Chapter 30: The Final Boss

Magically appearing from Goblin Hunter's hand was a piece of parchment--no, to be more precise it was a spell scroll. Staring at the hobgoblin that was only mere meters away from him without batting an eye, Goblin Hunter slowly ripped apart the scroll in his hands.

"Drown in hell, you brainless hunk of meat."

Rapidly coming out of the scroll was the boundless ocean, as a great rush of high-pressured water cut through the area in a straight line. The jet stream of water that was shaped like a cylinder devoured the entire upper body of the hobgoblin in an instant. As for the other one that was standing behind it, the powerful blast also came and took its life. And just like that, two mighty hobgoblins died by having their bodies erased from the face of the earth.

"Hope you bastards enjoyed your last drink." Goblin Hunter struck a pose and said coolly.

Meanwhile, Renan and the gang watched with mouths agape at what had just transpired. Renan, in particular, made a gulping sound and dumbfoundedly asked Goblin Hunter because he was the nearest one to him.

"What was that just now?"

"Hahaha! You like that sonny? That was a scroll with a magic spell stored inside of it."

"They sell those types of scrolls in town?"

"If you get lucky enough then sure, you can find 'em. Though they'll probably run out before you even get the chance to look at one." Goblin Hunter shrugged his shoulders and went to the hobgoblin's body that he killed. "It's such a shame though, we could have cut their heads and delivered them to the Adventurers Guild for a hefty sum. But I guess the situation called for it."

"Heh. You're still thinking about money? I'm just happy that I'm still alive right now." Renan remarked.

"I suppose you're right." Goblin Hunter acknowledged with a nod of his helmet. "So, shall we continue with our exploration then?"

Renan paused for a moment to check his condition before replaying: "...I'm okay now. We'll follow right behind you."

"Great! That's the spirit kid. No risk no gain, am I right?" Goblin Hunter merrily laughed and led the way for the group.

Meanwhile, currently happening outside of the cave.

"You sure they went this way, Shuu?"

A large group of men was following behind a lanky person, who was apparently their main thief as well as a pathfinder.

"Mhm. I'm positive." The lanky man addressed as Shuu firmly nodded his head. "I used my tracking abilities to find their footprints, so it's definitely safe to say that we're heading in the right direction."

"Hahahaha! That's good! We'll finally have our revenge soon." The man with a long scar on his face grinned wickedly, his eyes expressing clear hatred and danger. "Those two lucky noobs that killed us yesterday will never expect that we're trailing them. By the time they notice they'll be surrounded and cut off by us, leaving them no chance to escape."

"I'm just glad that you brought the brothers of our guild, Rebel. Because it seemed like they were planning something big with that weird NPC tagging along with them into the Dark Forest."

"Hmph! Nobody who incurs the wrath of the Bandit Troupe Guild will live an easy life here in Elisa town; I'll make sure of it!"

The group then came to the battlefield where Renan and his party were ambushed by goblins from all sides. The signs of battle were still very vivid, as numerous goblin bodies, spilled guts and black scorch marks were sprawled everywhere around the area.

"We're here." Shuu announced before pointing towards a huge tree stump from the distance. "The trail ends there, meaning they must've disappeared somewhere."

"Underground maybe?" Rebel raised an eyebrow and asked.

"Hmm… That's most likely the case."

"Well, what are you waiting for? Lead the damn way already! My hands are getting itchy here imagining the faces of those two noobs when I wipe out their party and steal their hard-earned loot." Rebel sadistically licked his lips as he said those words.

The large group approached the huge tree stump and quickly found the cavity that led down towards the cave. They all got down one after the other with the help of the ladder and entered the cave and resumed their pursuit of Renan's party.

After finally killing all of the goblins in their own predetermined onslaught, Renan and his party proceeded deeper towards the dim and quiet cave. They made sure to check every nook and cranny for more goblins or, for a better outcome, some hidden treasures and loot. Unfortunately, they couldn't find any for the life of them even after twenty minutes of searching the cave's multiple chambers.

"I don't get it man, like--where's the damn loot?! After all that fierce fighting those nasty goblins couldn't even cough up a consolation prize for our efforts?!" Alec angrily said and slammed his fist down on the closest stalagmite.

The rock exploded out into several pieces and its debris fell to the ground. Watching his best friend rage from the sidelines, Renan gave a wry smile and tried to pacify him: "Fuse, calm down man. It's guaranteed that there's going to be some loot here. Besides, we haven't even encountered the boss here yet, the Shaman Goblin that Goblin Hunter warned us about."

Goblin Hunter also added: "You need to be patient, red-hair because catching big fish is never smooth sailing. But fret not for I feel that we've arrived at the last chamber where the Goblin Shaman is waiting for us."

The next chamber that they entered was a whole lot bigger than the others they went to and had tribal furniture and primitive designs overlaying the surroundings. But what caught the party's attention almost immediately was the tall goblin sitting on a throne made of human bones. This creature was different from the rest of the goblins they faced until now because it just lazily sat there even after it noticed their party's presence. But maybe what gave it the sense of security and nonchalance it had was the four hobgoblins stoically guarding its throne, their yellow eyes viciously glaring at the intruders.
