Chapter 27: I Cast... Death!

After cutting down the last of the goblins on his side, Renan raised his head to briefly scan his surroundings. What caught his eye first were the several burning trees along with the painful wails of the goblins on top of them. He then looked at the person responsible for all of this, their party's wizard Ars, who was currently drinking a blue mana potion to refill her lost magical energy.

Next, he turned his gaze towards the tall elf boy named Fuse (or his best friend Alec), as he haphazardly brandished his long sword alongside Goblin Hunter. The goblin midgets were felled one after the other by the sword, and Renan raised a single eyebrow when he saw that bloody tandem working together seamlessly.

"What is Goblin Hunter doing there? Did he already finish clearing his side?"

Renan looked over to the left side where Goblin Hunter was initially fighting with the goblins, and what he saw shocked him greatly. There were about ten or so green-skinned goblins strewn around and just lying there in a pool of bloody mess.

"Just what did this man do to take care of them so fast despite their numbers…?" Renan muttered. "Heh. I guess he isn't called Goblin Hunter for nothing. He must have figured out these monsters' weaknesses or something."

After musing to himself for a bit, Renan went over to Ars side and stood right next to her. She looked at him and offered a somewhat weary smile as she asked him: "Is everything taken care of?"

"Yeah, I just killed the last one not too long ago. By the way, thanks for the timely assist with those goblin archers, Miss Ars." Renan replied while looking at her.

"Mhm. It's no problem." Ars nodded to him before looking towards Alec and Goblin Hunter approaching their way.

Still carrying his sword glistening with fresh goblin blood, Goblin Hunter declared to them loudly: "Alright boys, and mage girl. We may have survived this vile goblins ambush and slew them to oblivion. But, believe me when I tell you that what happened just now was only an appetizer for what is about to come next!"

Goblin Hunter then pointed his sword to the huge rock formation behind them and continued: "Just beyond these tall rocks that this mage girl erected lies the real challenge, as there are probably over a dozen goblins waiting for us with their weapons at the ready. Yet, I already have a full-proof plan to wipe them out instantly."

"And what's that?" Alec tilted his head and asked.

"Let me show you."

Goblin Hunter gave an ominous grin and started taking out something from his brown leather backpack one by one. Crouching down and putting the devices on the ground, Goblin Hunter then got up from his position and presented the so-called plan to the group.

"This 'ere are bombs, and what I want to do is throw these suckers at those goblins waiting for us on the other and blow them to smithereens! Hurhurhurhur!"

After stating his gameplan to the others, Goblin Hunter suddenly laughed out loud like a sinister demon envisioning the death and destruction befalling his victims soon. But, there's just one question…

"Okay. But how are you going to throw them bombs with the rocks standing in the way?" Alec stated a problem.

"I can retract the spell if you'd like?" Ars chimed in with a suggestion.

Abruptly stopping his guffawing, Goblin Hunter sullenly looked at them in all seriousness while saying: "Don't worry about that, as it won't be necessary, red hair and mage girl. I got the solution for it. But more importantly, I need those big ass rocks' elevated view to witness the grand spectacle that is goblin guts and entrails exploding out and flying everywhere like rain."

"What the hell kinda rain is that…?" Alec asked rhetorically.

"Do you wanna come up and see it with me, red hair?"

"Hmm…" Alec shifted his gaze above the rocks and considered the offer thoughtfully. "Okay then. It's not everyday that you get to see goblins being bombed."

"That's the spirit!" Goblin Hunter rejoiced and happily patted Alec's shoulder, as he felt that he found a friend in him.

"Let's do it then." Alec prompted.

"Hahaha! You are an eager one; I like it."

Without wasting anymore time, Goblin Hunter produced a set of ropes from his backpack and handed one of them to Alec. Next, he quickly briefed him on the procedure.

"Look here, boy. What we're going to do is tie a noose and lasso the rope onto the peak of the rocks." Goblin Hunter speedily demonstrated to him by making a loop out of the rope and throwing it over one of the large, sharp tipped rocks. "And with that, we're going to carefully climb up the rock and get a good vantage point, preferably somewhere you can step and stand on. So, think you can do it boy?"

"Only one way to find out, right?" Alec replied while tugging the rope in his hands.

"That's good. Well then, I'm not going to waste anymore time here. You make yourself a noose and join me up there when you're done."

After saying that, Goblin Hunter turned away and slowly began climbing up the rock, his grip firmly placed on the rope as he pulled himself upwards. Meanwhile, watching on the sidelines both Renan and Ars felt like they were forgotten and being left out.

But not really having much of a choice in this, Renan let out a sigh and simply said to Alec: "Be careful up there, and when that guy's done enjoying himself obliterating those goblins you holler at us to let us know, alright? Miss Ars will then retract the large stones and rocks afterwards."

"Yeah, I got it."

Alec nodded his head to regard his words before proceeding to throw the rope at one of the large rocks' tip. When he finally got it on his third try, Alec tightly grabbed on the other end of the rope and started his climb.

"HEY YOU BASTARDS! TIME TO TASTE THE BOOMING FLAVOR OF DEATH!"

The manic Goblin Hunter cackled loudly atop one of the flat stones surfaces, drawing the eyes of many goblins directly below him. Upon seeing the impertinent man looking down on them, the creatures angrily glowered and snarled at him; wishing nothing more than to chew and bite him into pieces.

"Showtime." Goblin Hunter suddenly smirked, his eyes full of playful danger. "I cast… Death!"
