IVAN x KAYE : BREAKFAST

The sun rose beautifully on the eastern courtyard. The light reflected to the windows giving a warm feeling to the two bodies sleeping soundly on the bed.

Ivan's body clock told him it's time to get up. He gently rubbed his eyes to see things clearly around him.

He looked down and found the beautiful face sleeping in his arms. Kaye's hand was wrapped around his waist, her hair was strewn on her pillow, some were on his chest and some were covering the side of her face.

He moved her hair to the back of her ears so that he could see her sleeping face clearly. He just watched her sleep until Kaye moved on her own to her side of the bed before going back to sleep.

Ivan chuckled at her adorable actions. He covered her with the thick blanket before getting out of the bed. He was looking for his slippers when suddenly, Kaye grabbed the hem of his shirts.

"Ivan." his name came in whisper from her lips. Ivan turned around and saw a teary-eyed Kaye. "Don't leave me."

"I'm not leaving. I'm just going to cook for our breakfast." Ivan reasoned out while looking at her worried face.

"I'm going with you. I can help you cook." Kaye sat up straight after finding a reason to come out with him.

"Sure. That would be great." Ivan responded which finally made Kaye let go of his shirt.

Ivan looked for a spare indoor slippers and toothbrush for Kaye. They washed their face and brushed their teeth together. She combed her hair and tied it in a ponytail to give her a fresh look. Then, they both went to the kitchen to prepare their breakfast.

Kaye washed the vegetables while Ivan do the slicing and cooking. She sat on the chair while leaning her elbows on the table, putting her chin at the palm of her hands.

"I'm glad you didn't catch a cold or fever due to the rain last night." Ivan spoke while stirring the soup on the kettle.

"I have a strong immune system. You don't have to worry about that." Kaye responded while watching the back of Ivan who was busy cooking.

Ivan turned the stove to low heat and took off his apron. Kaye was suddenly alerted to see his action. "Where are you going?" Fear was clear and evident in his eyes and voice.

"Silly." Ivan flicked her forehead before kissing it. "I'm going to get our phones. I'm pretty sure everyone's worried. They might've been calling us." Ivan rubbed her head, messing a few strands before running back to his room.

"Be quick!" Kaye yelled at him which Ivan just laughed at. She's afraid that if she takes her eyes off of him, he'd be in somebody's arms and she didn't want that to happen.

Kaye checked the food he cooked while Ivan was upstairs. She set the table for breakfast and waited for him.

Ivan came back with their phones wherein few missed calls were registered coming from their parents.

"I'll give my mom a call." Kaye waved her cellphone before going to the living room and contacted her mother. It rang twice before a worried voice spoke to her.

"Kaye, sweetie. Where are you? Are you okay? I was really worried since you didn't come back last night." Margaret was sitting down on a couch with her husband beside her.

Kaye felt guilty for leaving them suddenly but what she's fighting for was a lifetime's worth of happiness. She can't miss it for a birthday. "I'm sorry mom. I'm...I'm actually with Ivan right now. Treat it as me taking a vacation. After this, I wouldn't bother anyone or make anyone worry about me."

Margaret heaved a sigh of relief. "It's good to know you're with Ivan. Yvonne and Grace told me that he couldn't come to your birthday and I thought you were upset and left us."

Kaye smiled upon hearing her mother's statement. "Yeah. He wasn't able to. He was preparing a surprise for me. Sad to say, the rain last night ruined it." Thinking about it, Kaye felt bad for missing such wonderful event with Ivan.

"Let me talk to her." she heard her father spoke at the other end of the line. "Don't scold her." her mother warned her father which was very clear to Kaye's hearing.

"Hello sweetie?" her father called out to her.

"Yes dad?" Kaye answered like and obedient child but she was actually controlling herself not to laugh at her father's cute countenance.

"Since you wanted to have a vacation, don't worry about the company matters. Leave it to me. Relax yourself and enjoy. If Ivan do something that would upset you, just tell me. I'll make sure to give him a heart-to-heart talk."

Kaye couldn't help herself and burst out laughing. "Dad, you're so silly. It's worrisome if you guys will have a heart-to-heart talk. Jeez, who would do that? Don't worry about me. But, thanks in advance for taking care of the company. Hehe."

Robert could imagine the wide grin on his daughter's face when saying those statement. And he was right. Kaye was looking silly with a wide grin plastered on her face. Her worry dissipated already after talking to her parents.

Ivan waited for her at the dining table with all the dishes he cooked. "Let's eat." He gestured her to seat and Kaye sat on the chair opposite to him.

"How was it? Were they mad?" he inquired with a guilty conscience knowing that Kaye was so precious to them.

"Instead of being angry, they're more worried about me. I have explained the matter to them and we agreed to take this as a short vacation."

She sipped a spoonful of crab soup and took some stir-fried vegetables. Ivan smiled as he ate his own food while stealing glances at Kaye.

"That's good to know. Well, let's take it as a vacation then." Ivan responded cooly while placing some peeled shrimps on her plate.

"You told me we'd talk. What is it that you want to tell me?" Kaye asked without a change on her facial expression. She was looking nonchalant in front of him but deep inside she was freaking nervous.

"It's nothing serious. Hmm, my birthday surprise had been ruined, can I still do it tonight?"

"I will no longer be surprise. You just told me." Kaye rolled her eyes at him for his silly thoughts.

Ivan shook his head with a chuckle escaping from his lips. "You would still be surprise tonight. I promise you that."

"Fine. Fine. So what will we do while waiting for the night to come?" Kaye asked after gulping down her glass of milk.

Ivan paused for a while to think of activities. "How about we go shopping? We need to buy some toiletries and clothes for you." It was a great alibi for Alex to set up his surprise, too.

"That sounds good. Let's visit Miss Harley, too. I've never seen her for quite sometime already." Kaye agreed without hesitation.

"Okay. Let's leave after breakfast." Ivan stated while placing more food on Kaye's plate.

"Uh huh. I'll wash the dishes later so do whatever you need to do to make sure that I'll be surprised tonight."

Kaye winked at him playfully since she was sure she wouldn't be surprise at all. 'I'll just play along.' Kaye noted mentally as she continued to eat her food.
