't they cute? They are a match made in heaven." Jestoni giggled while giving Alex a peck on his lips.

"They are. It's just sad that they're not honest to themselves at all." Alex retorted before giving Ivan a smirk which made Ivan frown.

"This must be destiny!" Jestoni exclaimed that choked Kaye on her food. She coughed so hard that tears started to form on her eyes.

"Drink this." Ivan gave her a glass of water while patting her back.

Kaye glared at her friend before drinking the water. "What destiny are you spouting? Destiny this and that! That's not even possible. A friend is a friend. No stepping of boundaries. Besides, I wouldn't fall in love to my close friend."
